«Overrated! Me and my sister’s wanted to try out a new sushi spot. We been hearing great things about this place. We decided to go her since besides its a BYOB restaurant. We had reservations schedule. When we first walked in the lights were on. Usually at sushi spots the lights are dimmed. Then we asked for glasses of wine but they ran out or they didnt have any clean. We waited for 20 mintues for wine glasses. The sushi was not great at all. The worse thing was that the had no heat on. Everyone in the restaurant were eating with their jackets on. For goodness sake we live in Chicago. Not worth going.

I was very disappointed with this visit. We arrived to be the second party in line waiting for seats, however, they allowed guests who came in after us to seat themselves without a reservation. When I brought it to the staffs attention they brushed me off. Very irritating. The sushi was okay… if even that. It was wayyy too much rice and the rolls lacked any flavor. It wouldn’t have been a problem if the rice was properly seasoned… tasteless stuff it was. Highlights of the night were the volcano rolls. ^-^ those weren’t too bad.

Amazing all you can eat sushi! This includes appetizers of your choice and it’s byob. The wait is easily an hour on a busy night and you must have your whole party there to be seated. Easily the best sushi in Wicker Park.

Okay, it’s still four stars because of those mountain rolls, but they’re being kind of obnoxious lately about waiting for your entire party to arrive before they’ll seat you, Most people who I go with take public transit and even if they’re driving, we all know that parking/driving in this neighborhood can being randomly slow… or not. It’s resulted in a lot of strongly worded texts amongst friends about arriving on time and/or losing our table. Since we always seem to have at least eight people, they make us hang out at the door, generally being a hassle, until we have all but one person. Then there is some talking them in to seating us/pretending one person is in the bathroom. Just seat us. We’re going to put in an order of six mountain rolls and four orders of vegetable tempura immediately anyway.

Overall the 3.5 star rating is spot on Eel sushi = always so good American Dream roll = eh, not my dream, tempura items here are too oily and don’t go down well Palatine roll = nice, but waaaay too thick a layer of rice(see posted photos) Christmas roll = fine, except for seaweed texture which is too chewy For those ppl who are unhappy with slow service, if you go at 1:30pm on a weekday it’s pretty much empty and blazing fast(plus you’ll be hungrier). Lunch menu is extremely limited. Everything tasted fresh and service ppl were nice. Sushi para M better than Sushi Sai

Given that it was my first sushi buffet experience in Chicago, I’m happily giving Sushi Para M a solid 4 stars! Parking: There is meter parking a little pass the restaurant, so my sister & I didn’t have to walk too far or spend an insane amount of time driving around, yay! Other than that, it is in the heart of Wicker Park, I’d suggest taking the Blue line! Service: It’s average. You come in, get seated, someone will stop by to take your AYCE order sheet, and probably check on you once in a while for some more order. It’s nothing too excessive, which I like. If you feel like no one has been around, just give them a stare, and you’ll get their attention! Food: I do wish the place offered a more traditional buffet where you could walk around and pick out whatever sushi or rolls that you’d like to try. That way, you could try so many different things and control your plate portion a bit easier, in my opinion. However, I understand that fresh sushi trumps cold, stale looking, staying-out-for-hours sushi! That said, whatever we ordered came out so FAST, less than 10 mins! If you have company, that’s nothing, you make some small talk and boom, the food is right in front of you. It’s pretty amazing! We enjoyed the nigiri, and our favorite rolls of the night are Angel and Pop Up rolls. The spicy tuna roll is surprisingly yummy! Boston roll is not as great as expected, lots of rice, cucumber & avocado, so you’ll get full quickly even though it only comes with 5 pieces. In conclusion, alright quality sushi, a sufficient cure to my sushi cravings! Price: It’s $ 20AYCE. If one person has a few nigiri(say 5 or 6), then 2 rolls, you definitely get your money’s worth, maybe(and most likely) more! My sister and I didn’t bring any beverages with us cos we were all about eating as much sushi as we could. But it’s BYOB, and so what I saw was couples bringing wine bottles, huge party with a few packs of beers, etc. Great option for you drinkers out there! I’ll definitely search more for sushi buffet options in Chitown, but wouldn’t mind coming back here if all else failed.

