Ordered plain burger and fries. Fries was great, it was crispy. Burger and bun was good too.

TL;DR: if you want a GREAT burger, there are much better options in the area. Food is by no means bad, but forgettable. On to the nitty gritty: Simple, inexpensive burger joint to catch a quick burger and shake. Downside is the burgers and shakes don’t compare to any of the burger places where I’m from(Milwaukee, WI). Burger patties were small, fries were as generic as they come, and the shakes didn’t feel like anything I was excited to ever have again. Environment was clean, people were friendly, and they serve alcohol which is a plus. But when you’re in this neighborhood with all of the different burger options, you could stand to do much better. I’d place burger quality well above fast food restaurants but not at all on par with similar places like Culvers, Five Guys, or any proper burger restaurant/gastropub.

Had to try this place as I’ve seen it in a few movies. Had the shack burger and shack dog. Both were good, but average in my opinion. Had no wait problem as we came at 830p on a week night.

The burgers and service here are so good! I accidentally ordered the shrooms burger without realizing it was a vegetarian burger. When I told the employees, they gave me the shack burger for free and I got to keep the shroom burger. The only thing I have to complain about is that the restaurant was so crowded.

We came here Saturday night for some dessert. I got the da smores and my date got the chicken sandwich. I’m not sure what was worse the price for a basic chicken sandwich to be 6 dollars or the pickup line the guy behind us was using on a group of girls. The frozen custard wasn’t good, it no way tased anything similar to smore and the ice cream was just a sole store bought vanilla and chocolate. The chicken sandwich was good but not work the price.

This was my first time having shake shack. Being from California, I don’t have a shake shack near me so I was pretty excited to try this spot out. I ordered a mushroom burger and cheesy fries with a shake. The burger had great flavor and the cheesy fries were the best I’ve ever had. The shake was a little too sweet for me though. Overall, it was a great first timer experience.

Eh. Maybe Shake Shack should have just stuck to NYC. My experiences there have been much, much better. We just popped in for dessert, but I was underwhelmed. Service was just so-so. The girl taking our order never made eye contact so we didn’t know if she actually got our order righty until after we sat down to check our receipt(she did). I got a Da S’more concrete(chocolate and vanilla custard with fudge and pieces of s’mores pie) and it was just okay. It wasn’t thick like the concretes I’ve had in NYC, and was actually pretty melty. And it just tasted like chocolate. I got no marshmallow or graham cracker flavor at all. My husband got the salted caramel concrete(vanilla with bananas and salted caramel donuts) and thought it was terrible. His exact words, «one star.» He had two bites and tossed it.

Very popular place to grab a quick bite while window shopping or light lunch. Our group of three had the double cheeseburger, fries and publican pork sausage, strawberry mint lemonade and single serve shack attack custard. Burgers were average size comparable to the size of Wendy’s burgers. The Pork sausage was average size, not wowed by taste. The ice cream and lemonade was delicious, I recommend both.

Overall, this is your pretty standard Shake Shack, which is a good thing! The lines move very quickly, everything is fresh and your food comes out in no time but not too soon. There is an abundance of seating inside and a number of tables outside. One of the good things is that based on the nature of the buildings, the outdoor seating is rather shaded, so one does not have to worry too much about being over exposed to the sun. The only real negative I would say is that the doors are not ADA or stroller friendly so in the strong winds of Chicago one may struggle to get it open.

My order: shroom burger(god yes) Pros + Food: I’m really not much of a fast food or burger person but this was absolutely lovely! I loved deep fried mushrooms. What a novel concept. Cons — Seating: in the fast paced life that is chicago, it can be awfully hard to find a seat. The minute you walk into the establishment, start scouting.

I remember when Shake Shack first came to Chicago, it was a pretty big deal! I know it’s just a burger chain, but it’s been compared to In-and-out Burger of the west coast. I would recommend you try to come in right when it opens, otherwise there will definitely be a line out the door. Walking in to the restaurant, your presented with their menu blown up against one of their walls. That makes things easy for you to pick and choose what you want. If you happen to come during a busy time, you’ll have plenty of time to scan the options and pick your meal. I decided to go with their standard burger and instead of a shake, I went with an ice cream mixer. The burger itself was pretty tasty, if not a little small. I’d recommend you go with a larger burger or double burger if you are really hungry. Their fries were pretty standard, but their ice cream was particularly tasty. I think I picked the Chicago EL special because I love caramel. :) Overall, it was a decent place for a standard burger. Next time, I’ll have to try one of their shakes. I currently live in Minneapolis, and one should be opening up in the Mall of America soon!

Overpriced burger place with shakes as its only saving grace. Ok so call me biased for being a Cali girl who bleeds In N Out but I’m going to have to come out and say it: Shake Shack burgers and fries are BLAND, and I’m talking about the meat patties themselves. The bun was better off without the under-seasoned, thin, sorry excuse for a beef patty. I also made the mistake of getting the portabello mushroom on it — also bland as f***. All I could taste was the breading. Bland bland bland. Is that why they have that condiment station in the corner? Because they know you need Frank’s hot suace to add flavor??? On the other hand, the salted caramel shake was good. Now that I think about it, I did see a large number of patrons getting just shakes to go… it all makes sense now… My sister got the chicken sandwich. She said it was good, but it was 6pm and she hadn’t eaten all day so I won’t take her at her full word…

Burgers? Meh, I’ve experienced better. Sorry to burst ya bubble! Maybe this place was way too over-hyped for me, but $ 7 for their single patty SmokeShack… Pretty steep, no? Tasty, yes. $ 7 worth of food, definitely not. That’s 7 junior bacon cheese burgers at Wendy’s yo! Hot Dogs? A-Okay. Tried their Publican Pork Sausage. This was what I probably enjoyed the most on my visit here. A pork sausage topped with gooey cheddar cheese sauce and crispy fried onions. Not bad. Sides /Shakes? No shakes on our visit here. I was too cold already, but maybe I’ll give it a chance in the summer. But we did opt for an order of fries to split. Nothing really special about it. Crinkle cut fries reminds me too much of frozen fries you get at the grocery. Not bad, but like I said nothing special. In-N-Out for life. Just sayin’. ‘Til next time, shaky shack.

