Yo, this place is legit like the black sheep of Kumas Corner. I stopped by here because i wanted a burger at night after a few drinks. MAHGAWD. Delicious. is Kumas busy? head over to Square cause its just as good. LEGIT.

Two reasons: 1) .50 wing night means you MUST eat whatever you order. If you order 6 wings and you eat 4 you can’t take the 2 extra ones home in a doggie bag. The reason for no doggie bag was because someone could order 50 wings and eat 2 and take the rest home. Lol. I mean c’mon you order 6 wings, you’re sitting there eating them and you get full and can’t eat the last 2 and they won’t let you take them home? Lol they’re going to throw the wings in the garbage, wasting food instead of letting you take a couple wings home?! Where is the logic? 50 wings … Give me a break. 2) had a coupon for $ 10 off and because it was wing night they wouldn’t accept it. There were no restrictions regarding this particular deal written on the coupon yet they wouldn’t take it. It was disappointing but okay I accepted. The wings crap though is for the birds. Lol pun not intended. Oh well… They were fine losing 2 customers. What’s a couple of customers any way. The owners shoes must squeak when he walks.

I’ve been here a handful of times and it seems to be really hit or miss. One time I got the pulled pork with pineapple sandwich and cheese curds and was blown away. Delish! The next time, we ordered rib tips and they were extremely dry. To the point of almost being inedible. The next time was a home run again! We had some Chicken Parmesan sandwich that was the chef’s special for that evening. So good! I’d like to return again and really hope they can find some consistency with their food! They’re not far away from it being amazing every time!

so me and a friend was looking for a place to eat on Unilocal and after we decided on the place. i was still scrolling around the app, then I click on this restaurant instead of the one we wanted to go since both the names was somewhat similar. didn’t realize till we sat down and was looking for those burgers we saw on the picture hahaha. anyways. we ordered the chicken tender with fries and steak nachos as a appetizer. and then a american dream onion rings burger . –chicken tenders came with fries and its was just ehh… taste like your average tenders… the fries was not crispy at all. taste soggy. –steak nachos was disappointing. there was hardly any steak in there and I mean hardly any. the chips was tasteless and there just wasn’t enough topping on it at all. –American dream. I subbed out the fries for onion rings instead. the American dream didn’t look much like the ones on the pictures. the bottom bread was drenched in grease. it was alright… alittle too salty. the onion rings was decent. so glade we subbed the fries out for it tho haha. maybe we went on a off day but it was kind of disappointing. the service was decent tho and our waitress was attentive with the water.

Our original plan was to go to Kuma’s Corner, but after seeing the long wait we walked across the street to this place. We could not have been more happy with how things worked out! The atmosphere was very laid-back, great beers, and even more delicious food. Try the ceviche, you won’t be disappointed! We’d definitely be back.

For how expensive the place is and the reviews it gets, I was very disappointed. Ordered food for delivery and it was not good at all. The chicken strips are expensive in comparison to a lot of other places and they were not trimmed well at all. The fries were burned and soggy. Ordered for two people and it was around 35 dollars. Waste of money, as majority of the food went in the trash.

I had to go to Chicago on a business trip recently. We were looking for a place to eat late one night and stumbled across Square Bar & Grill. We were glad we did! The workers were very nice and attentive, and the food was excellent. It is more of a bar atmosphere than a dinner place, but don’t let that stop you if you are looking for a great meal. I had the pulled pork habanero street tacos. They were served hot and the flavor was amazing. Spicy enough to make you sweat, but still allowing the flavors to be fully enjoyed. I occasionally like spicy food, and it is not often I eat jalapeños, so they were just right for me. Check out my photo. One of my colleagues had a burger that looked amazing, and we all kept eating his sweet french fries. They totally smelled and tasted like a good warm churro! Sweet, crispy on the outside, fluffy inside). If you like sweet potato fries, you will love these! I will definitely go back the next time I am in Chicago.

This is one of my neighborhood bars and I love it. If I recall, it was the first bar I went to upon moving to Chicago. The bar tenders are very friendly and can point you in the right direction within their beer selection, which is pretty decent. This place has great pub food, even sporting a sandwich called«The American Dream,» which is a burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches. Now THAT’S what I call self loathing in the form of delicious decadence.

Was craving a fresh salad. Was scared to order to-go based on past reviews of the Cobb salad. Glad I took a chance.

I’ve been a few times since moving to the neighborhood 7 – 8 yrs ago, and have always enjoyed it. The purpose of THIS particular review is to rate my most recent experience which was a delivery order. I ordered through groupon. I received a call directly from a staff member(i think actually one of the chefs!) from SqBar saying the order was sent out before they included my buffalo chicken sandwich and the driver was already on the way, but so was HE, personally delivering my sandwich. I’m sure it helped that i live fairly close by, but regardless, I really appreciated that gesture. He easily could have called groupon to get someone to come back, etc etc, which really would have delayed the order. The groupon delivery, and the delivery from the staff member were virtually moments apart so all my food was still hot. In a world where i’m used to disappointing or mistaken orders, this was a wonderful change of pace.

Once again, another place that I need to update. It used to be a place where we went to wait to be called into Kumas. Not any more, this place is solid enough to stand on it’s own. Staff is still amicable. Beer list is still incredible. Burgers are good. The wings are AMAZING. You must get the wings, they are HUGE and so savory. Another must is their cheese curds, if you can, get yours with chili ailoi, they have weekly flavors. Kuma’s, you have some competition for sure!

