I took my girlfriend here back in October for her birthday. The food was delicious. The ambiance was great and our Teppanyaki chef was amazing. The only drawback to the food is that it did not sit well with my stomach after the fact, which is why I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, we had a really great time and I was able to show my girlfriend a great time for her birthday!

It’s a solid hibachi grill in Chicago. Haven’t tried their sushi, but everything else seemed fine. Food was pretty good. Service was good. One of the chef’s was really good, but most were just average. Only negative was there was an obnoxious group behind us being really loud and doing sake bombs…

Although I live on the south side, I always make the drive to Sakura whenever I’m craving sushi. Everything I’ve tried on the menu has been great, the Monster, Godzilla, Crazy, and Volcano rolls and the Hibachi and Curry fried rice. I have never been disappointed here. It’s also ALOT of food. I usually get full off the rice alone. It’s also a cool, trendy atmosphere. It’s definitely good for dates or any special occasion. There’s parking at the nearby Walgreens, but there’s usually plenty of street parking too.

This place is SO good! It’s kind of a cross between a regular sushi bar and a Tsukasa. A really fun vibe and super tasty food. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. Even though we walked in around 7:30 on a Friday, we were able to be seated right away, so a reservation isn’t really necessary. Definitely looking forward to going here again soon!

I love this place! The sushi is awesome! Their rolls are generous in size and the flavor is spot on. Last night we had the new york roll, godzilla, and the diamond roll. We also did the habachi which was great fun and they cooked the fish spot on. Overall I love this place. The food is so consistent which is the most important part. I have been here about 8 times but wouldn’t recommend the all you can eat sushi.

About a year ago, I found Sakura, which not only has amazing hibachi(teppanyaki), but also such fresh and delicious sushi. I’ve tried so many sushi places in Chicago and this restaurant definitely ranks up to and also ranks first place for best hibachi! So good and fun for all ages!

I was very much looking forward to a good sushi lunch but unfortunately this wasn’t it… mediocre at best. But what brought it down to a level of totally .inferior was when I asked for an order(Boston Roll) to go. It arrived within one minute from the kitchen in back. I should have known something was wrong because I was sitting at the sushi bar and it surely wasn’t made there. When I got home and gave it to my neighbor she flat out said it was one of the worst sushi rolls she ever had. After trying it I had to agree… tasted OLD. What a sad way to push off old fish on a customer. Will never go back nor will my neighbor! To many good and honourable sushi restaurants in the area to ever consider this one again. So many other really good sushi restaurants in the area… don’t waste your money here.

Been there twice. Never went to the grill part. The sushi is very good, and the service is very attentive, maybe a little bit much.

I’m sure this place is bad for many reasons, but here are 3 reasons that my girlfriend and I experienced. 1) The sushi is terrible. The salmon and tuna that I had both tasted like they were from the can – both in terms of texture and taste. 2) The miso soup was boring and flavorless. I counted five tiny bits of tofu and four sad leaves of seaweed in my bowl. 3) The service was bad. Our waitress gave us pineapple fried rice when we clearly ordered pineapple curry. We even pointed to «pineapple curry» on the menu when ordering. To put the cherry on top(like they did on my sushi plate, which I had never had happen at a sushi restaurant), the hostess didn’t even look in our direction when she said bye as we left, even though she was clearly not doing anything else. Small matter, though. That was our first and last time leaving this(freezing) restaurant.

I love this place! My friends and I went for dinner and we all ordered teppanyaki, so we got to sit and have entertainment. It was so much fun, even the chef was having fun with us. My friend is pretty big so he would say, «Here’s more for the big guy, he has a lot of room» Lol. The food is delicious too! My boyfriend doesn’t usually try new food especially outside his comfort American food. But he loved the fried rice! Omgs the fried rice alone is enough for dinner! We had the steak, chicken, and shrimp and it was all amazing. The only downsidr is how everyone in the party have to order teppanyaki if you guys want to sit and have your meal cooked in front of you. Besides that it is amazing. The waiters never really approached us, which I like because I don’t like being bothered every 5 minutes how my meal is especially, if my mouth is full of goodness!

Habachi restaurant groupon good for everything except Habachi. Hidden tenderly in the fine print is the detail that you are not allowed to use their groupon on their specialties. Food is above average, but READTHEFINEPRINT!

Great food, great service and decent prices. Was really surprised the sushi was good, too. Definitely putting this place in my rotation for Asian food.

I was taken here as a surprise by my family for my birthday lunch. I, being a massive sushi fan, was very excited. We were seated quickly, and most of us eagerly grabbed the All-You-Can-Eat menus. Here is where it went a bit awry. As our waiter delivered our waters, he had overheard us talking about the AYCE, and rudely pointed out that we could only get it if every single person at the table gets it. Now, a few members of my family greatly dislike sushi, and they had planned on getting something from the normal menu, so this was a small issue. A small debate ensued. We asked to see the manager. The waiter came out and rudely informed us that the manager had said it was fine as long as the others didn’t eat our sushi(which we had already said would not happen). When the sushi had come, it was delicious. The wait was well worth it. Some of the best sushi I have ever had honestly. My mouth is watering right now as I think about it. The miso soup that followed the meal was also great. Overall, our experience with the staff was okay. It seemed like they were watching us very closely which was a bit uncomfortable. The food was amazing though, and I plan on coming back for that.

