I found the cooked meats at Texas de Brazil to be far juicer and rarer than at Fogo de Chao. Though the salad bar is lacking in comparison to Fogo– so it’s a bit of a trade off among the two. The garlic sirloin and flank steak are top notch. The bacon wrapped chicken is also terrific. However, the service at this place is just fantastic. Excellent servers, waiters and management that are very attentive without being annoying or intrusive. Great attention to detail and they really try to make your requests happen as effortlessly and quickly as possible.

After a long day of site seeing we came here for dinner before we left the city. Walking in it is beautifully decorated and we got sat at a window seat which was appreciated. It was rather warm in the restaurant so that could have been better. Wasn’t too impressed with the drink menu but ordered anyways and it came with a fly inside. Gross, pointed it out and got a replacement quickly. The food. Oh the food. Loved the salad bar, and blue cheese dressing was outstanding! And the sauce for the asparagus was excellent. The meats were great too! The parmesan sirlon and the sausage were my 2 favorites. All in all it was excellent and we all left with full bellies

We were visiting Chicago and after seeing advertisements decided to give it a try. We got there early(6pm) and beat the rush that seemed to hit closer to 7pm. We didn’t know what to expect, but I can tell you that the food and the service was top notch. The meat was extremely well seasoned and melted in your mouth like butter. The salad bar offered a nice variety of high end items that tantalized the taste buds. Karin, the manager was wonderful and our waiter, Bruno was the best. We were treated extremely well and it was hard to believe that we stayed for two and a half hours. There was no rush from the staff at all to leave… In fact they often suggested we eat more. Mind you I’ve never been to another Brazilian steakhouse, but I can tell you the food and experience was well worth the money.

I was skeptical about this, as it sounded really odd and performy. The food was fantastic though, and I loved the selections from the salad bar.

I was so happy to have my birthday dinner here. The staff were very attractive, very outgoing, and the interior was absolutely stunning. The layout is kinda wonky though. As other Unilocalers have mentioned, if you are sitting along the sides or in the back, the salad bar is quite a ways away. To be honest, I love TdB way more than Fogo! The meats were seasoned better!

Very disappointed with the quality customer service here. Our server was talking and not listening, special orders was not delivered and grumpy looking. I know anyone has his/her bad days but when you come to work come ready to work. I asked the manager to change the server for us and the new one, younger and more knowledgeable did the job just fine. Quality of food is at par with other steak houses, nothing special. Food bar has limited options, although we went for dinner, meet cuts were delivered as requested. The house special sirloin was offered to make up for the bad service and it was just perfect, flank medium done is next to that. Wouldn’t recommend this place to my best friend as i don’t want them to be disappointed with how much money paid.

The food was excellent. But the service and layout of the restaurant is horrible. It’s as if the kitchen was in the center and the tables are around it. It has sharp edges that don’t have a lot of room for people to walk through. Also the salad bar is all the way up front and the people in the back don’t have a way to walk safely to access the salad bar entities. Overall the food is great. If you dine here, just request to sit up front if possible.

I’m a big fan of brazillian BBQ and I frequent fogo de chao. I noticed that Texas de Brazil had opened back up in chicago and I decided to give it a chance. Halfway through the lunch, I turned to my guest and said, «we’ve made a terrible mistake.» This restaurant loses out to Fogo de Chao in EVERY way. The location is odd and a little hard to find. The dining room has a weird layout that is really poor for the concept. But most disappointing was the food. It’s just much worse than Fogo and they have a limited menu for lunch(while Fogo serves the whole menu for lunch). And the food that they did serve was just not good. Please do not go here.

I’m giving one star for the customer service experience. Someone spent over 200 .00 with my credit information at this location, now I work in a field where I see quite a bit of stolen Credit cards, and they’re usually pretty identifiable. It is clear to me there is no training on how to identify a suspicious card, or how to check for an ID on such a large purchase. When i contacted customer relations they were U apologetic, and refused to admit any fault while shifting attention away from their establishment. A Careless establishment with careless workers, not a place to dine.

This is our favorite Texas de Brazil. And we also happen to live and work nearby. The staff is outstanding and they get the meat right every single time. Management staff is the best. So many times we’ve gone, and they welcome us with open arms.(They’re never stingy with the pao de queso either!)

