Segway Experience of Chicago

We made this trip but the skin of our teeth. Our Über driver was dashing through the busy Chicago rush hour to get us here in time. We made it with seconds to spare (not really we were 10 mins lates lol). So glad we made it, because this Segway tour of Chi-​town wasn’t worth missing! It started out with a quick tutorial on how to use the bad boys. IF you have any sense of equilibrium you will be just fine! The day was actually a down pour and we all were provided rain ponchos free of charge. Our guide was friendly and he took great pictures for us as well as being very informative of the area of history. It was fun!

This place is so cool. They do a good job teaching you to use the Segway and an amazing job catering to the group of people riding. The tour guide was knowledge and funny he made the trip even more awesome.
This was a great experience and fun to try! I definitely recommend this place especially if you are a novice Segway rider but even if you just want a detailed tour of Chi town.

I was part of a really small tour (only 6 people, yay!) one weekend, and Jonathan was our guide. I must admit I was skeptical going in, because their little storefront room was dirty and the bro behind the counter made a joke about how thoroughly they clean the helmets (they spray them with disinfectant, but no other cleaning happens regularly). Once we learned how to used the segways, though, my initial impression didn’t matter at all. We flew around the muesum campus and Northerly Island, even doing a little off-​roading. The small group size was great, and we saw a few other companies’ segway tours that looked like they weren’t having nearly as much fun. Thanks Jonathan, for the great tour. I definitely recommend this place.

We had an AMAZINGLY time doing the Grant Park-​Lakefront tour today. The views you see on this tour are breathtaking. I am here with my 13 year old daughter and it was a great experience. Damian was literally hilarious and took the experience to an entirely better level! Money definitely well spent and completely worth it! Thanks!

What a great experience. I’ve been on a Segway before but was a nervous wreck and couldn’t enjoy it. Today, Casey, our guide, was so patient and encouraging that after a few minutes, I began to really enjoy it and relax. We pushed them across the street and then once in the park, in an area where there were no pedestrians, we practiced the basics. After all of us got a good feel for it, we began our ride. We rode through a few parks, around the museum campus and down the lake area. Casey gave bits of information along the way and was willing to give more if we inquired. This was a great use of our time. I highly recommend you checking this company out.

My dad was visiting and wanted to go on a segway tour. It was the first time on a segway for both of us and I was honestly surprised at how easy it was to control. I was also pleasantly surprised that I had a fantastic time, as did my dad, and we’d both love to go again someday. The tour guides were great and made the tour a lot of fun. There’s a reason this place has a great Unilocal rating — they deserve it!

Just had a great tour with Shane! So fun, educational and surprisingly feel a little bit like a light workout. Can’t wait to come back!

We had never used a segway before so this was the main reason to take the tour. The segway part was really fun, but the tour was much more than we expected. Our guide, Jonathan, is extremely knowledgable about the area and the sights that we were seeing. He is also very personable and natural unlike tour guides we have had in the past. We had previously taken a Downtown Chicago trolley tour and it was fine for covering a wide area but we got a much better view of the close in sights with the Segway tour. It is a bit more expensive than some other types of tours but we really felt it was well worth it. We highly recommend it. The place is kind of hard to find with a Michigan Ave. address but it is actually about a half block west of Michigan on Jackson. They are in a big building whose whole address is 224 S. Michigan so all of the businesses in that building have that Michigan Ave address.

I purchased the Grant Park Lakefront Segway Tour from Segway Experience of Chicago during my trip there last week. Mastered the Segway very quickly, its moves are all controlled by the core of your body (I was using a cane because my right leg was in a cast, and I was still zooming around within 2 minutes; if I could do it in a cast at age 60, you can do it without a cast at any age). The tours are 3 hours, rain or shine or snow (they have a bunch of snow suits for riders to wear when it’s freezing and rain ponchos if it’s raining). They provide helmets. They offer other tours such as the Riverwalk Tour, the Architecture Tour (from the Chicago Architecture Foundation — I went on the CAF boat tour a few years back and CAF is awesome), the Lincoln Park Gold Coast Tour, and customized tours. Tours run usually at 8am, 1pm, 3pm and 5pm, but reserve yours in advance with a credit card to insure you can get into the time slot and day you want. My tour guide Shane is knowledgeable, funny and very competent. I had not only a blast riding the Segway but really enjoyed the new things I saw and learned about the Chicago lakefront. There are other Segway Tour companies operating in Chicago, so don’t mix them up – you want to pick the Segway Experience of Chicago located right next to the Chicago Architecture Foundation. Highly recommended! !

We had a fantastic two hour tour of Chicago today with Casey. It was very informative and fun. We went through Grant Tour and Museum Campus. We highly recommend it to Chicago tourists.