My ex-coworker suggested this place and I was really excited to try it. I always see this place when I walk back from Molly’s. The place is very cool on the inside and the waiter was very attentive to us. In regards to the food, I ordered a ramen(shrimp tempura) but the waiter have me something else(veggie). I didn’t say anything though because I was already hungry and didn’t want to wait for the correct dish to come out. The veggie ramen was good but it wasn’t my favorite. I asked for some chill is or something to spice up the broth and the waiter said they didn’t have anything to make it spicy. The broth alright mild but I wish they would have given me some chili peppers. My coworker got sushi and his looked amazing. I didn’t get to sample but he said he liked the golden state sushi special and the 007 roll. He was just there 3 days ago so I believe it was good sushi.

Typical sushi/hibachi joint. I didn’t want a heavy meal so I settled for sushi instead of hibachi. I probably won’t come back just for sushi but I might come back to try the hibachi. I started off with the lychee drink and a spicy tuna roll. The roll was good, nice crunch to it. I then ordered a volcano roll, the consistency was a little too soft for my taste. My last roll was the 007 roll. Hard pass. It was so soft and the flavors were really strange. The green tea ice cream was good and ended my meal on a good note. Service was great, until my waiter’s shift ended and I was waiting for my check for a good 15 minutes.

This was my second time here and I have not been disappointed. The first time I tried the sushi and send time a Thai dish. Everyone at the table enjoyed what they ordered. The prices for the food are reasonable but the drinks are a bit over priced. They also have a hibachi which I plan to try next time. Give this place a try you will not be disappointed. They also have a Groupon deal going on right now. RSVP there is a long wait time.

Teppanyaki + sushi, what’s not to like? You can order sushi as you wait for your teppanyaki food! We arrived around 6PM on a Sunday, and the restaurant was about half full. By the time we left around 7:15PM, the restaurant was entirely full; lots of families. Kids(and I) like the teppanyaki«show.» This was my 2nd time at a teppanyaki/hibachi place. Compared to my first experience at Ron of Japan in the burbs(which was uneventful and borderline inedible), our chef Benny at Sakura was professional and friendly. He did both the egg and onion volcano tricks, and the food wasn’t overly oily.

I came here twice by myself for late lunch, since it doesn’t shut down between lunch and dinner like many sushi places. It was very empty both times. The first time I got the all you can eat deal. The second time I had a Groupon and ordered all sashimi. The AYCE sushi is comparable to Sushi Para. Since Hiro’s is gone, there aren’t too many AYCE sushi options left in the area. Everything was good but nothing stood out. The scallop and squid sashimi were excellent. The mackerel was very good but I always like mackerel. Everything else was average. The price is great if you get the AYCE sushi or get a Groupon(no, you can’t use the Groupon for the AYCE sushi).

Came here with a groupon Sunday night. It was $ 45 for $ 25. Not a bad deal. Arrived around 6 and were seated at a hibachi grill immediately. 3 minutes later the table was full and we were ready to begin. My date and I both ordered the steak for $ 26. It comes with miso soup, salad, 2 shrimps, fried rice, noodles, veggies, and the steak. This was seriously so much food! Of course I finished it, but I was the only one at the table to do so.(And then I cleared my date’s plate. Opps) The steak was good. I ordered it medium and it was perfect. The noodles and rice needed some flavor. They give you 2 sauces that are amazing so I used this on all my food. Everything else was a tad underseasoned too. I need to give 5 stars on the service. The server was very attentive. My glass was never empty and my plates were promptly cleared. The chef was great too. After spending $ 25 on the groupon it was about another $ 20. Really not a bad deal. I’ll be back with another groupon one day. Maybe for lunch.

(3.5 stars) My roommate and I were planning on getting sushi somewhere else, but stopped at the window advertising all you can eat sushi… Yes, ALLYOUCANEAT. Now, that I have your attention, let me also warn that this comes at a cost of $ 19.99 pp but is offered Monday-Sunday before 3pm. Some random guy also saw us checking out the ad and told us this was his go-to place and that we should go in. Being the spontaneous gals we are, we said«To hell with our dainty figures, let’s eat as much sushi until we are sick.» And that, my friends, is what basically happened(not commenting on quality of sushi here just the mass quantities consumed). The picture of the menu I added is key! Basically, you can order whatever you want off that menu, but if you have any leftovers, you have to pay for it at regular price-CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. It was a bit of a blur while my roommate and I stuffed ourselves silly, otherwise known as a food blackout. We clearly did not come starving enough as required to fully take advantage but it was a tasty meal nonetheless. I probably won’t be coming back anytime soon, because who needs to be eating this much sushi regularly, but when the day comes that I’m near starvation and the only thing that’ll crave is sushi, Sakura Teppanyaki is where I’ll be.