I might be a little ridiculous and say that I got a party of 19 in here but that was the case here. I called Sushi Para earlier in the day to make a reservation and they said our situation was fine with them as long as MAJORITY of the party was present when we arrive. No problem with us since we were travelling together on the CTA. I was kind of hesitant about the service we would receive for being such a big group but I have to hand it to them. The workers at Sushi Para were patient with us as we were with them and we all had a great time! Thank you so much! It was definitely a relief to us all. Can’t forget, this place is BYOB! There is a Walgreens conveniently located down the street where we bought our wine bottles to share with the table. Sushi Para gave us wine glasses for the table and we ended up bringing our own wine opener so we didn’t ask them for that. I had to dock off 1 star for some of the sushi rolls. I mostly ordered nigiri but most of the Unilocalers here are right when they say they use more rice than needed in their sushi. This became a nuisance when you’re trying to stuff your face quickly or struggle to finish that last piece of rice on your plate so they don’t overcharge you. Other than that, all the sushi rolls were good and the nigiri was fresh as can be. If you order a lot of rolls at once, you get your rolls on a boat!

Per a friend’s recommendation, I came here last Saturday for their all-you-can-eat-sushi for $ 20. I enjoyed the variety of rolls that they had! Their side menu definitely allowed me to expand my horizons sushi-wise. Between my friend and I, we split 4 rolls and had a few pieces of sashimi for good measure. We were stuffed after noshing on these pieces; my personal favorite was the Fusion roll! This is definitely a place where you get your bang for your buck, allowing you to branch out from your usual sushi order without sacrificing the quality of the seafood used. I’d definitely recommend stopping by Sushi Para M if you are in the area and in the mood for some tasty sushi!

Reasonably priced and decent sushi for an all you can eat byob place. You can’t go wrong with the salmon or tuna and their wraps a nice too. Bring a bottle of chilled vodka and notice how well raw fish goes down with a shot!

The take out dinner special for 17.99 is a deal. An appetizer, 3 rolls, 2 sushi pieces goes a long way if you pick the right rolls. I get the pop up roll and Sapporo roll which are 8 pieces each, a spicy salmon roll, 2 pieces of salmon and shumai for my appetizer. Perfect size takeout at a great price for any sushi lover with a big stomach.

My favorite AYCE sushi place in Chicago– the rolls are always fresh, and it seems like the options are endless for AYCE. If you go to Sushi Para, you definitely will get your value’s worth with their AYCE sushi. (will update later)

We have been coming back a lot because it’s just more cost efficient to do AYCE than order individual rolls when we are ravenous. We like Michigan(it’s like spicy tuna but crunchy), angel roll(California roll with spicy tuna), and palatine. Service has always been friendly and usually prompt. Although we have moved away from this location, we still come back!

I’m a regular at sushi Para M. In fact, it is my number 3 go to, all you can eat sushi place, here in Chicago.(Even though, I heard my #2 House of Sushi just closed). It’s not the best & the rolls fall apart.(If you want the best, go to Jellyfish or South Coast.) Yet, you can’t deny that It’s pretty good for the price of $ 20& the ability to BYOB. It is located right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Wicker Park. So it’s perfect for that pre-game & get food, before the night of Bar hopping fun. Again it’s BYOB, so please be ready with your wine or Beer. They do not charge a carriage fee. If you’re lucky you may score a free parking spot a little further north of the restaurant. More than likely, you’ll have to pay for parking, so get the app. Now back to the rules, if you’ve read any of my other reviews, you’ll see that I am a big fan of Mark.(I guess, I’m not so true sushi fan.) in light of this, I tend to choose the Godzilla, American Dream, the Spider, crunch, as well as the sweet potato roll. However, I do like to dibble and dabble on a few raw rolls, such as the white volcano, the Philli and a white volcano roll. Can’t think of the name, just ask the waiter. This time I tried the red snapper sashimi roll.(It was good.) My go to apps is the Gyoza &/or their calamari. It’s so good. Ask them to grill it a little longer for you.(I’m sure I have a picture of it in Unilocal.) Other than that, come prepared to eat and have a good time with your friends. Then, go out to the bars and do it again. Lol

I don’t know why I continue to go to sushi para, any location really they are worse than a chain. Every time I come here my experience decreases even more. Like my like for this place was one happy inflated balloon and now it’s just a big ol deflated disappointment. Basically it’s BYOB and all you can eat sushi and apps for 19.99. So really how much can I complain? Well the sushi was oddly warm. Salmon on sushi should not be warm right? Like that seems a little scary. Miso was salty which I never in a million year thought a place could fail in miso. Then the service. It’s like because we don’t order booze they have to be bad because in turn there is a lesser tip. Our ticket took like 20 minutes to be picked up. We just ended up getting up and paying for our check at the«host» stand because we weren’t going to waste time on waiting for someone to check up on us. Which by the way no one ever did not even to ask how the food was. It’s like they only have food runners and not actual waiters and waitresses. Next time I’ll just cough off $ 10 bucks more and eat two delicious healthy rolls instead of risking food poisoning.

