Our daughter is nearly two and has been at this facility since she was 12 weeks old. We’ve seen first hand the shaky transition from American Kidz Academy to Sonnets but can now vouch for the new management in place, specifically at the River North location. The professionalism, attention to detail, and even the smallest improvements across many areas have contributed to a more than satisfactory experience for us and our daughter. A new daycare recently opened up down the street which has very competitive pricing, however, even with a second child on the way we are opting to stay put due to the amenities, amazing teachers, and staff(including the wonderful doorman who takes your stroller down to storage for you!). Pick-up/drop-offs are never an issue as there is plenty of room for multiple cars in front of the building. The password protected shutterfly photos per classroom is a recently added benefit and it’s so fun to see what our daughter did that day through those pictures. Our daughter is still clingy during drop-offs but has never once been crying or upset when we walk in to get her… she doesn’t want to leave! There was a big uproar during the transition to Sonnets about changing the catering from Whole Foods to a local vendor, but their menus are very similar and they’ve listened to feedback from parents and changed their offerings accordingly.

One of the sad things about moving away from Chicago was taking our daughter out of Sonnets Academy. We also went through the transition from American Kidz Academy to Sonnets. Night and day. The new director, Stefine, really turned things around. Prior to her taking over we actually got on waiting lists at other schools. Our kid was always happy to get to school and she always looked like she was having fun when I came to pick her up. Her teachers, Miss Sam and Miss Ashley are fantastic! I always felt like they really, really enjoyed hanging with little kids. If I could have moved those two to CA to continue teaching our daughter I would have. I would not have recommended placing your kid in AKA. I do recommend putting your kid in Sonnets Academy.

My son has attended Sonnets for over a year now starting from the time he was 18 months old. I will be very transparent, when it was American Kidz Academy I had become less than pleased with various different aspects of the daycare. Since the change in ownership to what is now Sonnets, you can see the positive effects the change has had on the teachers. Because the teachers are the core of any daycare’s success the ones who benefit most are the children! Since the change, I have seen a substantial increase in a more buttoned up, creative & organized curriculum that centers around learning and development based initiatives. The teachers are much more catering to the children’s needs on a consistent basis. Most of all the exec team managing Sonnets is very interested in gathering feedback and implementing changes for the betterment of the academy. If you live or work around RN and are looking for a great daycare option for your children, you should check out Sonnets!~