First off, if you’re a fan of 90s Rap music then this place will be a gold mine for you. I would come back just for that, but don’t get me wrong the food is just as awesome. Who ever thought of putting cooked pineapple and apple wood smoked bacon on a chicken(not burger) sandwich is either mad or an evail genius. Once i took a bite my tung punched my stomach in the balls. Yes; that’s how good it was. The people that work here are super chill too and make you feel like you’re supposed to be here and nowhere esle. I will definitely make my way here at least twice a month.

We stopped by after hearing so much about this place! We had the cheese curds and the veggie sandwiches. The cheese curds were way better than any I’d had in awhile so I definitely recommend them if you’re a cheese lover. The veggie sandwich was very much worth it, it was so tasty and was filled with big pieces of the vegetables, you also get to choose a side of fries or chips. Both are delicious but I’m a big fan of the chips I believe they are homemade which is a big plus. I’ve also had a veggie pizza from here I cannot remember what it had or what it was called exactly but it was great too! I can’t wait to try more, it usually gets packed later on at night so I’d advice going earlier on if you’re not to keen on crowds.

I live down the street from this place and my boyfriend and I walked in one day after realizing we were reaching hangry level from the Kuma’s wait; so we opted to try Square Bar. Best decision ever. I now come here regularly and love the Belmont burger and basically all the food. You really can’t go wrong with the food here. The atmosphere is fantastic and relaxed and the people are friendly. The craft beer list of course is awesome as well and Gumball head on tap can’t be beat. I highly recommend this place.

I recently went to Square Bar for dinner and drinks, after continually enjoying their offerings at Burger Fest. I’m so glad I did! The bar was fairly empty shop we seated process at a table where we were promptly greeted by a server. They have a great beer list and I was surprised to find Banana Bread Beer on it, so I ordered that. So good! You can’t go to Square without getting a burger, so naturally that’s what happened. I close the Belmont Burger, which had a unique blend of toppings, including Swiss cheese, bacon, plantains, and a delicious peanut sauce. Oh my goodness I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. Their fries are awesome too and you get am enormous portion. Check out this joint if you want great drinks, amazing burgers, and a fun environment. I can’t wait to go back!

So, my friends and I stumbled into to restaurant because we were craving burgers and Kuma was closed. Inside, upbeat music was playing 90’s rap and lounge lighting. The bartender and servers are super friendly. Especially this one bartender, Zach. Sorry to put you on the spot bro but you’re hot and have beautiful eyes. Food: I ordered the American Dream burger with fresh cut fries. It’s an amazing presentation. Instead of Buns it’s grilled cheese. Overall, Square has captured my attention and will be returning.

I like this place, I really do… But a the last few times I ordered delivery from here, my food was not handled properly. I uploaded a photo just now of the food I just got. If you don’t feel like browsing thru the photos to find it, my container of hummus was 1. Open 2. Bent. 3. Had hummus falling out of it into the bag(duh, it’s open). Straight to the garbage.

Popped in here with a couple other friends for late night munchies on a Friday night. Wasn’t very full got seated right away. It was a typical bar to me… smaller, it was clean. My buddies and I started talking and BS’ing … all of a sudden I hear some classic wu-tang playing and tickling my eardrums… then Rhymefest… I look up, there’s very cool graffiti pieces on the wall… where was i?! I have to say I was very very impressed by the playlist and the décor. The service was a little slow that night, I think they a big party or something that had just left, no idea. But it took a while to get our orders and to get drinks etc. But finally, salvation. Zombie Dust on tap! Sign me up! We proceeded to the munchies. we went with coconut shrimp, bbw chx pizza, lemon pepper wings and spinach artichoke dip. The food was pretty straight forward. bar food. My favorite of all of the selections would have to be the wings. They were big, the skin fried to a crispy perfection, fresh out of the fryer. The only thing is that they sat on top of a pile of fries and those fries were swimming in grease! But my buddy seemed to enjoy them. good for him. The artichoke dip was my second favorite. It was really decadent and super creamy and cheesy. It was good, filling and I’m sure loaded with very bad stuff for you. It came with some pita bread so I put huge blobs on each piece and enjoyed. The coconut shrimp. it was fried shrimp. hard to mess up and very straight forward. The pizza was ok, it was a simple bread, wasnt a huge fan of it. I had slice but one of my buddies maxed out on it! Sooo he liked it. Overall, it was a decent, straight forward place. it wasn’t pretentious, it was chill, great play list the staff was friendly and I enjoyed some good conversation with my buddies. I had a great time there, stuffed my face and drank good beer! I say do it! I’m def. going back for more wings and more method man!

Living in the shadows of Kuma’s, this is often the«other» place where people go if the wait is just long and you just wanna eat! There’s no fear, cause the burgers are just as good, meaty and perfectly cooked, with BETTER fries! That’s right. Sweet potato fries!!! I sometimes choose a place based on the fries. March madness weekend, I was in the neighborhood and I was really wanting some good sweet potato fries. Very chill environment, a few folks around the bar and some at tables. Bartender immediately greets me as I opened the door. I already like the vibe of the place. It’s beginning to feel like Cheers and everybody knows your name. Big Square burger is BIG. Comes with a side of sweet BBQ sauce and on a metal tray full of crispy crinkled fries all for $ 11. There’s a lot of food to conquer, but alas I had to take half home. I ended making new friends here from my general slowness from this major consumption. I laughed when their order showed up with 3 trays of food and a big bowl of cheese curds. I thought the Rib Tips, in the menu listed as an app, but it came in the same metal tray I got with my burger. I would say it IS a meal — comes with bread too. TL:DR: Sweet neighborhood gastropub with good beer, food and specials. I’m coming back. Avoid the tourists!
