Super bummed. I remember eating here and being satisfied… Must have been drunk.

This place was only ok while the TVs were on and it was a sports bar. On Thursday, at around 10pm, it converted into a better place with a DJ. Bartenders are nice and prices are reasonable. It was relatively lively. The DJs were awesome. I also liked the lighting at the bar.

Great place for Pool Leauge. Chill. Inexpensive brews. Bathrooms could use a lil airfreshner though ;)

Went here at around 6pm today. We were looking for something quick to grab and saw the 4dollar burger special and stopped in. I got the burger and it was huge. The taste was very off so I only had a few bites before asking for a box. Moral of the story is I am home throwing up my guts right now!!! For 4dollars I guess you get bad meat and food poisoning! Don’t get there special you might die

This is a great bar. They have bar food and is great bar food. There are no frills here other than the awesome service. That alone should be a reason to check it out. Sometimes in Chicago is hard to find a spot that hasn’t become too pretentious to stomach. Swig is a breath of fresh air… no-frills, but just what everyone needs from time to time!

Great little bar with a few TV’s and a pool table in the back. Nothing fancy but solid beer selection at a reasonable price. They do carry«Zombiedust» which I tend to enjoy and a few shot/drink specials. The bar tenders were on point and very friendly. The crowd was chill but it is what you expect in the Wicker Park area. I will be back!

Swig is a great neighborhood bar. The décor is great and the music is too. It’s a cool spot to stop in for a quick drink or a place to have a few and shoot some pool. The bartenders are fantastic and they’ve got some delicious quesadillas. Swig has never disappointed and it’s been the spot for in between waiting for a restaurant or meeting up with friends. Cool bartender on Sunday morning/afternoons! I’ll catch his name next time.

I don’t understand the low ranking. We went after getting a little buzzed at Emporium, and it was a perfectly serviceable place to hang out in between destinations. Two huge bonuses: awesome music and a very kind bartender. It’s not especially as dumpster hip as a lot of places around wicker, but wicker isn’t the artisan fantasy the kids that end up living there make it out to seem anyway. This place was a nice unpretentious respite and I got to hear Aaliyah while I drank an embarrassing Long Island.

I’m writing and rating a specific night at SWIG, keep this in mind. This neighborhood, Wicker Park, attracts a variety of artists, hipsters and professionals all at a similar stage in their lives: young, almost broke, and keen on the fabulous. This makes for interesting dynamics and cross-pollution in a racially and culturally segregated city. DukeShin has accepted this challenge and met it well. On Thursday evenings he takes the open air bar and marries the acoustics of Milwaukee with notes of house, techno and dub. Each week he features one to three guest DJs, each attracting their own crowd but the static weekly cats remain regardless. A big haven for Burners who seek a respectful but playful crowd whose purpose is evident: get loose on the floor and let the libations flow. The staff, a female and male bartender along with security are chill and that perfect blend of cute and snarky, very Wicker Park. If you want to dance to quality mixing on a Thursday night, check out Duke’s Thursday. It’s inviting to women who don’t want to be hassled, it’s open to any and all who want to groove and the crowd smiles and acknowledges other people’s existence.

This is the kind of small bar I’ve dreamed about. First of all, we have to discuss the music. I hadn’t heard of a single band that they planned but it was a great mix of Blue/Jazz and rock music. I want that playlist! The guy behind the bar did a great job and even recommend a great cider(I can’t handle the taste of beer) I love this place and hope to go back there soon.

This is not even close to being a favorite bar of mine. It’s very dark, strangely decorated, and not welcoming. They had an ok beer list and some specials, but nothing to write home about. There is a pool table and a few TV’s. The bartenders were not friendly at all. They didn’t have anything to do and could have been making conversation with me… but they just stared off into the distance instead. I pretty much got out of there as soon as I could.

I stop here for drinks every time I take friends from out of town shopping. It’s very chill and the bartenders are super nice.

If this bar is a hipster bar, then I don’t get why people have a problem with hipsters. They have a great menu, lots of different beers, knowledgeable and polite staff, a fire place and a pool table. What else do you want? Somewhere to hang your scarf? Take it down to Flat Iron. I play pool here often now, and this is one of my favorite bars in the area. Relaxed spot, and I love the $ 5 burger and tots, paired with a $ 5 Bell’s oberon out the tap, makes for a good place to chase away the Monday blues. Arrogantly I would assume that if I owned a bar, this is the kind of place it would be.

This place is just meh. My dirty Shirley was clear, if that gives you any indication, and my friends gin and tonic tasted like they left out the gin. I mean I’d rather have had my vodka and sprite(missing grenadine) than just a glass of tonic. Pretty good beers here. Food is like Applebee’s.

Let’s just start by saying — I love this bar. It is my go to in wicker Park and and I can always come in by myself and don’t feel judged. It’s never crowded but never empty. I can easily watch sports(which they do play on speaker) and enjoy myself with the rest of the people in the bar. And normally all the patrons are super nice and will have no problem starting a friendly conversation. As for the bartenders in the joint. A M A Z I N G. Great service as always even if you are a regular like me! They have great hospitality and are always trying to go over the top for their customers! Food wise– yum! They do have food specials over the weekdays and Pick up as well! I would definitely try the chicken quesadilla and the buffalo wrap! The turkey burger is also spectacular and all the food is gracefully prepared by chef Armando! Seriously– don’t walk by without coming in. It’s at least worth their house shot. Firelort

A couple of weekends ago, after leaving the overly packed and loud environs of the Emporium arcade bar down the street(they were having a rap show that night), I liked the relaxed vibe when my friends and I walked in. It turned out to be a so-so kind of place with interesting drink selections but crappy service. I imagine if you went early in the night it would be fine, but I really take issue with how aggressively they were kicking us out well in advance of 2am on a Friday night. At like 1:30 they announced last call, which is annoying, but I could deal with that since admittedly the number of customers was dwindling. A few minutes later the music turns off and the other group of people there left. A few minutes after that lights are on and they’re shooting daggers at us with their eyes, not-so-secretly hoping we will leave. It is true that we were the last three people in the bar, but can’t they at least wait until it hits 2 am, the actual closing time, to kick us out, or maybe 1:55? My friends still had half-full drinks when it hit 1:45 and they forced us to leave and locked the doors behind us. Not such a relaxed place after all. I haven’t been hustled like that at a bar around closing time since I was a college kid frequenting the crappy campus dives at U of I.

Decently priced drinks — $ 7-$ 8 — I ordered Jameson rocks and gin tonics. Gets crowded around 11 – 1130. Pool table inside. There is seating with tables and at the bar. Pretty sizable space. Cool and chill bar.