The tour was amazing! I never ever drove anything with 2 wheels before, so I was a bit scared that Segway would not work for me, but the training provided here was so complete and easy to understand, everyone got an individual practice session and the tour didn’t start before every single group member would feel safe and ready to go. Actually driving a Segway is very intuitively easy, you get used to it after 5−10min. On a separate note I’d like to say that the guys who guide the tours are just amazing! They are very attentive, caring, easy-​going and funny, we just loved all of them! If you’re in Chicago this place is a must-​visit!

Good price for the activity

I had purchased a groupon for a two (2) hour segway tour through this company. From the time of the booking, which was very painless. The location of the office is very easy to find.
Casey, tour guide, had made sure all of the attendee had knew how to operate the segway before heading out for the tour. Casey was very patient when he was training.
For the next two hours, he was very informative and humorous. He took us through Grant Park where I’ve never been through before.
I would recommend Casey and Segway Experience of Chicago.

Such a cool way to see some highlights of the city. Our guide, Damian, was awesome! We went at the end of March, definitely chilly, but so much fun! Highly recommended!

I bought a Segway tour for my husbands 28^th birthday. It was a great experience from start to finish.
When I called to set up the tour the person on the phone was very friendly and quick with setting up my reservation. Immediately after I got off the phone and looked at my calendar I realized that the time I had chosen wasn’t going to work out. I called back and they helped me switch to a later time in the day and were very friendly and didn’t seem inconvenienced at all.
I was a little nervous about riding a Segway for the first time but the guides were very patient and reassuring. They take you out to the park and teach you how to ride them by taking time with each person individually. Casey was our guide and he was great! The tour is very flexible. They take you around to the different sites around Grant Park and give you the freedom to ride around a bit. For example, we stopped at Buckingham fountain and we took pictures and rode around before we moved on to the next location. Overall, this was a great experience and I highly recommend it!

Got to see multiple sights all in one go. I decided last minute with 3 other friends to go on the 4:30pm tour. We had your guides Joel and Damien. They were awesome. They had fun facts for every sight. We were actually late for the tour and the group had already left so Joel waited on us and was so patient and sweet. He got us caught up with the other group in no time. I’m definitely coming back for the holiday lights tour.

What a great way to explore the Windy City. Our tour guide, Jonathon, was extremely knowledgeable about the city’s history (and a cutie pie too), very patient and encouraging (did I mention he was eye candy?)!!! I highly recommend this place if you’re in Chicago!!!

You will get onsite training. Get comfortable riding the machine. Glide and ride the Segway with breeze.

When my dad was coming to visit me for Thanksgiving in Chicago, he found a Groupon for the Segway Experience of Chicago and, after some convincing, I agreed to take a Segway tour with him. At the end of November. In Chicago. I think Segways are pretty ridiculous looking, and frequently cackle at the people riding Segways around the Loop in large groups, peering down at humble pedestrians (yeah, I’m the worst). I crossed my fingers that no one I knew would see me.
We decided to use our Groupon on November 23… Black Friday. We knew enough to bundle up in multiple layers and wear hats/​earmuffs and gloves. We arrived a little early to the building (right near DePaul’s downtown campus, next to the Corner Bakery Café and the Chicago Architecture Foundation), signed some paperwork, and went next door to grab a warm drink and waste some time.
Our tour wound up being pretty small — just me, my dad, and one other person who had taken Segway tours before. We watched a little safety video, then our guide, Damian, offered us snowsuits. We all declined — my dad and I are pretty used to the cold, and we had plenty of layers already. We were assigned Segways and brought them out across the street for a little lesson in Segway riding — which is very easy — then we were off!
It was freezing, obviously, but that was expected, and the only things that were a problem were my face and, after a little while, my hands — but that couldn’t really be prevented. Some of my favorite bits of the tour were riding around the Museum Campus and Soldier Field, and down by the lakefront (though that was the coldest part). Damian was a great tour guide, very friendly and eager to answer any questions. And I have to say, I really loved riding the Segway… But don’t tell anyone, because I will deny it.

I purchased a groupon a few months ago and we waited for the weather to clear up to go.
The guides (Ed and I dont remember the other 2 names) — Awesome theater majors that turned tour guides. Perfectly entertainmenting while touring Chicago on a Segway! We had fun with them, we even had a mini «race» going around a garden! That was fun!
The Segway — Zoom Zoom… I dont remember the last time I had so much fun! The need for speed is human nature, and this provides you some much needed speed! It is MUCH easier to control the segway than I ever thought. your feet do get tired at the end though, imagine standing in 1 place for 2 hours… so wear comfy shoes!
The tour — OK lets be honest, how many people REALLY go on a SEGWAY tour just to see Chicago… probably 90% go for the awesome 2 wheel machine! However, I did get much more out of the tour than expected! The guides actually gave us a little bit of a history lesson about chicago, the lake front and went to the back of soldier field!
The whole experience — AMAZING! If you go without a deal it is a bit pricey, but if you have the money to spend, it is TOTALLY worth the experience!
