A hidden gem, simply the best sandwiches and soups, nice serving size and the service is good too!

I stopped going here because of the total rude and ignorant service of the staff. I mentioned my displeasure with the owner over a year ago and after visiting today recognize that nothing has changed. The menu is large and the food is decent but the staff that works there is pretty rude and nasty with customers. Never a friendly smile or even a thank you. I gave them another chance today and had several questions since the menu has changed. The woman with the tattoos covering her arms and body moaned out loud as I asked questions about the menu which is very confusing. She asked me why did I get in line if I wasn’t ready to order? LOL. Sorry to bother you before placing a $ 20 order. While waiting for my orders, I witnessed Ms. Tattoo and the older woman in the front eating openly behind the front counter while serving food and touching money in front of customers and the owner. I attempted to discuss with the owner, but she blew me off. Either way, this establishment appears to care little about customer service or sanitation. Decent food but poor management, customer service and fairly pricey.

My cousin convinced me to stop and it was more than I expected. I don’t like Subway or Jimmy Johns but my Corned beef sandwich was delicious. The bread was slightly buttered and grilled to perfection. My provolone was warm and gooey. The corned beef was cut just right and you can’t forget about the pickle. That just completed the meal. I also love avocado and I assumed it would be on the side when I ordered it. But it was oh so good how they had it on the sandwich. Didn’t like the spinach and feta soup and I didn’t eat my turkey chilli. But I LOVEDTHESANDWICH! I will definitely go there again for a tasty n light option

I went in at noon and was politely served. I had the 8oz shrimp and corn chowder soup. The soup was favorable, not a lot of shrimp but that’s cool because it was good. I will definitely return to try something else on the menu.

I seen some previous reviews regarding the restaurant and some weren’t good. I’m glad I went to see for myself instead I liked the build your own salads idea and the offer sandwiches and wraps as well. I personally purchased a corn beef sandwich with a side of tomato bisque soup. All of it was great! A good size sandwich and it also came with a pickle and chips. I will definitely l be returning there soon.

This is the 2nd chance that I give this place and yet again they messed up. I am allergic to onions and specifically asked for NOONIONS and they put them on my sandwich that I had to throw away because even the onion juice makes me sick! READINGISFUNDAMENTAL especially when you are getting paid to do this!

Ordered from this place yesterday & today. Yesterday they messed up my delivery order THREE times but as a result, I got two free meals. I had a chicken panini with pesto & cheddar cheese. & A 2010 Club. & As a result of their error, I also had the pleasure of trying the Big Boss. Their food is AMAZING& a great price.

If you want a good salad that you can pick your own toppings for that you don’t mind paying between $ 8 – 10 for depending on what all you get, then this place is worth trying! ! The salad was phenomenal! The ingredients were fresh, and they give you a nice quantity of them(they’re not skimpy on the ingredients). And the chicken breast is even seasoned, it’s not bland! Plus the hot bacon vinegarette dressing is ridiculous! ! Has real bacon pieces in it! I don’t like to spend a lot on salads, but from time to time this one will definitely be worth it. Oh FYI I did wait about 20 minutes for it, however if you call the order in you may not have as long of a wait.

Surprised my niece by bringing her to this awesome sandwich shop!!! Although the ONLY Sandwich I’ve had is the«Grilled Salmon Panini»(it’s really that good = same sandwich on 3 or 4 visits SMH)… YES!!! Everything I’ve tasted has been Delightfully Delicious… Soups, Desserts/Cookies, & that juicy Carribean Ice Tea #YUM = All 5

Sitting at #SSaS with my Aunty Char! Just introduced her to my favorite soup and sandwich shop in Chicago, hands down! Love the staff! They know my name, my mom, and now Aunt! Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu

This place has great soups! The sandwiches are good as well! However the lemonades are awesome a little extra sweet though! I recommend this place! I would have given 5 stars but the brown skinned lady who works behind the counter is rude rude rude. I think she is the owner too. I have always seen how she never smiles. Heck she just isn’t that pleasant. The short dark skinned women is always very nice. I only ordered a large lemonade and the owner took FOREVER to make my beverage. The short dark skinned women was going to make it but she told her to do something else. The owner took a phone order, started wiping down the area around the lemonade container and went in the back to do something. I understand she has things to do but it only takes 2 mins to put lemonade in a cup. Fixing a customers extremely small order should be priority! Especially when she stopped the other lady from making my lemonade! She took sooooo long the short dark skinned women noticed and made it for me. It seemed like she was trying to make me wait on purpose. I just had to rant! Alas, great soup, good sandwiches and Excellent lemonades!

The best kept secret around here!!! I have been eating at this place since day one! The salads are awesome, every sandwich on the menu was satisfying to my taste. The tea is off the chain… I just love it!!! The best part of it all. You can create you very own!

I really, really want to support this place of business but they cannot seem to get my order right. I’ve ordered salads on numerous occasions and have been disappointed to have an incomplete order with some of the ingredients missing. They obviously do not pay attention. I am going to give them one more chance.

Awesome place to eat lunch! I had the Loaded Baked Potato soup with an Italian Panini. They gave us samples of their soup and drinks that were also delicious. Ask to try the suicide drink which they combine a couple of their teas. They were friendly and fast! Hope to get back here fast!

Me and my wife went here for late lunch after a meeting at the University of Chicago’s Hospital. We had a taste for a good salad, so we went to the Unilocal App to find a restaurant and we decided on this place. We shared a delicious and tasty bowl on Shrimp & Corn Chowder… gotta try it! My wife had the Salmon Panini but was not as satisfying because of the sauce that soaked thru the bread. But this place redeemed itself with some of the BEST salads we had EVER tasted… hard to beat! They have a great amount of fresh choices of toppings for you to create the best salad at a great price! Young ladies were courteous and one of them had a lovely voice in which she sing so softly. I personally love when ppl sing at work… as long as it is not over bearing… thanks!

Yea for another delicious, healthy, family-friendly and clean restaurant in the area. I’m so glad I finally took the time to stop in. The unassuming store front won’t likely draw in passers-by who live in the neighborhood, let alone those who aren’t from the area. Oh well. Thank goodness for Unilocal!and the positive reviews. It’s a nice no-frills economical option to spendy Z&H just down the street.

After hearing such great compliments about this place I decided to try them out… Great salads I was truly impressed. You get any five toppings you want and just 50 cents for each extra ingredient. They have a slew of toppings but no croutons bummer for that. I have been here several times, had breakfast sandwich and they too are very good for the price $ 2! By all means check them out you won’t be disappointed!!!
