Prefect breakfast! The sun was out and the temperature was 70°. I sat outside on the patio. The service was very quick and friendly, really made the morning more enjoyable. I had coffee, a cronut(a doughnut/croissant pastry), and the apple, gruyère cheese, ham stuffed French toast. Which came with a side of fried potatoes. Everything tasted great. You’ll will certainly enjoy this quaint little café…

This is a nice local restaurant not too far from the Chicago Red Line stop. I had the opportunity to experience the service here during my week-long adventure in Chicago. The restaurant consist of a sit down style restaurant and a take-out style coffee shop. My roommate and I had our meal outside under a tree which was beautiful and we’re lucky no bugs decided to say hello to our meals. :) I had dish called the Chicago style or Chicago way(something like that) which consists of Two Eggs, A meat choice(I chose Turkey Sausage), home fries and a toast choice(I choice an English muffin). The chef did a good job preparing my meal, they serve the toast with a Vanilla bean butter which is amazing. I also had an ice latte with skim milk and caramel flavoring unfortunately they ran out of almond milk but they did offer soy which I rebel against(tastes like dirt) so I went with skim. My roommate describe the latte as a perfect combination between Starbucks and Dunkin with a perfect coffee to milk ratio. She loved hers so much she ordered two. I give the place four stars because they forgot my side of toast and didn’t have almond milk in stock. Overall, my experience was great, my waitress was friendly and as a tourist I felt like a local. I definitely recommend you try this place when visiting Chicago!

Best breakfast from our trip. Will definitely stop here every trip. We had the cinnamon pancakes and croquet… something. it was a sweet sandwich with ham, cheese sauce and egg on top. The staff was friendly and efficient!

This place is cute and offered tasty breakfast options! We came here twice during our weekend stay, so ya know, good. Breakfast sandwich was a solid start to the day and fueled our 7+ miles of walking. I tried the yogurt parfait — it’s not really worth it. The berries were fresh for sure, but the granola seemed like it was just Nature Valley granola bars crumbled over yogurt. Then I had scrambled eggs(yum!) with a side of pancakes. The cinnamon butter was different, and good different! The potatoes need some help. So much potential, and yet, so much disappointment. They lack flavor. Just toss some rosemary and salt/pepper on those bad boys and they’d be on another level.

We were in town for a few days and looking for a good breakfast place, found this little gem on Unilocal and tried it out. I had the pancakes with fresh fruit and turkey sausage while my husband had the eggs and hash. We both were very happy with our selections! Great food, great service and a nice atmosphere. Great little spot right off Michigan Ave, be sure to go!

My daughter found this place on Unilocal. We reviewed the site, it’s menu, and of course drooled as we went through the pictures posted on bthis site. It’s location was conveniently right around the corner from our hotel. I ordered the Steakhouse Benedict. It comes worth toasted Rye, sautéed spinach, herbs, onions, mushrooms, with 2 perfectly poached eggs, topped with a horseradish hollandaise sauce. My daughter ordered Maple Ham and apples with cinnamon stuffed in flakes French toast. The staff were wonderful. What a great way to start off our first morning in Chicago!

This place was found out of the blue through Unilocal.I wanted a good breakfast and the name just caught my eye and boy was this little hidden gem totally worth it!!! Not only was it a super cozy area and the service amazing but the food lived up to its name. Its huge portions so you definitely need to come hungry. We shared the croque madam which was the best Ive ever tasted. The cream used was beyond delicious. Then I had the moo confetti pancakes and the bf had the res velvet pancakes. They were AMAZING. And the food I would see being taken to other customers looked extremely good also. I literally took 15 minutes just to figure out what I wanted. I wish there was a place like this back in Miami but I have to say this was one of the best breakfast experiences I have ever had.

We have been to this restaurant two times. The first time, a couple years ago, we had a wonderful breakfast(5 stars). This morning not so much. So we are giving this place a three as the average of the two experiences. This morning was a combination of the most stale doughnut I’ve ever taken a bite of and a bowl of yogurt with some old berries thrown on top. My husband said his breakfast was decent, so there’s that. We were overcharged on the bill, which the waiter fixed. Basically, I apologized to my husband for suggesting we come back to this restaurant. You can give it a try, but don’t expect the best.

As you can imagine from the name, this is a brunch place. I think it’s a converted house and it had a nice atmosphere. The wait was very reasonable for making no reservations. The menu was pretty good — I did end up getting two dishes: the skillet and french toast. Both were standard brunch quality. Very good presentation on the french toast though. We didn’t find out it is BYOB until after we got there which was a bummer.

