Tavern On Rush

$ 24 for a jack and water!!! I know people go here to see and be seen and it is a cool place with very nice bartenders but that is insanity!!! It was after 9pm and lots of people were ordering pizza’s at the bar.

The best thing about this place might just be the location, scratch that maybe its the gorgeous servers that work here, might just be the hottest in the city. One thing is for sure its not the cocktails. The old fashion here was prb one of the worst I have ever had, and the Manhattan followed suit, surprising for a place in this area. Didn’t try the food, cuz we came from brunch. As people said, it’s great for people watching, and you will prb enjoy the environment here because it is often packed. It relys strongly on its location (Viagra Triangle) and clientele (Rich Viagra Users) to keep its long reputation, but can you blame them? In the end if you take away the location, the beautiful girls and flash you got a place with little substance, maybe the «Rob Kardashian» of «Taverns».

A great place to people watch the older generation and have some fun chats. The cocktails are good, especially the Moscow mule is worth a try. Can get bit busy, especially around the bar as the evening goes on. I have always enjoyed a fun night here so worth a visit.

I live up the street from here and love that it is in the neighborhood. Walking by the outdoor patio in warmer months can be quite entertaining as it’s tends to be over the top, fabulous people watching. Meeting friends here for drinks on a snowy winter evening is my favorite though, as they make amazing martinis and a wide variety of high end bar food, think wood fired pizzas and truffle fries. If you keep your eyes open you will eventually score a high-​top table around the bar area. Ample TVs, wealthy people, and heavy pours make this a fun night out. Try the vodka infused pineapple, it will knock your stilettos off for sure.

How can I possibly write something original that hasn’t already been said about Tavern? Viagra triangle? Check. Gorgeous people and great people watching, check. Hectic, busy and bright, I always have fun here. Stellar and strong cocktails, great bar and seating area downstairs, plush dining room upstairs with floor to ceiling windows. Food always good, too. The chateaubriand and the sea bass are great choices and favorites.
A compliment or two from an older gentleman is always good for morale, too. Tavern has stuck around here forever and the reason is clear, because it’s good. Every time I come here it’s busy, loud, fun and just a good time. Stop by for a drink or dinner and you won’t be disappointed!

In good restaurant in my options salad always shut by perfect and chef of kitchen must now how to connect all things together and hear Tavern on Rush is one of the best if we talk about salad. Short shoot a+++ what a combinations of Teast !! Thank you !! I visit many times this place and very time I was happy of what I choice and eat. Place is huge and always super busy ! 2 floors, bars, patio in summer time. Stuff now what to do with you and your menu. Highly recommend this place in down town !!

I ate here with my cousin and husband one evening in March ’11 and will never forget it — it was the best piece of meat I’ve ever eaten!
We dropped in after taking in the Art Institute as it wasn’t far from the Hilton Suites where we were staying. My cousin is an old-​hand Chicago visitor but this was our first trip from the UK, so we were really impressed with the décor, service and general ambience — very Chicago to us out of towners!
It’s a little spendy but so worth it — the meat really was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth. The stuffed potatoes also were awesome and onion rings out of this world!
Would definitely recommend it for a special occasion — we ate in the bar area, the dining room might be a bit more special though.

Nice spot to hang out. The are was perfect. The service, on the other hand– was horrible. Took 1hr+ to get our pizza and never got our humus. When we inquired, the waiter was argumentative.

«I’ve been going here for the past 10 years. As a Chicago native, they treat the tourists better than the locals, which i think is insane. Every great restaurant will always give preference to locals who will support your business through thick and thin. Overall, over the past years I’ve seen the food on a downward spiral as far as quality. Im happy another quality establishment such as Maple & Ash has opened up nearby to provide good food in the area. I would suggest to the owners of Tavern and Rush to treat their loyal following in a way the rewards their loyalty».

Very nice dinner with two colleagues, as we were from out of town. We ordered their Oysters on the Half Shell (they were delicious). Their steak presentation was impressive but I ended up ordering one of their specials, the pork chop. We also ordered some wonderful sides including a wonderful Mac and Cheese, and a fantastic Fire Roasted Brussel Sprouts. Along with the cocktails and fine wine, it was the perfect end to a busy work day. The food was excellent, GREAT DINNER and service. I’ll be back!

Its a class steakhouse, in my opinion, close to the Smith and Wollensky style. Great menu with lots of choices. Able to easily accommodate someone gluten free!
Service was very attentive.

The food is okay. The drink was watered down. The service was lacking. Not too many great things to say. But it’s in a great location.

