Thinking that this location would be perfect to try out since it was close to home, I did some research and came across a Groupon, which I thought was a score! I bought it and went within the first couple weeks of its opening. The service was horrible! Because it was empty, I was seated fairly quickly. I sat for a good while waiting for 2 other people in my party to arrive. I was pleased that business was starting off right for them since they received a lot of pick up and delivery orders while my wait. I was sitting for a good 30 minutes with the menus that were provided. As soon as my party and I were about to order, the waitress came up to the 3 of us and said that they are no longer taking dine-in customers! At the time I wasn’t even upset about the Groupon, I was upset with the business’s distasteful etiquette. I tried to reason with the waitress and the Itamae(sushi chief), but did not want to cause a scene, so my party and I had decided to leave. Because the Groupon was still new, I figured I’d try some other time. However, every other time I had gone, it was closed! Their hours are so unpredictable! Their hours of operation claim 4pm-12am, which is between the times I had gone, yet the storefront was continuously empty and dark. The restaurant is on my route home, and even when I wasn’t interested in going, they were closed during their hours of operation. At this point, the Groupon is expired, and I don’t ever see myself having a reason to go here. The drive up north is far more worth it than dealing with this disgrace of etiquette. Overall, horrendous experience on multiple accounts!

I hate to write a bad review, but this place should not be open. Disgusting sushi, exposed cables, makeshift office in dining area, unsanitary conditions everywhere. Do not visit.

I purchased a groupon and am always down to try any sushi places. Apparently they close on a Tuesday so we came back again on Wednesday. I had to try calling a few times as the phone line was busy to make sure they were indeed open. They are located in a remote dark street. I would not have ever noticed this place if I didnt buy a groupon. We were the only party there. The food was fair based on the price of their rolls. They are a BYOB place which was a plus. The place seems more of a take out place than a restaurant. Overall decent but not impressive.

I love to come here for my sashimi craving! It is great quality! I had the summer roll and the lemon grass flavor is great! Not the greatest with big group. They have awkward chairs. I came for quick dinner date and the atmosphere is good. We had trouble with undercook rice before but they fixed it. Their miso soup is salty and not that great. But those are minor. Great place for fresh and quality sashimi!

On our perpetual search for sushi places open later than 10PM, we came across sublime sushi(the one up north and this one on the south side). Our experience at the sublime sushi up north was pretty mediocre, so we weren’t expecting much from this place and it ended up being better than expected! Pros: –There was a groupon for here, making it inexpensive –Because of the location, the place doesn’t seem too busy so our service was attentive and quick –the sashimi was very good –the rolls weren’t mindblowingly good, but they definitely satisfied the sushi craving. unlike other reviews I didn’t have any experience with undercooked rice or poor quality fish. –the crunchy spicy makis are a real bang for your buck imo Cons: –The pricing on the online delivery menu is cheaper than the in-house menu so just be prepared in case you looked it up beforehand –It’s a relatively small location, so I could see it filling up during peak hours Verdict: Better than the other sublime sushi. If you can get the groupon, definitely come here. If not, I would say only come here if you’re in the area and craving sushi, it will definitely hit the spot.

Bought a groupon and wanted to try this place since it’s close to home. When I called the restaurant to place my order, the staff said I can only use the groupon for dine-in only. Ok fine, so I went there with 2 of my friends. The place was really dark and they got these really weird chairs that are attached to the tables and they were weird to sit on, definitely not comfy, also you can only sit 4 people at a table. If your party has more than 4 people, they do not have extra chair to sit you, which was what happened to a party of 6 who came after us. The worst part about the sushi was the rice was under-cooked! We told the chef and he ignored us and said the rice is fine. Excuse me? I have been eating rice everyday for the past 30 years and been to tons of sushi restaurant, I know what is cooked and what is undercooked, and never in my life I have eaten under-cooked rice at a sushi restaurant! Cooking rice is the most basic skill to making sushi, how can you serve under-cooked rice to your customers and not even try to apologize! So even the rolls contained under-cooked rice, we just ate all the fish and left with an empty stomach. And guess how much it was? $ 100 for bad quality sushi which I could’ve gone to an ayce sushi place and they make better sushi than this place! It was my first time there and will be my last time!

My fiancé and I purchased a Groupon(which was a great deal). We went out on a Friday night around 7:30. It’s a relatively small location, with tight seating. Maximum occupancy must be around 20 people. The service was ok at first, but as more people arrived the service slowed down considerably. We received 3 out of 4 rolls, but had to wait approximately 15 minutes later to receive the final roll. Quality of the food was great though! The spicy yellowtail roll was impressive as well as the orange dragon. Paid parking right across the street(only $ 1/hour)! Overall 3⁄5 stars due to the poorly timed service held up by the quality in flavor of the food.

My boyfriend loved his sushi. I couldnt stand it. We have ordered here one time before & it was amazing. But I dont know what went wrong last night. I like their prices, they’re reasonable. The one thing that was great both times were the chicken dumplings.