Ugh. Shake Shack. I don’t get the hype. It’s decent, sure. But good? arguably. But worth it? NO. The burger is overpriced and boring. Yes, everyone argues here that In n Out is better — and as a socal native it’s hard for me not to scream IN N OUTREALLYISBETTER. But for $ 22 for a couple, without drinks — for a fast food dinner that was underwhelming? idk… it’s a last resort for me.

Shack Stack Burger: This burger is packed with a burger patty and a fried Portobello mushroom stuffed with melted cheese. Caution — This bad boy is very hot, so give it a few minutes before you take a bite. The wrapper even had a caution label but I was too excited and failed to see it. I bit into it right away and had to pull away quickly once the hot liquid cheese oozed out and touched my lips. The burger was amazing. The bun is nice and crisp, and the vegetables keep it moist and refreshing. It comes with a signature Shack sauce but to be honest I couldn’t really taste it on the account of the cheese oozing out of the mushroom. Cheese Fries: Crisp fries with a cheese sauce. Not much I can say here. The fries were great and the cheese sauce had enough flavor to keep me going until I realized I was on my last bite.

I’m from SoCal so my opinion is probably biased but this was my first time trying shake shack and all I can say was that I wasn’t super impressed. Most people will compare this place to in’n out and to be honest I like in’n out more. However, the two are pretty different. Shake shack has way more variety and serves alcohol such as beer and wine. The burgers are super different too because they’re super juicy and greasy. In’n out is a super basic and easy menu. It has no variety besides its secret menu. In’n out does not serve alcohol period and the burgers are not as juicy. The buns are crispier and dryer. The value of in’n out is better too in my opinion. At shake shack I got a burger and a shake which came out costing $ 15. That’s a lot for just a burger and shake man lol.

Being that I am from California, I have an obligation to always choose in n out burgers, but in this case having finally experienced a shake shack burger I’m going to have to go with… In n Out for the win! ;) You can’t really compare the two because they are complete opposites, anyway… back to Shake Shack… Its a little more of a pricier burger joint unlike in n out but the taste of these burgers are insane. They use 100% all natural angus beef and they cook their patties medium which is how I prefer to have my burgers cooked. Mind you, this review is based on only one experience too. I can’t help but crave a good olé shack burger as I am writing this review… a restaurant out here might do well, just saying… …back to the food. I ordered a regular single shack burger which was $ 5.19 and a fry at $ 2.95 for myself and a shroom burger for my niece which was amazing I might add. We ordered our food to go, our hotel was about a 10 minute walk from the restaurant and it was freezing cold out, but the food was still warm-definitely a plus. That first bite of my burger was everything I imagined it could be. I can’t even explain it, you’ll have to experience it for yourself. Their fries though is what won me over, I’m a fan of crinkled fries and they do them justice. Adding cheese is an option for an extra cost, I didn’t try it but my cousin did, and I wish I had gotten the cheese… so if you’re there do it, to it! They also have shakes, beers(yes), wine(yes) and soda-or«POP» as they say it out in the midwest. One of my favorite movies is «Something Borrowed» and they have scenes at the Shake Shack in New York and for years I’ve been wanting to try it and thanks to Unilocal when I was searching for restaurants in the area it came up and I just had to! We were going to go the whole fancy restaurant thing but I had go with Shake Shack and it was sooooo worth it!

I wasn’t impress I guess I was expecting more! There was a long line outside and inside. The management was so nice! They felt bad that the line was extremely long and the shake machine was broken, so they gave us free coupons for future visit! Kudos to management! The burger was ok. The fries were very ordinary. The hot dogs were.eh. I guess I had my heart set on a shake and I didn’t get that. Lol. Overall, clean and friendly establishment.

It wasn’t quite A-Ok, so I must say that I’ve had better. What Shake Shack fans see in this place, I don’t quite understand. Even though I don’t consume burgers often, I go into each experience with an open mind. This time was no different. As we walked in, we noticed the line of people. With that many people in line, they must got something going on, right? The line went along quickly and smoothly. The menu on the wall, to the left, helped in that process. But we knew what we were there for, right? A burger and fries… so here’s the scoop. The burger was thinner than I expected. The bun was nothing more than one of the generic hamburger buns that you find in the grocery store. I wasn’t a fan of the sauce. I asked for extra pickles, but even that execution didn’t doctor up the burger enough to impress me. The fries were borderline disgusting. I’m a huge fry fan, so you know that they had to be pretty bad. If I give another Shake Shack a chance, I’ll move in slowly, trying a shake. I wouldn’t ever again or recommend that you devote an entire Chicago meal to SS, especially considering that you end up spending about the same amount of money on the meal.