So many items to choose from… this particular morning, I opted for the Mexican baked eggs… absolutely delicious. Full of flavor topped with sunny Side eggs on top it was a dish I asked friends to at least sample(not too big of a scoop though). Coffee was good and the service was extremely friendly.

Do not miss this cozy brunch spot located in an old retrofitted house. Excellent service and excellent food with dishes that go beyond most run-of-the-mill breakfast places. We had to climb three flights of stairs(or take the elevator) up to our table on the third floor of this walk-up-apartment-turned-restaurant, but one look at the menu made of worth the climb. Everyone in my party of five was blown away by their entrée – and I tried a bite of pretty much all of them. My wife had a superb breakfast burrito, my Dad built his own omelette, my brother ordered the French toast stuffed with strawberries and cream, my other brother ordered the waffle with sausage baked into it and smothered with gravy, and I got the best thing on the menu – cinnamon pancakes with a vanilla glaze. Read the name of my entrée again. Is your mouth watering? I just drooled on my phone as I typed this. But seriously, it wasn’t crazy expensive and it had a nice ambiance. There also wasn’t a wait for our party, even though there was a big group on the ground floor and Mass had just let out at nearby Holy Name Cathedral. I don’t eat brunch in the city very often, but I definitely want to come back here again soon. [wipes spit off keyboard]

A satisfying place to dine in. Sunny Side Up & Coffee Shop really gave me a wonderful day for accommodating and giving me high quality service that everyone deserves to be given. Not only that, they also have a beautiful and simple place to stay. I can take my time without having to worry of disturbance because of the good ambiance. Had my cappuccino, egg whites, turkey sausage, freshly fried potatoes, and their cronuts. I love their style of cappuccino, very tasty yet the essence of the coffee wasn’t taken away. egg whites and turkey sausage were good combination added with that of potatoes and took out my bread :) Commendable place to eat and dine, so too to unwind :)

Very attentive and helpful waitress and a pleasant décor took attention away from an otherwise forgettable breakfast. Admittedly I had a standard veggie and feta omelette, but the eggs were overcooked and dry and the ingredients unbalanced(far too many tomatoes vs. any other veggie.) The potatoes were well done which is a plus in my book, and the dollop of butter with the toast had a touch of honey in it which was a nice touch. I’m sure I’ll come back with expectations appropriately set. And for the caffeine obsessed among us, the coffee was definitely a notch above standard diner coffee!

Cute place. Easy location off Michigan Ave. awesome waitress. Tuscan skillet, bacon pancakes, peaches and cream French toast, and maple ham Apple French toast. The four of us ladies had more than we could possibly eat.(The husbands will enjoy the leftovers). All were delicious! This place is on point! YumO

This place is so adorable and the food is great. Excellent spot for groups, they have accommodated 6 of us easily. The restaurant is in an old house with three separate levels to dine on, and what appear to be original stained glass windows and fixtures. Very charming! The brunch is delicious. I almost always order the French toast with Gouda cheese and ham, topped with cinnamon apples. It’s a flavor explosion! Everything on the menu looks great though and the coffee is phenomenal. Make a reservation well in advance. Only downside is they usually won’t seat you until entire party is there.

We went on a Monday morning so it wasn’t too busy. Very attentive and friendly staff. The food was amazing. We spent half our meal talking about how we wish we had breakfast food this great where we live. I got the Tuscan skillet, which was huge. My husband got the Peaches and Cream French Toast which was also massive. It was basically dessert for breakfast. We are tourists and have been to Chicago once, but this will be that place when people ask where they should eat we’ll be like, «Definitely go to Sunny Side Up», like we’re experts or something.

The restaurant is charming and cozy with a coffeehouse in the basement. The wait was just 20 minutes with no reservation. The food was delicious! I had eggs with bacon and a biscuit and gravy. The group ordered the berry topped french toast with cream between layers. Overall hits the spot for a filling and hearty brunch.

We were staying at one of the nearby hotels and were trying to avoid the $ 40 per person breakfast bill we’d rack up if we ate there, and so were very happy to find this place just a short walk from our hotel! They take reservations, and had no problem fitting in our group of 8 on a Sunday morning when we called the day before. There is more room than is apparent from the street; they make use of three floors of the building for seating! We joked that we had a third floor walk up breakfast(there is an elevator for anyone who can’t do stairs). The food was great! I had eggs on avocados with tortillas, black beans, and hot sauce. Others had a variety of egg dishes, corned beef hash, and French toast. Everything was excellent! Service was top notch. The server knew the menu well, and coffee refills were frequent! The atmosphere in a converted house was so interesting and fun! This is a great breakfast spot in a convenient location!

Dommage !!!