No. This is not sublime sushi. More like fishy sushi with no service. Also, this place is called«Sublime Sushi Too» as there is another location up North. Came here for dinner on a Thursday night, and there were only two workers, both of which were pleasant but not hospitable. We were a party of five but the seating only allowed for a maximum of four people per table. Service was almost non-existent with no napkins or chopsticks provided until after our food was given to us minutes later. In terms of the food, this was not a pleasant experience. The sushi felt like it came out of a freezer and thawed a few minutes before being served. I understand raw fish is served cold, but this was colder than it should have been delivered to our table. The sushi rice was not prepared well. It didn’t have the right mix of vinegars, sugar, and salt. It was almost undercooked. The fish itself(e.g., tuna, superwhite tuna, yellowtail, and salmon) was fishy and unpleasant. It was cut nicely, but something was just off in taste. Lastly, why is it more expensive to dine in than order from grubhub? Seriously, $ 4 more for a large sashimi entrée in the restaurant than ordering online? If you’ve read this far, nothing has changed. If you want better sushi in Bridgeport, go a little further South on Halsted to South Kawa. You can thank me later.

I am sorry but we didn’t like sublime sushi. Okay I get it when we eat sushi suppose to be expensive and a treat. But this place was anything but a treat. We ordered a sashimi set for $ 24 it came with sushi rice and miso soup. The sushi was so small portion for $ 24. We ordered small sushi set for 16 for our kids. It was okay. We also ordered gyoza for our toddler. We were the only customers in this place. Okay one lady walked in for a to go order and somehow the prevented the person in charge to serve us cold rice and mildly cold gyoza. Total disappointment seriously. Sad face here. Miso soup was way too salty and it was cold Sushi set was $ 24 for few pieces of sashimi Small sushi set $ 16 looked better with California rolls. It came with nirgi which was fishy and I spit out one of the white fish out cause it tasted fishy Also the seating is not welcoming at all! I hit my leg on their metal bar chairs. It hurts. Not coming back unless it has major changes of improvement. Customer service was super lacking too.

I am writing this review without ever having eaten at Sublime Sushi Too… I am writing it because since 06⁄22 when I purchased my Groupon, I have been trying to go there for dinner after work, and it’s always CLOSED! I live a few blocks away and a couple times I have checked the hours online, it says OPEN, then I create my order, get excited for sushi, give them a call… and no answer! Try again… no answer. Other times I have walked past the restaurant after getting off the train, and although the website says OPEN, the CLOSED sign in the window says otherwise. My Groupon expired in October, how am I ever to use it when this place does not have real set hours??? I am a sushi lover and would love to have a good place this close, but I am upset that I set my expectations far too high for this place. :(

I’ve yet to dine in but BYOB is awesome and the delivery I’ve gotten has been tasty. Delivery fast(yay) but Seamless/GrubHub don’t allow for a pick up option during certain hours, which is weird. I guess when I’m on looking for food on Seamless or GrubHub I’m probably too hungry to go out in public, so whatever. Problem is, looking on Seamless and biking by multiple times in the past week or so I have noticed they very often aren’t open during their posted hours! It’s in a part of town that could use more late-night food options, but if they want to close at 9 or 10 like everybody else, it’s okay to admit it.

Delivery arrived in less than 30 minutes. I got the sushi combo, which is a great array of sashimi and a tasty California roll. I also got a Summer Deluxe maki, which was DELICIOUS! So fresh and spicy! Sashimi was perfect. I was too full to even try the miso soup, but it looked great!

I live right around the corner from this sushi place and my bus goes past it everyday. One day after it opened I stopped off and ordered a summer role with tuna, salmon, avacado, jalapenos and cilantro. It was sloppily put together but tasty and I would order it again… if this place was ever open. Pro: Decent and well-priced sushi. Con: Unpredictable hours. Its not always open for its posted hours. Update: 12÷12÷15 After ordering online a few times, I bought a dine-in only groupon. Their hours says they will be open until 2 a.m. today but they are closed. Tried calling at 10:30 p.m. to make a reservation and no one answered. Went past it at 11:00 p.m. on my commute home and they were closed – the lights were off and the chairs were put up. I changed my rating from a 3 to a 2 because I can’t believe how unreliable this restaurant is. They need to update their accounts if their times have changes or at least record a voice mail saying what their hours are. I will probably contact Groupon and try to return my voucher.

I’ve been to the original Sublime Sushi on Damen many times and this is like a lovely cheaper version of it. I recommend the vegetarian Godzilla roll and their sweet potato maki.

After one visit I’m addicted. Everything was prepared to perfection and very fresh. The salmon avocado and rainbow trout maki were the standouts to me.

When I think sushi, I think fresh, firm fish, sitting atop soft, sticky rice that melts in your mouth. That is NOT the case here. The sushi rice was not fully cooked and was literally crunchy — to a good thing in a sushi restaurant. The pieces of Yellowtail I got were tiny, and tasted«fishy.» I called about the rice, and the«manager» just said, «Ok if you are not happy» instead of even saying«I am sorry — let me fix this.» Nope — not on my Chicago sushi place list ATALL.

Sushi was delicious and very affordable. Definitely worth every penny. Service was also great… Just a bit slow. It’s a brand new place so hopefully as business picks up they have more people working there. The server was so nice and apologetic so it’s hard not to like him! Will definitely stop by again soon.
