Sunflower Day Spa

I used to go to this spa all the time and the last time I was there the owner was rude and inconsiderate to my needs. I was then trying to obtain a gift certificate which had never been a problem in the past as many family members of mine go there and she was rude and told me they have never done that which is a blatant lie as I have not only bought certificates from there but also received them. I am not sure what has changed in the recent years but I am definitely unhappy with the service and how they are running their business which is disappointing since I have lived in Portage park my entire life and this was a great option for me in the past.

I decided to go here after reading the reviews posted and checking out their website. This is a really cool spa — pretty, clean, affordable and decorated with a lot of flowers and plants. They only take female customers and keep the outside door locked for safety and privacy. It’s in a fine neighborhood, but since its not too busy and usually one lady working, I think it helps people feel better knowing that no one can just walk right in at any time (especially when you’re being worked on in a private room). The owner is a super sweet lady who is honest and genuine. She made me feel very comfortable by thoroughly explaining her services. She’s really fast and does great work. A+!

I went for my first bikini wax here too. She talked to me through it and made the experience as enjoyable as a bikini wax can be haha. One of the best parts was she talked all of way through it– always talking never had a real chance to think about my burning area. The only reason I didn’t give her 5 stars is because once I got home I noticed that the left side is a little «heavier» then the right side. I am a little off balance down there. But other than that it was great I am definitely going back.

I have been going to Sunflower since 2001 or 2002 Mainly for waxing but Michelle is really great in all that she does. I have had massages and skin treatments there too. Her place is clean, she is warm, friendly and professional. I would never want to go anywhere else. And in my opinion she gives the best massages ever.

So I got a bikini wax for the 1^st time as well as my under arms done. Not gonna lie, it did hurt but I survived & there’s no way I would have felt as comfortable any place else. She talked me through everything and explained the importance and significance of waxing… it lasted for a solid month and I know for sure I’ll be back for another treatment lol.

I heard about this place from my neighbor after asking if she knew a local place to get a manicure/​pedicure. Michelle the owner was very warm and professional in scheduling my appointment on the phone and in person. Anka, who did my mani/​pedi, was wonderful. It had been a while since I’d had one, so she had some work to do, but she was calm, patient, thorough and gentle. The massage part felt great! The space is pristine. My nails looked fantastic and it lasted a long while. All in all, a really positive experience, and the price is very reasonable.

I have to say that I absolutely love this place.
The level of service is outstanding. The Hot Stone Massage is incredibly relaxing and reasonably priced, especially in comparison to the Gold Coast prices (which is what I used to pay). I always feel like I’m walking on air and stress free.
Michelle is amazing and also gives awesome facials as well. My skin always looks so youthful, bright and clear after one of her facials. The manicures and pedicures are wonderful as well and if you are a fan of Reiki, Michelle is the person to see.
With every service at this neighborhood spa, you are treated as a person and not just a number, like some of the larger spas in the Chicago area. It is small, very-​very clean, extremely friendly, down to earth, and like I said the service is excellent. The prices are great and won’t break your wallet.
There is parking in the area if you are driving. If not, just hop on the Blue Line or the Irving Park Bus.

The Sunflower Day Spa is a quality establishment in the Portage Park neighborhood. After traveling to the Gold Coast for waxing and facials, I decided to reduce my carbon footprint and search for quality waxing services in my neighboorhood. Michelle is extremely accomodating. The atmosphere is very pleasant. What more could you ask for. And the frosting is the price. Definitely NOT Gold Coast prices.

Love love love this place. It is the only place I go for my beauty needs. Great hours, open until 7pm during the week for that after work pampering. Very personal attention. Michelle and Louisa are the nicest women and wait until you meet Minibelle!
