Came here for the first time recently and fell in love. The front appears a little divey, but what you realize very quickly as you move towards the back is that this place has a little style and a very unique vibe. Pool tables up front are always crowded with people waiting to play and if you don’t know what you’re doing you should consider playing elsewhere. These guys don’t mess around. Juke box towards the back lets you control your music and the volume is just right. Great place to hang out, have a drink and a good chat with friends. I’ll be coming back over and over. It’s nice to be someplace away from the pretentiousness of River North and the frat culture of Wrigleyville.

As a bar I would give this place four stars but their billiards set up is the best I have seen in chicago for a non pool hall. Their tables are large and level and their sticks aren’t belt and missing crucial components. It really makes a big difference even if you’re just shooting around with friends. The bar has a pretty good beer selection and they aren’t overly priced. I would recommend coming on a week night when you can hang out and drink a beer while playing lots of pool without having to fight over a table.

Love this bar. The guys made it super easy to host a party in their back room and the entire place just has a great vibe. Can’t wait to go back!

Ten Cat is easily one of my favorite bars in the city. It’s got a comfortable, laid back living-room vibe and is rarely over crowded. One of the best features is the amazing outdoor patio in the summertime. The staff is genuinely friendly and helpful and the beer selection is good.

Although located on one of Chicago’s large North-South thoroughfares, Ten Cat is off the«beaten path» drawing patrons serious about cool kitchy dive bars, with witty décor and stiff drinks. Pool table, challengers thereof, and outdoor patio included; bros excluded.

This place stinks. Total dive. Supposed to open at 3 p.m. Nobody is ever there on time. I work in the area and sometimes want to grab a quick drink on the way home. I Head that way around 3:30. Nobody there. Boooooo

Low-key and chill. Have never seen too many people here, but it’s a great place with nice décor if you just want to relax with a bunch of friends.

A low key bar with free pool. The outdoor section is great and the patrons are very friendly.

I just moved to the area, and I’m grateful to have such a good bar around. Great beers on tap, laid-back atmosphere, nice back patio, friendly faces, and dogs allowed. What else could you want in a place?

My go to bar after work. How can you go wrong? The bartenders are amazing(Larry, Lucy, and Paris) the atmosphere is perfect and dark. There are a couple of pool tables and a back room with a fireplace. Love this place.

Super low key loungey bar. Sadly, I saw zero cats while boozing at Ten Cat Tavern, but we did see one dog. The dog was just chilling with its owner in the front of the bar. Me likey. It was a tad too cold to sit outside in the back patio, so my man and I staked out a few seats beside the roaring fire in the back of the bar. Yes, they have a fireplace AND a nice back patio. In the middle of the bar are two pool tables and a jukebox. The seating and décor is funky and mismatched. It’s very homey and comfortable. This would be a great place so spend a relaxing night drinking some beers out back. With or without(ten) cats.

One of my favorite bars in Chicago. Awesome bartenders, great juke box, and cold beers. It’s got a nice fire place in the back, and a solid beer garden to enjoy in the summer.

One of my favorite dives in the area. This goes great with The Long Room as some of my favorite hangouts on the irving park stretch. Great lounge and feel to this place overall. Two pool tables and plenty of pool players even though I am not one of them. A lot of great taps and decent prices. They have a fireplace and a great jukebox. I haven’t been out in the garden yet as I have only been here in the winter. I have to say for what it is its exactly what I want in a bar and a place. Love going here.

Generally, I like Ten Cat. Inexpensive drinks, a cozy back room with a fireplace, an old juke box with BB King and the outdoor beer garden are its strong points. It also has board games so it’s fun with a group of friends. Though I’m in the neighborhood and it’s only a short walk away, I avoid this place on Thursday nights because of the pool teams. Too crowded for my taste. Overall though, great bar.

Cool local spot! Its hard to find and it really doesnt look like a bar. looks more like an art gallery! The inside is basilly the layout of a house which gives it a cozy feeling. There are 2 pool tables for anyone to use and a nice outdoor patio. The drinks were cheap(compared to other bars in the area). Everyone at the bar seemed cool and laid back!

Here’s the good, the bad, and the ugly. The good is that the bartenders were sincerely nice, helpful and friendly. The bad is that they serve Barefoot wine. It’s really terrible wine and provides an even worse hangover. The ugly is that someone needs to stop adding«art» to this place. I was here years ago and it seemed to be more of a truly vintage bar. Now it looks like a bad arts and craft studio. The patio has this great urban backyard charm, but they could probably get in another table or two if they edited the«decorative» planters that have invaded so much space. Why so much real estate for cheesy flower pots? Still, it’s a pretty solid place to meet up with friends. I’d go back, but skip the wine.

This place is a hidden Gem(no really hidden), walked around the block a couple of times trying to find it and when we finally did, its amazing how big the place is especially for being on the second floor.(They need to invest in better signage) Its a bowling alley but has much more to offer like a stage and massive island bar good for group events or watching some local bands. Drink prices are fair and comparable.

If I got rid of my kids again soon, I’d be back here in a heartbeat. We were in because our friend was moving off to California and we were having a going away party for him. I guess they won’t let you rent the place out or anything but they have a room in the back that you can lay out food and whatnot. It worked out well! Plus they have a cute little beer garden. I LOVE the«vintage charm» this place has. The bartender was super friendly. Absolutely loved her. She explained that the name is Ten Cat because the mural on the wall has ten cats in it. So, of course, we had to sit and find the cats. As of recently, they have begun taking credit cards. It used to be a cash only establishment.