I remember my first time here… I never knew such service existed! We felt like Kings and Queens(it was my first Brazilian Steakhouse experience). After being to a few others since, and this one multiple times, I believe this is the best of them all. From the service — to the ambiance — to the food… Professional and accommodating wait staff; at the flip of a coaster they’re at your table and they’re attentive to your steak preferences. Large, busy restaurant, yet, fairly private table seating. Plus, there was this Ariel Acrobat performance in the background which was just really cool to look at. And the food… OMGoodness, the food! By far, the best salad bar you will find among the Brazilian Steakhouses’, providing an entire sushi bar, my favorite ever Lobster Bisque(soups), fine cheeses, meats, salad fixings and veggies. All you can eat salad bar and steak. So…if you get on their email list, you get B1G1 free deals. Gained a little weight with that deal ;)

This place is like the McDonalds of Brazilian Steakhouses. The atmosphere is not comfortable and it felt kind of trashy. The meat was way overcooked and the service was terrible. There are so many fabulous steakhouses in Chicago. Texas De Brazil is not one of them.

We didn’t have a reservation but luckily only had to wait 30 minutes in a packed restaurant. The service was outstanding, our waitress would stop by our table often to check up on us and the moment we turned our cards green a rush of people came to offer us different types of meat. Some of the meat was a bit to salty, although our waitress said we could order it without salt, we didn’t want to wait that long and figured it was a few that were over seasoned but more than a few were. We just ate a lot more of the side we had to kind of take away some of the salt from the meat. The traditional Brazilian cocktail was amazing. They also offer military discount which is always a plus.

I got to try this new Texas De Brazil location for my mother’s and aunt’s birthdays. We have been to Brazilian steakhouses before, and we were looking forward to hanging out here for a birthday celebration. As far as Brazilian steakhouses go, I was underwhelmed and disappointed. First of all, this location is very tiny. Very tiny. It is attached to a condo(I think) and plays almost like a hotel restaurant add-on. Think«Texas De Brazil lite». Now, of course, you get everything you would expect at a place like this: gaucho service, an extensive salad buffet(and with lobster bisque soup), and all of the glorious meats. I would have to say, the food I’ve experienced at other Brazilian steakhouses is better than what I had this night. Our bread seemed to be not as fresh and warm as usual. The meats were cooked okay, but I’ve had much better seasonings at other places. Service was a bit spotty. Our waiter seemed to be a little off on his game. It was hard to get some meats because it was hard to track down some of the gauchos(which seems kinda odd since the place is so small). My mother received the wrong piece of cake for her birthday treat(It was supposed to be a surprise-we pre-ordered it before we even arrived, but even that was forgotten about. Le sigh). Of course we still made it a good time, but I was disappointed that I chose this location to show my family what Brazilian steakhouses could be. It really fell short for us. Maybe we came on a bad night, but when you spend this much money and want to celebrate such a special occasion, you expect better.

The restaurant is decorated nicely and the main room(where the salad bar is) is big and roomy but that’s where it ends. The rest of seating is squared around like a hallway and pretty much leaves little room for all the traffic(servers, customers, etc). I point that out first because we were seated at one of these corner hallways and where I was sitting was literally in the way where traffic passed by. At the end of the evening when I was getting up I accidentally elbow the server and the mashed potatoes he was carrying. To my credit I was turned around and didn’t even know he was behind me, again due to the hallway shaped sitting area. Food at the salad bar was great and the meats are great. The server was very attentive although we couldn’t understand what he was saying half the time(thick accent and couldn’t enunciate his words). We just kept smiling and saying yes to whatever he said. Overall a nice experience. I just wished there was more room around the seating and table areas.

ok I absolutely love this place the food is amazing… however this review is in regards to the service. I know we all can get a server that is having a bad day we all have bad days, this server wasn’t that kind of server. We had a large group of 13 and sat at a nice long table…(a mutual friend combined our table with her co– workers table) so we all sat down and our waiter started with drink orders. My wife and another wife in OUR party decided to split a pitcher of sangria(which is $ 37 a pitcher but amazing btw) and they stated to the waiter that them two would split a pitcher and he said it was a great choice. Once the waiter brought the pitcher he served us and we left the pitcher at a empty place setting so it was out of the way. So shortly after we then see the waiter start serving our pitcher to others at the table, which I thought was weird but by the time I notice it was too late. The server came to me and stated, I’m going to go head and get another pitcher because I served others at the other end of the table. so I assumed he knew he made mistake and was going to correct it. That wasn’t the case he charged us for two pitchers… when I question why we were charged two pitchers of sangria he stated he told me he was going to and I stated no you said you were going to get another because you severed people you weren’t suppose to and he continued to argue with me. I mean who does that, so instead of making a scene I just said whatever that’s fine. I didn’t agree with this but just be careful the food is great I will be back just service is disappointing in this case. Oh and when the server came back he didn’t even give complete change to any of the tickets he shorted everyone the change so if your change back was 2.50 he would just give you $ 2 one ticket he shorted the $ 10 lol so be careful with this server… debating on giving his name on here or not let me know if you want to know email me and I will give it

