Love this place! Great Taylor st Mexican joint that’s good and affordable. I love the bowls that I get w extra avocado. I use to get these often when I lived on Taylor and now really missing it! Wished they kept longer hours.

By far one of the best tacos in the city. Very consistent, reasonably priced and I love their salsa verde and homemade chips. We get take out nearly every week at work. Highly recommend.

Food was amazing, fast, inexpensive, and the staff was amazingly attentive. My partner is lactose intolerant and forgot to mention it; one of the staff noticed him taking the cheese off of his refried beans and, even though we let her know that it was our fault for not specifying no cheese, she brought us soup on the house to «make up for it.»

Another trial in my efforts to explore Taylor west of Damen, a little foodie world I didn’t know existed. I came in for the lunch period and ordered a taco salad, which was quite cheap and filling. The ingredients were standard and simple, as was the décor and design of the place. The service was very friendly and they bring you chips and extra salsa(spicy but not too much) if you eat in. Great place to relax for lunch!

I was super pumped to go to this place based on the reviews but left somewhat disappointed. I wound up ordering two steak tacos, 1 shrimp taco, and rice and beans. Now, I chose to eat in the car because I wanted to continue to listen to THESERIAL in my car. This made me even more excited to eat my meal. I first dipped into a steak taco and was expecting magic. I got a slightly better than average steak taco. They weren’t stingy on the ingredients but it just wasn’t a great taco. The shrimp taco was sloppy and disgusting. Do not order this. A family member under the age of 3 can make a better shrimp taco. The rice and beans were the highlight. I probably would have enjoyed my meal with just that. But that’s pretty tragic. I would give this place another try though. The people working were working very hard(another hand could help) and they were very nice.

The best Mexican food in the area! I walked almost two miles from campus just to go here through the snow and it was worth it. I got a steak burrito and chicken and pork tacos and they were all delicious. And the staff was so friendly they asked me multiple times if the food was good and if I needed anything.

This is a nice little place with decent prices. They stay busy. The food is good and not covered in Greece like most taco places around here. The workers are very nice.

This place is right next to where I live and they offer amazing Mexican food. I would say that there burritos are better than Chipotle. Everything is homemade, quesadillas gorditos tacos are to die for. Friendly staff. They have this drink called tamarindo which is a really nice pop with a taste of tamarind.

Not the best place for«authentic» tacos. flavorless meat, rice and beans. Don’t think i would go back to try something different.

This is by far the best Mexican food place in the Tri-Taylor neighborhood I love the steak gordita amd the chicken taco bowl Everything is fresh and of quality. The lady at the counter is super sweet, always personable and never fails at making me smile.

After waiting for hours over at the Jesse Brown VA without eating. One of the nurses recommended this place and OMG!!! This place has some good tasting authentic food. The homemade Quesadilla was different looking but good. It reminded me of Taco Bell soft bread taco. I took a bite of my sisters taco and it was equally hearty and good!!! Oh beware of the fees of the lettuce, tomato & cheese… They ask if you would like it but fail to state it is extra. Raul is wonderful and very nice.

The four stars are based on the continuum of small Mexican restaurants. The place is clean, the tacos are fresh and the prices are decent. They might have the best shrimp tacos in town.

So I go to school within a five minute walk of this place and I’m so glad I found it because student center west has dull overpriced blah to eat… Like subway. Any way, so right away the staff here is so friendly. I literally felt like I was at my house. There’s a lot of regulars who come here and there’s good reason to. We had vegetarian tacos which were huge and had ACTUAL avocado slices in them! I don’t care if I’m a nutrition major… Thursdays when I’m here from 9am-9pm this is gonna be a regular spot for me. The lady who works there treats me like a daughter and I met her once. Love it. Feels right

Regular chairs and tables have been added so you aren’t sitting on those high bar stools anymore. Food seems better than ever. Highly recommend the following STEAK taco custom made: Steak with beans, onions(or no onions if you prefer), cilantro and avocado only. I think Rick Bayless is hiding in the back somewhere.

I think its cute the way they spelled tacos into ta koz. The spot is definitely hella small, its hella dark inside, they prefer natural lighting to light bulbs. The prices are reasonable. The tacos nothing to rave about, but its not the worst, my friends rave about the skirt steak taco and to me, its oky. Nothing fancy. So if ur in the tri taylor area and want a quick bite, stop in.

It’s all about consistency — I still love their tacos. So delicious and still a great value for what you get. Make sure you ask for items not listed on the menu. Currently they have fish tacos, sopa de fideo de pollo(chicken soup) and tamales — not on the menu — but available and super YUMMY! Be in the know! Love TaKoz!

This place is great! They have very nice and helpful people working there and the food is just great. I tried the other tacos places that have opened just down the block from them just because they were closer and that was a big mistake. TaKoz definitely has amazing steak tacos and their rice and beans are always delicious as well

My co-workers and myself try to get out of work at least once a week to either go to or get carry out from TaKoz. Adore their vegetarian taco salad! Unlike anything else on Taylor Street. Great prices! The employees are always nice and know«my usual». Gotta love it!

Nice little place. Very simple & straightforward menu, the two tacos I got were excellent & def had some flavor in them I could not put my finger on. I got the al pastor & the chicken. They come with 2 salsas, green & red. The red is tangy and nice but the green is mg favorite it had a nice hint of lime that is often overpowered in other green salsas. I always walked by this place & today I thought, what better way to compliment a salad than with 2 tacos? There was some minor confusion, after I placed my order & was waiting a second employee came out & asked what I ordered & if I paid yet. Bear in mind I was the only patron at the time. Not a big deal but it makes me question their processes. They have a good number of Mexican sodas including coca cola Mexican edition with real sugar. They also have a lot of pre packaged tamarind & horchata drinks. I need to eat here a few more times before I can be totally sold but so far so good.

They are back and stronger than ever. The old Takoz from Taylor street has been reborn in a new location and a new taste of flavor. I believe you are really going to love the prices at the new location as well as the flavorful morsels of Mexican fare. The spices in food that we all missed for almost a year has returned to take it spot amongst the ever rivaling Mexican cuisine that has landed on Taylor street in the last few years. With the closing of Joe’s and other spots, it is a very good landing in its new renovated spot. I think this time the restaurant has given itself a new life and a new outlook on what it considers to be REALLYGREATMEXICANFOOD, just how an abuela(grandma) would do in her own kitchen in off road site some-were in Mexico. Thank you for coming back and giving us probably the best Nachos with cheese and meat Taylor Street has witnessed. Burritos of charbroiled skirt steak rival the best ones on 26th street or in Pilsen. This time, the resurrection of a staple on Taylor is staying, and we are SO happy it has become the Phoenix in Little Italy.