Tavern is spectacular. The food is top notch. Highly recommend the sliders (Angus or filet, I prefer the Angus).
The fries are great and the atmosphere is phenomenal for summer or winter alike. Any brunch/​dinner item is great.
Bloody Mary’s are decent but not the best in the city. If you want those: go to River Roast.
Ladies night gives away Lou Vitton shoes.

I felt extremely harassed and discriminated against by one of their employees. He reluctantly identified himself to me as «security», and I was further displeased by his lack of apology and his further fabricated testimony.
I am a Chicago law student who came by on my study break. I was quiet, well combed, and clean shaven, yet this employee felt the need to question me as if I was up to no good. When pressed why in front of his manager, he could not come up with any particular reason as to why, he felt compelled to harass me. At the time management said they regretted my experience, yet they never explicitly apologized. They further never responded to my emails seeking an apology. It was the nastiest experience I’ve felt in my life. I felt like I was treated less than human. :-/

This place is enjoyable, not so much for the food, although I enjoyed my burger, but mostly for the crowd in the heart of Gold Coast/​Viagra Triangle. You’ll see folks dressed up, having a good time. Brunch is nice here, too.

Tthhhiiss place. Okay so on a Friday night this place is jam packed! Like seriously. No room really anywhere, not sure if much dancing happens at this place but there basically wasn’t any room for that. So it appeared that most people here were crowding around the bar in giant groups and talking (the music is pretty loud though so maybe sit outside if you are here for dinner) It was also a lot more sophisticated than I expected. The avg age was probably about 40, and it was mostly business attire (I may have been under dressed)
Firstly our waitress was terrific (it’s the type of place where I suspect it is extremely rare to get bad service) They have a pretty good selection of drinks, and quite a selection of expensive liquors and cocktails (which is to be expected). In the bar aspect I’d imagine they are more or less on par with other places of the same calibre.
But I was pleasantly surprised with their menu. They had some delicious offers. I was very happy with our pizza choices. We got several and one of the best ones that came out was the Margarita pizza. It was on a great thin crust and all the ingredients tasted terrific. I’d definitely come back for the pizza.
Also there is an upstairs. But I can’t really say what that’s like. Also, might I add that this is a terrific place for people watching if you are into that sort of thing, many characters were in full swing at this place (apparently the corner it’s on is know as the Viagra triangle, haha). Gave us all a laugh really.

This has been on my list of restaurants to try for a very long time & last night I finally came here. I am not sure why there are so many negative reviews about this place as I thought my entire dining experience was immaculate.
Right from the start, our waiter was attentive & friendly. We were a large group & he accommodated all of our requests. I ordered a dirty martini to begin, & oh man, SO GOOD. My expectations for the food were not insanely high as I feel like the concept of this restaurant is so common in this area & River North. However, everything was amazing. Not one person I was with had any complaints about their food.
I would honestly say this was the best service I have had in Chicago in quite some time. Along with the amazing waiters, the great food & drinks will definitely have me making this place a regular.

My wife and I had a great dinner at tavern on rush last night, she had the tuna tartare with a Caesar salad and I had a filet mignon with a house salad and a side of creamed spinach! The food tasted great and the service was good too however I was a little taken aback when our waitress told us that I couldn’t substitute my house salad for a Caesar salad, apparently they don’t do substitutes even if you’re willing to pay the difference which I was, the only option was to charge me for the entire salad which I refused and ended up having to settle for the house salad.
We were seated upstairs but they have a nice bar downstairs which serves amazing martinis! I would definitely recommend this restaurant especially in the summer when it’s nice and warm out, they have a very nice patio!

It was a nice beautiful day out in chicago! We wanted to go somewhere where we can eat outside. My cousin and I decided to stop here after doing some shopping! We were hungry and there were so many restaurants around, we had no idea where to go. I’m so happy we stopped by here because everything we had was really delicious.
we both had the salmon sandwich with fries… the salmon was really good, it’s probably one of the best salmon i’ve had in awhile… in a sandwich anyways.
for our appetizers, we had shrimp and calamari for an appetizer which was very flavorful and presentation of the food looked nice!
drinks, we had a blueberry lemon drop martini! it was very strong and very good!
downfall about this place is that if you decide to eat outside, it can be very tight! especially if you have a handbag or shopping bags lol

This place is a staple of chicago. I’ve been coming here regularly for 5 years and nothing has really changed. My goto for brunch and cocktails on any night.
Patio In the summer is the best for people watching. The bar in the winter always has a strong crowd. Nice waitresses, good service and a DJ playing loud music. My favorite thing about this place is the diversity of the menu additionally if there is not something you care for offered you can always ask for something custom to which they are happy to accomidate.
My favorite are the eggs Lola, seafood tower, and the burgers. Don’t forget their ice cream sunday it’s huge and amazing. I’ve never been to the actual restaurant upstairs. I much prefer the bar area.