Lamb chops were good, other meats were decent BUT please do NOT place thin sliced portions of a California roll on your salad bar and say you have sushi. Waiter seemed to be spread thin perhaps this is because it was Restaurant week not sure.

Having dined at Fogo de Chao, Chima(in Philly), Brazzaz(now closed) I knew what to expect when I made reservations at Texas de Brazil. I mean you dine at one Brazilian Steakhouse, with endless amounts of meat being lavished upon you, you dined at them all. Every piece of meat that was placed on my plate I liked, except for the chicken drumette. The Parmesan Crusted Pork and the chicken wrapped in bacon really tickled my fancy… so good so good so good! The drinks here are good, but on the weak side. There’s also a salad bar which they claim has 50 – 60 items, but I don’t really believe that(I should have counted). On the salad bar you’ll find cold cuts, cheeses, sushi(skip), rice, black beans, Au Gratin Potatoes, Lobster Bisque Soup(more like lobster flavored) asparagus, etc. All and all a decent salad bar, but make sure you don’t fill up on that as you have to save room for all that meat that will be coming to your table. The downside of this place is that the layout sucks. I felt to me that this place was laid out in a J shape(though my friend said a U). Either way we were seated on the complete opposite side of the salad bar so we had to walk 3 miles around servers, patrons coming and going and tables to get there. Being that I had already done my cardio for the day I only made that trek once. All and all I’m giving this place 3 stars because the meats were good and the service was good from the time we entered until the time we left. P.S I tried to say meats as many time as possible.

For restaurant week, we decided to give Texas de Brazil a try since they had a really good deal at $ 33 for all you can eat. Like other reviewers, we had a little bit of a hard time finding the restaurant. We took an Über and ended up on the lower Wacker part of Illinois St vs upper Wicker. It took us a little bit to figure it out. The restaurant itself was nice, but I agree that the hallway layout is a little strange and slightly inconvenient. We kept feeling like we were running into people when we had to go from the back to front to get food from the salad bar. Overall, food was pretty good. From a salad bar option perspective, I definitely think Zed 451 has a much better selection(also better for those individuals looking just to purchase the salad bar alone). The salad was pretty standard and I can’t say anything really stood out. The hot sides were decent. The lobster bisque had great flavor, but I think if there were chunks of lobster, it would elevate the soup. The potatoes au gratin were definitely cheesy, but could use a little more flavor. In terms of the meat(in my opinion, the most important part), the beef was a home run. We could not top eating the flank steak and filet. They were both so tender and juicy, not to mention packed with flavor. The pork was also pretty good. My least favorite was probably the parmesan chicken because it was just a shy too salty. Oh, and how I forgot to totally mention the delicious and addictive Brazilian bread is beyond me. They also bring mashed potatoes and plantains to the table. I am not a plantain fan so I honestly can’t comment. The mashed potatoes were decent. Finally, the cocktails were really tasty, but its hard to drink when you’re eating that much meat. Finally, with regards to service, we had a great experience. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and attentive. The gauchos didn’t mess around either. The minute our token was green, they immediately descended onto our table.

Texas de Brazil is the better Brazilian BBQ joint IMO. Better than FOGO. This new location is definitely a step up from what I remember before(at the older location). We came on a weekday and it felt like the entire restaurant was reserved for us. We had a waiter, a trainee waitress, a bread guy, the meat guys, and the hostess… all waiting and serving us. We felt like VIP here. I joked around with my friends that I rented the entire place for us. A shout out for Edgar and Sarah. Both spent an entire two hours pampering us and making a wonderful evening for us~ The salad bar here out does the one at FOGO. Come here if you want to become a pig. BTW do the papaya cream for dessert. Worth the extra $ 9.

