Don’t mistake this for a gourmet restaurant, the food is all good but nothing spectacular. The food on it’s own would probably earn 3 and a half stars. So why 5 stars? It’s very affordable and your money goes a long way. $ 6 — $ 10 orders will leave you stuffed, and the food always ready quickly.

You have to know what you’re getting into when you go here — late night grub food. We got a pizza puff and cheese fries. Fries were perfect and the pizza puff did the job. Again nothing fancy but dependable grubbage. I’m giving it 5 stars because the owner was incredibly kind. He was genuinely interested in talking to us and it shows. Also, he runs the show by himself so I respect him working so hard. Will def be back for late night grubs…

I’ve lived within two blocks of this place for six years. Yes, I only eat here post-midnight. I used to get the gyros, which were definitely not the best I’ve had. The hot dogs are as good as any I’ve had. The polish is great. They’ve recently stepped up their fry game. I went here last weekend a little after midnight after drinking all day and skipping dinner. The guy behind the counter was battering up some fish so asked about it. He said it was the catfish. Now I like catfish, but never thought about getting it here because I just assumed it would be frozen prepackaged garbage. Nope, he was battering fresh fish on the spot. I got the 3-piece and it was some of the best catfish I’ve ever had. I think it was $ 8, came with fries, and was a ton of fish. I’m going back tonight, sober, to have it again.

This grill is open late and within walking distance to my apartment, making it the perfect place to stop before calling it a night. The staff is friendly and the grill items are reasonably priced.

We used grub hub to order. It was fast and good. The forgot one sauce, but otherwise we had no issues. I got the platter and my friend got the veg sandwich– both were wonderful. We each ordered sides of pita which were huge! We got eight hands total! Falafel bites were a tad less flavorful that I like– but worth trying again.

Tried this place again after getting the munchies for a gyro cheeseburger. Ordered a double gyro cheeseburger(which says it comes with fries and a drink) and a 10 piece drumsticks(comes with fries) for my friend. Since it was about an hour before closing time I specifically asked if they were still delivering(to which the guy said yes, but it’ll be about 45 minutes.) What I noticed was that over the phone they charged .10 more than Grubhub and $ 3 than eat 24(eat 24 was labeled pick-up only, but had a delivery fee though?) Once again the $ 5 delivery fee for 2 miles was a bit much. The guy arrives about 45 minutes later with food in tow. Once I get in my apartment and look through it once again they messed up my order. This time I didn’t get the soda that came with the cheeseburger(so they up-charged me and then didn’t bring the soda.) Last time instead of the 2 gyro pies they gave me 1 spinach pie and sent the wrong drink as well. They improved on the packaging and look of the burger though I have to say. Tried some of the chicken and it was pretty meh and overcooked. 100% messed up orders, the up-charge, and the delivery fee so far makes this place lose a star in my eyes. Never had this problem at other Super Submarines. Don’t get delivery, make sure you’re in the restaurant so that they get your order right.

I really wanted to like this place, as it’s right by my apartment, affordable, and they deliver. I got a sub with ham and turkey, expecting it to be at least somewhat«Super»… The bread was decent, but beyond that it was simply not good. The meat was the lowest quality; I truly regretted laying my eyes on it. No way could I finish it. Fries were edible but unimpressive, standard frozen from a bag. I’m not picky about décor but it should have tipped me off, with missing floor tiles and a faded, illegible display menu. The worst part, though, was the overpowering smell of ammonia! I ordered to go and practically ran out the door. Please guys, clean with bleach or something that doesn’t invade my nostrils and clothes for hours after leaving the place. Perhaps I’ll give them a second try, get wings or a cheese steak on my way home from the bar, but I doubt it.

Fast, cheap and delicious! Really good quality food for the price, and most items are large enough for 2 meals(although, always finish in 1). Open late, so always awesome coming after drinking a bit. Pretty much everything I’ve gotten here has been solid. Opens up at 8am, and they’ve got some cheap breakfast items($ 3 for sandwich and hashbrowns)

Yes, this place is a dive. Yes, it has bulletproof glass between you and«the kitchen» for a reason. Yes, you can make food better than this at your home, especially if you have time and talent. But, the place is called«Super Sub.» What the *^%$ did you think they were serving inside, homemade gnocchi served in a plum reduction sauce? Some of the other reviews here are borderline crazy. Coming in with expectations firmly in check, my wife and I came by for lunch yesterday. We ordered the regular gyro combo(gyro, fries, can of soda), and the single cheeseburger combo(again, with fries and soda). Total: $ 12. For $ 6/person, you get exactly what you’d expect – good-enough fries, a burger that is questionably ground beef, and a pretty tasty gyro with very tender meat and a pita that did the job. The place was clean enough for us and the service was fast. Solid. Next time, I’m coming back for the two hot dogs and fries combo, which is somehow only $ 4. If there is even a hint of actual hot dog in the hot dog combo, this might be the best deal in the city(well, for cheap dives anyway).

