Perfect neighborhood bar. The bartenders are super friendly and this bar definitely has its set of neighborhood regulars. Scot’s has fun events of the weekends and occasionally during happy hour. They have two dart boards and host a free dart night during the week. Scot’s has a daily drink special, and on the weekends it’s well cocktails for $ 3.50 — which is about as low as you can go for well cocktails in a gay bar in the city. If you’re heading to boystown on the weekend, this is a great pregame stop and definitely a fun placed to stay all night on a out of boystown night.

A no frills small gay bar on the North side. I guess it is mostly away from where most of the other gay bars and I was surprised to see a gay bar this far and isolated on my city exploration. Good price drinks and I guess if you are middle aged and gay in the area this place will do although it is very small but a good location near the el.

If you find yourself at Glen’s Diner, and they don’t let you wait at the bar(and drink) before getting your table, preferring to plant people there that are eating at the bar(bad form, I thought), pop across the street and spend some drinkin’ dollars at this cute little boîte. It’s a straight up gay bar, but I felt welcome there. Hot and friendly people are always welcome! It’s a really cute bar, with a great neighborhood feel and a friendly, hot bartender. Go!

Great customer service, great beer selection, amazing jukebox. I went in with about 12 girls a month or so ago. We had such a good time. Definitely more of a boy bar but we felt welcomed! !

On a random night when I’m sporting sweatpants and gym clothes, my friend deemed me unworthy of going to boystown. So we ended up here instead so I wouldn’t embarrass him while I was wearing my «given-up-on-life» pants. It’s everything you’d expect from a local dive bar. Nothing flashy, friendly bartenders, laid-back, no lines, and no ratchet-ness. It’s just your friendly local gay bar. Head’s up though: Cash only! There’s an ATM in the back that doesn’t charge too much of a fee.

I have only been here once, and it was for a quick pre-drink before heading to another outing with a friend. The bartender(Rick) was on his game. Friendly, made a good drink, and cute! The place itself is neighborhoody — maybe considered a bit of a dive. Both of which I consider pluses. The bathroom was very clean — I was probably the first girl to use it all day. My absolute & lemonade was in a big 16 ounce pint class and was so tasty. This is a joint that I would come back to!

I’d been living in my new neighborhood for a mere 2 hours and decided I needed a beer to relax and to celebrate my Kentucky Wildcats making the Final Four. I walked down the street and into Scot’s front door. I was greeted by Chandler, who is a fellow southerner and VERY easy on the eyes. After ordering my beer, I was treated to a «Welcome to the Neighborhood» shot, made friends with some of the other patrons and had myself a delightful evening. The things that make any neighborhood bar great are the employees, the patrons, and the atmosphere. All of these components are fantastic at Scot’s. I’ll definitely be making this a regular stop in my delightful little neighborhood.

It’s a cash only, decent«gayborhood bar». Depending on who’s working, either expect incredible service,(If Chandler is there by chance, he is awesome, as is Mark). I won’t leave 4 stars despite being a frequent patron; sometimes on Fri/Sat’s the wells are $ 3.50 sometimes $ 5.50, despite the blatantly obvious signs hanging? As I said, if Chandler or Mark are there, say hi! Both guys are incredible and will take great care of you.

So, I have been here a few times and I this place is really starting to grow on me. Although I ride my bike here, it is near the brown line(like steps away), so it is easily accessible. Its a small place, with some darts and a jukebox. It always seems to be packed with an eclectic mix of locals. You will find men/women of all ages, races, and yes, sexual orientations. I guess that is what makes it so much fun is that it is about as far from pretentious as it can be. They have a great selection of beers on tap, some craft brews, and the bartenders are known for their ruthlessly heavy pours. Prices are very reasonable with specials just about every day of the week. While normally, I subtract a half or full star for not accepting credit cards, this cash only bar has earned a special place in my heart and therefore, I stock up on cash before heading out.

Afrer purchasing an amazing credenza at nearby District, we decided to celebrate my great find with some Sunday late afternoon beers. The bartender was charming and accomodating. I hadn’t been to Scot’s in over a decade, but now that I found it again, I’m sure to be back for more.

Comfortable, small, local gay bar. Love the heavy handed bartenders, and decent prices. As the others have stated, it’s cash only. There is an ATM in the back with a negligible surcharge(around $ 2). Great jukebox, and clean private bathrooms. Mixed ages and genders makes for a welcome crowd. What more could a local queen ask for?

After leaving a concert, decided to go here as it was on the way home. Decent place. We stayed for a few drinks, watch tv, chatted with a few ppl, and then left. Overall, nice neighborhood bar!

Was literally in there for 5 minutes and the bartender gave me a free drink because I had never been in there before. Thats what I call service! Definitely plan on going back, a laid back local gay bar. Nice to know they’re around.

I love coming to this welcoming bar. i was reading a couple of reviews and have never experienced any gender racism. I have always been welcomed and have become friendly with the staff as well. Their drinks are generous and as most new Juke boxes — they are expensive but have a HUGE selection of music. There have been many times that I head on out after work and leave really late. i will gladly come back and drink some cheap drinks that are good.

I have never been treated by 2 bartenders so badly! I asked if people danced in the open space in back and was told«This is a neighborhood bar. You wanna dance? Go downtown.» So is dancing banned??? My group of friends and I decided to have a cigarette outside and I made a point of telling one of the bartenders we’d be right back. We come in after 5 minutes and all of our drinks had been cleared away. They said we were finished with them but we all had half-full drinks before going out! And then they yelled at us that it was closing time though 1:25am is pretty early. Was it b/c I’m a girl in a gay bar that only wanted to enjoy my music on their overpriced jukebox($ 2 for2 songs!) or tried to dance nonetheless sipping on their watered-down rum and coke? Who knows. If you want to be treated like crap, go to Scot’s.

Cool neighborhood bar… unpretentious and always a good crowd to hang with. And don’t forget their special events like Scaryoke for Halloween and New Year’s Day PJ Party… Oh, and try their Bloody Mary’s. Best I have had in Chicago!

Cute neighborhood bar that my gay friends like to hang out it in– so what’s a girl to do? Make a trip to Scot’s. Always a good crowd(at least my friends always seem to have no problem finding people they know– or new people to know!) As for me– my favorite part of the place was the bartender who took great care of me– AND the amazing collection of local art on the wall. On my most recent visit– there were prints that were made of copper and other pressed materials. My favorite was the ginkgo leaf one(I just happen to have a 250 year old ginkgo tree in my backyard) and I have used the ginkgo motif in stained glass windows, etc. CASH only so don’t bring plastic but bring dollars so you can keep the place hopping with the really great jukebox that they have! Check it out. Gay or not– it’s a great place to grab a drink and catch up with friends when you are in this neighborhood.

We ventured into Scots one Saturday about 9 years ago after a softball practice and we have been going back ever since. Great neighborhood feel and there is always something going on from festive holidays to summer bbq’s on Sundays. Great staff and friendly patrons round out this establishment. Scots sponsors several sports teams to include darts, softball, volleyball and basketball so depending on the day you may run into some teams relaxing after a day of competition. Very convenient from the Montrose Brown line stop.