Hey — it’s all you can eat. I fee l like with something like sushi, that’s a mistake? I’m in to quality, not quantity when I consider eating raw fish. But it was around the corner from a concert venue, so I stopped in for dinner. I was there a little early on a weeknight, and walked right in and sat down. I did get a little bit of a college kid splurge-y vibe from some of the nearby tables? But it’s all you can eat, so I suppose I shouldn’t complain. Do bear in mind that what you don’t eat, you have to pay for, so no «I’ll take one of everything on the menu» and then only eating a little bit. In the evening, it’s ~$ 20 for the all you can eat special. Worth noting that the many obviously isn’t going to include much exotic stuff under that special — no uni on the menu, suffice to say. I went with a couple spicy rolls, which were good, but not great. The spicy tuna mix was heavy on mayo and light on tuna, although it still had good flavor. And in general, there was a lot of missing fish flavor. I just kept thinking that they could have been better, but they were’t bad either. After a couple rolls, I went with two pieces of nigiri — a tuna and a salmon, and they were *much* better than the rolls. Like, whoa better. Which I know could be totally variable, down to the fish or the rolls or the chef or whatever, But if I went again, I would absolutely start with nigiri and feel out that difference again. If it’s consistently better like it was on my visit, you should focus on nigiri(which I would argue for anyway, I feel like all the rolls you get in the US are just fanciness and not really what sushi is really about). Service was fine, not bad not great. Finally, as I discussed with a coworker, if you’re gonna do all you can eat something, you need to «focus» on that something if you want to maximize your dollar. It’s like going to the Brazilian steak house and filling up at the salad bar. That’s how they get you. So to the couple next to me who ordered gyoza and edamame? I mean, i love both of those, but not when I’m in a war to destroy the restaurant’s profit margin via raw fish comsuption. Filling up on soybeans is a rookie move. But then they housed about 8 rolls(waitress let them off the«pay for what you don’t eat» hook with about 4 pieces left) so maybe I shouldn’t make too much fun. So would I go back. Well, it’s out of the way for me. So no, not unless I was nearby. But if I was nearby… I think I might, just to try more nigiri and see if it’s still good.

The sushi here is always incredible. Never disappointed with what I order and everything is fresh and tasty. We usually order pick up from here and they only negative thing I have to add is they ALWAYS seem to mess up our order. Out of the last 5 times my friend and I have ordered take out from here our orders been correct one time. Double check your order if you do take out! Other than that I love this place.

Giving this place 4 stars because they have really good sushi, but not as good service as their sister restaurant Sushi Para Too in Lincoln Park. Made reservations for 5 for this past Thursday night at 6:30. Unlike their other location, the place does not get overly crowded, and you can probably get in without a reservation around 5 or 6. It’s a little out of the main crowded area of six corners, so it doesn’t get as much foot traffic. Walking in we were seated, but were sat at a four person table. When we asked if we could move to a bigger booth, we were told that there was a large party coming in, and they couldn’t accommodate us. We understood, no big deal, but then half the space that they told us we couldn’t sit in remained empty for the rest of the night. Our table was a little cramped, but it didn’t ruin dinner. We all ordered the shrimp shumai, edamame, crazy tuna roll, mountain roll, unagi roll, rainbow roll, spider roll, shrimp tempura roll, and assorted sashimi, All were excellent, and came out in about 10 – 15 minutes. Everything tasted fresh, they use excellent grade fish for their sushi, and nothing was dry or poorly assembled. Our waitress was very nice, I only have two complaints. 1. We were only given one set of chopsticks, one napkin, and one small soy sauce bowl for the whole table. We had to ask repeatedly for more chopsticks, water, soy sauce bowls, and napkins. She also kept taking our bottle opener away after we would open a wine bottle, and then we had to ask for it back every time we wanted to open another bottle or beer. 2. They added automatic gratuity of 18% when our party was only 5(usually its 6 or more where they add it) and this is illegal for restaurants to do now with the new tax laws. Restaurants are not allowed to automatically add any amount of gratuity onto a bill period. I would have probably tipped the same amount, it just bothered me that they did it. All in all I would probably return if I was in the area, as it is BYOB and they have a reasonably priced all you can eat for 18 $.

I have been to Sushi Para’s original location in Palatine numerous times but this location has some unique items that makes it stand out. It’s BYOB and has selections on the AYCE menu that the other locations don’t have such as grilled calamari, fried scallops, and specialty maki rolls. This was the first time that I saw scallops on an AYCE menu for less than $ 20 a person. Your order comes out quickly and the maki rolls aren’t packed with too much rice. Since they will charge you extra for whatever you don’t finish, you definitely don’t want the too much rice in your rolls. It’s AYCE sushi so the quality isn’t going to be top grade but it’s worth the value if you have a big appetite like me. Pro tip: go easy on the booze since it’ll make the rice in your stomach expand and make you full faster. That’s words of wisdom from a buffet master sensei.