Why is this place getting such good reviews? I have no idea! I was pretty excited even though many people have posted«I wouldn’t come here sober» or «after a heavy night of drinking…» but everyone seemed to state that this place was special. I mean I’ve been to some amazing late night bar foods that I would even eat while sober(although mentally after thinking about the caloric intake sober I probably wouldn’t) but this place has nothing special about it. I posted an updated picture of this place. The sign is a faded yellow that it isn’t easy to read what you are ordering. The bullet proof glass is a testamate of how long this place has survived in this location. Scared to order anything on the«fish» menu, we decided some burgers and fries. The«cook» pulled some frozen prefabbed burgers out of the freezer and some non-special buns from the pantry. He grabbed a bag of frozen non-special fries out of the freezer and put it in the deep frier. Then it just became a waiting game, let everything get unfrozen and pile everything up. Trust me, you can make a better burger and fries at your home, there is a jewel near by, it will be healthier, cleaner and tastier than whatever will come out of this place. I don’t understand everyone’s infatuation with their fries either. I mean even the bad reviews throw in a «at least the fries were decent.» I think this was the first time that my wife and I didn’t finish the fries from a burger and fry combo. Maybe he had just changed the grease or something but they were really nothing special. Yes, this place may be inexpensive, but that comes at a heavy price on your taste buds(or lack of any great taste) and your waste line. Skip it, move on, sober up.

served w/a fork, they take the dip srsly for this Italian Beef!(which btw is all good w/me.) generous dip & ample hot giardiniera peppers added perfect flavor while transforming the bun into a delicious gravy bread on the bottom of the sandwich. perfect for pickups/carry outs b/c they wrap these sandwiches up tight in like 5 layers of protection(plastic bag, paper bag, styrofoam container, aluminum foil & wax paper).

There is actually some good stuff in there despite its external appearance. The venue could definitely benefit from some updating. They are open very late, so late that it puts the nearby Wendy’s to shame. Well priced and good value received. A great choice after a night out!

This place is by far one of mine and my husband’s favorite new places to order from. They have an amazing Gyro cheeseburger and their fries taste like BK fries which is amazing. They also give you a pretty good amount of food for reasonable prices which is great. They also follow our delivery instructions(we dont have a phone) which is also amazing because so many places havent which resulted in our order being returned to the restaurant. I actually just ordered from them now, and can’t wait until it get’s here. Their prices range from anywhere like 2.99 for cheese fries and up, but nothing is too expensive either. Definitely a new favorite place and I will continue enjoying their good food, good service and good prices.

This place is great. I used to live nearby, and anytime I’m in the neighborhood nowadays I stop by. This place has great, cheap, and fast food. Everything you could want when you’re hungry, tired, or drunk(speaking with plenty of experience in all three). Shockingly good hamburgers, spinach and feta puffs, gyros, sub sandwiches, the works. Everything is made with care and quickly, and almost always a man named Assad is working: He is one of the nicest, most friendly people I’ve encountered in the city, and he remembers my name and what I’m doing and even has given my friends an apartment listing when he found out they were getting kicked out of their place. All of this and the man works long, hard hours dealing with some truly unpleasant customers deep into the night. If you go here, say hello. One day I asked him what he thought was best, and told me to order the chicken pita. DOIT, it’s so insanely good. This place is fast, with incredibly hard working people that have to put up with a lot of crap(it’s one of the only places open all night in the area), and they not only work hard but are incredibly pleasant, helpful, and good at what they do. So if you’re nearby, by all means stop in and eat some chicken pita. It looks a bit of a hole-in-the-wall place, but don’t be fooled: You will leave happy, very full without spending much money, and you’ll probably have great conversation while you wait. I’m surprised to see some negative comments about people who work here being unfriendly, because I’ve been many, many, many times(again, used to live around the corner) and have always been greeted cheerfully. This place doesn’t get enough credit, and has somewhat of a cult following amongst me and my friends. Go here; and when you do, don’t forget to try the chicken pita, and don’t forget to say hi to my man Assad!

The man who runs this place is a fun, no-nonsense cook. He cooks delicious food to order. He fun, inviting, and he keeps the place clean. He also doesnt take sh#t from the riff-raff that run around this borderline sketchball neighborhood. Be sure to tip this man and enjoy your extremely good hotdog deals.

I am absolutely fine with risking my life for their ridiculously amazing Philly Cheese Steak. It is the oiliest, grossest looking thing in the world. I’m hoping they dunked it in sauce like an Italian Beef, but since everything there is oily anyway it’s impossible to tell. Their gyros are top notch as well(twice the size and 2/3rds of the price than Falafel & Grill). The staff is friendly and they go out of their way to please. The people… sketchy as fuck. There hardly goes a time where somehow a fight almost breaks out for some stupid reason. Super Sub attracts homeless people, high school students, gangbangers – overall a more blue collar atmosphere. In fact, the only reason I even tried the Philly Cheese is because I previously had some weird lady come up to me crying for me to buy her one. All I could think was«Wow, that’s a specific request.» As I waited for my food, that same lady received her fried chicken – meaning she was waiting for food already. So, really she wasn’t a hungry beggar, but someone who just wanted something more awesome. So I too needed to try what was more awesome than fried chicken, and it really is worth making an ass of myself to a complete stranger for. Best greasy food in Wicker Park/Ukrainian Village/East Village.
