Shine On Dance & Movement Studio

If you are looking for a dance studio that is fun and not intimidating this is the place to go! I’ve taken the Jazz class every Wednesday for the last several weeks and it is the best especially for someone that «used to be able to do this» and now i can’t even touch my toes. Jess stretches you out so no injuries happen and always has fun routines to really get into. Definitely recommend this one!

I walk past this studio every time I go to the Division Blue Line, and last week, I finally decided to check out the studio and try out the Adult Jazz class. I took a few semesters’ worth of ballet and modern dance in college years ago, but I’m barely able to touch my toes now, so I was relieved to learn that this was a beginner’s Jazz class. The studio is relative small, but so are the class sizes, so the space is not an issue. Jess is very sweet and patient. She led warm up exercises in the first half hour and spent the last half teaching us choreography to a fun routine. Not only did she show us the routine step by step, she also spent time watching us to make adjustments and other artistic suggestions. Overall, it was a really good work out and I will definitely be back to try out the hip hop and barre classes!

We can’t get enough! We’ve signed up for the last 3 sessions, and have no plans of stopping. The classes are fun, and just the right amount of time. My daughter does a lot of observing at class, but comes home and «practices» all the time. It’s great to see her learn, and have the social interaction.

We have attended the Movers & Shakers class and the play time for kids at Shine On and we just love it there! Jess is wonderful, great with kids, and my 2 year old who usually hates all organized activities and new classes just loves her studio and has a blast every time we go. I would love to try some of the adult classes, I think it would be such fun event space for a bachelorette party with friends! So glad they are in the neighborhood, it’s nice to have a great space for adults and kids too!

Went here for a free self defense workshop which was awesome. Jess is amazing and I’m so glad she opened up this studio in the west town area. She also teaches private dance classes which is a great idea for a group of friends looking to do something different. Her prices are very reasonable and you get a great workout!

Jessica did a private dance class for my friends and I so we could learn the choreography for Justin Bieber’s Sorry video (as the knowing of said choreography, ever since my first viewing of the video, was integral to my future happiness). Jessica was super organized in setting up the class and she was really excited once we got there. Once we started learning the dance, she moved at a perfect pace, and we picked up almost the entire video in an hour (and we are NOT experienced dancers). Basically, Jessica rocked, the studio is awesome and I would recommend anyone stop by. She even sent us a professionally put-​together video of our final run-​through after the class. Awesome!

I had a wonderful Adult Jazz class tonight! Jess is very patient and does a wonderful job adjusting to all skill levels and making this a very non-​judgmental environment. Just a good workout with lots of fun! I am certainly by no means a dancer and not in the best shape, so this is a great way to just get yourself moving.

I took a few private lessons with Jess (studio owner) because I wanted to learn how to move a little better when it came to dancing. I had a lot of fun and loved the experience. Jess was always prepared with great ideas for us to work on. She herself is a very strong dancer but never did she seem to show off. She was modest but clearly knew her stuff.

I have been wanting to get back into dance classes forever. I danced some in grade school, high school and college, but I’m in my 40s, not in shape, and haven’t done anything dance related for 10+ years when I used to take Hip Hop Funk classes at Discovery Center. Shine On is exactly what I have been looking for! Jess immediately made me feel comfortable. She’s encouraging, extremely knowledgeable, and I can’t say enough positive things about her and the way she conducts her classes. What a workout! This is the perfect place to hone your skills, learn new ones, get in shape and just plain old have FUN!
Shine On has re-​ignited my fire for dance as my choice of fitness activity– I look forward to every class! I take the Jazz/​Musical Theater class and intend to take more than one class next session. OH, and the studio is beautiful, clean and easy to get to. Dance on!

I just attended my first drop-​in class at Shine On, and I was so nervous… But Jess (the owner and instructor) was SO awesome and made me feel comfortable right away. I’ve always wanted to try ballet, but have little/​no dance experience, and this was the perfect way to check ballet off my bucket list — even though I will for sure be going back for more. The class was super fun, and we were able to go back to the ADORABLE lounge area after class and get to know the other class members and drink some yummy tea. She also told us that she teaches kids classes, so don’t count this out if you’re looking for a children’s studio! I think she said it started as just children, and then she opened it up to adults, as well. I recommend this dance studio to anyone who is like me and wanted to try out some type of dance, but was too nervous to go — you won’t regret it! It’s an adorable studio, an awesome environment, and a great workout.

I went to the adult hip hop class on Saturday and had such a great time! The class was really chill and friendly while still being an awesome workout. (I’m still a little sore!) I’ve done drop-​in classes at Lou Conte/​Hubbard Street before, and found it super intimidating. Shine On is great for people like me who find joy in dance, but aren’t exactly the next Misty Copeland.
The space itself is really beautiful, and Jess, the instructor, was super-​kind and encouraging.
I bought a ten-​class card after my class — can’t wait to go back and try Tap and the Jazz/​Musical Theater one. Hell, maybe even Ballet.

I LOVE Shine On! An absolutely gorgeous studio, filled with a wide variety of students and most importantly, led by the most genuine & passionate teacher you’ll ever find. I recommend the ballet or hip-​hop classes! :)

Shine On is a perfect place to develop your dance skills or get your groove back after being gone awhile. The owner, Jess, is a life-​long dancer who makes young and old, expert and beginner level dancers feel welcomed and embraced. Try this studio out and you will be hooked.