So let me start by saying that I have frequented many Brazilian steakhouses over the years and it is a very unique, enjoyable experience, though I would not recommend visiting this location. The other reviewers are correct — this location is hard to locate because the sign is small and on the ground and the layout of the restaurant is super awkward and just horrible overall because of how cramped it is. Took a cab for lunch on a Saturday and had to call the restaurant for directions because I couldn’t spot it right away. The hostess was unfamiliar with the nearby streets so when I tried saying I was by the NBC tower she did direct me to start walking«east»…for anyone that’s from out of town I don’t see how that would be helpful and I still had to just hangup and figure it out on my own. We were seated near the back of the restaurant behind a wall which is totally fine, though it was very far from the salad bar(it’s in the front) and a narrow walk. The only bathrooms are in the very front so when walking down that hall you definitely have to be careful someone doesn’t back into you or turn the corner. The service itself was unfortunately poor in comparison to not only other Brazilian steakhouses(Fogo de Chao, etc), but also the Texas de Brazil location in the Woodfield Mall. It just wasn’t up to par — for example, at other places, they are ready to provide you with a clean plate as soon as you transition from salad to meat or as soon as your finish your beverage they are right by your side to refill it. Not sure if being seated behind the wall just made us difficult to see or what but it really wasn’t that busy and I expect a higher caliber of service at this type of restaurant. Also one of the gauchos had to ask us more than halfway through the meal if we would like mashed potatoes and fried bananas when normally these items are waiting for you at the table as soon as you get back from the salad bar. The quality of the food also wasn’t that great compared to, again, other similar restaurants and the Woodfield location. I also order my meat medium there but a lot of the pieces were too raw and chewy. I guess I could’ve ordered it well done instead but the fact that it was inconsistent was annoying. One of the house special meats that the manager recommended tasted rancid to me which I have never experienced before. Not sure what was up with that. In general I feel like the selection of meats is lacking at Texas de Brazil in comparison to Fogo de Chao so the chewy and rancid tasting meat didn’t help. Disappointed — wouldn’t visit this location again. Also I’m even judging myself for how long this review is.

I like the chain. No matter where I am in the US, I scan for a Texas. This one is pretty good, but when they are busy, you will be waiting for the delicious cuts of meat. I have learned that when the lamb chops come, take as many as you think you can eat. Then tell the lamb chop guy to come back often. They are constantly trying to get you to take the fillers… I would hate being the sausage and chicken guy.

First of all, the positive: –Service: the staff was attentive and personable. –Food: same great quality I’ve come to expect from TdB Negative: I’m still scratching my head as to why TbB choose this location for their Chicago restaurant. The old Ohio St restaurant may have gotten a bit expensive– fine. But, their current location seems like a poor choice. Reasons: –No signage to indicate that the restaurant is tucked away in the rear of a building. –No parking, no valet for the restaurant; I drove onto upper Illinois, then drove around lower Illinois looking for a valet– found a self-service parking lot. –terrible layout Once inside, I was disappointed with experience– the«feel» of the place. The tables are scattered along a narrow lobby of a building, as an afterthought, not as a restaurant. We were seated at farthest table, away from the entrance. I had to sidestep waiters and customers at least 3 – 4 times before getting to my table. Don’t know if I’ll return: If I crave TdB, I’ll probably go to another location, but I’ll definitely drop my loyalty to TdB and explore the other Brazilian steakhouses downtown/River North.

Awesome. Service was top notch, to start. The salad bar was incredible — one of the best at Texas de Brasil so far. The meat selection was great, as to be expected. Texas de Brazil has an awesome concept. It’s an all-you-can-eat Brazilian Steakhouse. Waiters come around with slabs of meat, and you get to pick exactly what type of meat you want and how well you want it cooked. You determine when you want to eat with a flip of a card. In addition, there’s awesome a nice salad bar. The price for this is $ 45.99. My favorite meats are the Brazilian Picanha and Flank Steak. You must make room to try those two! Don’t go crazy when you get here. Figure out which meats you want to try out first and then accept them. If you get too much meat at one time, all of your meat will be cold by the time you get to them. I’ve learned my mistake the first time. NOTE: Don’t worry vegetarians! You can opt for the the salad bar, which is only $ 24.99/person. This restaurant has the potential to cater to all. In addition, you get sides of fried bananas, mashed potatoes and Brazilian cheese bread. I love the cheese bread and fried bananas. They’ll even keep replacing your cheese bread with fresh warm ones, when your bread goes cold. Also, their lobster bisque is to die for! Unfortunately, there are no lobster chunks in there, but it’s still really good! If it wasn’t for the poor service, I would’ve rated this place 4 stars. I’m a slow eater, and I absolutely hate feeling rushed through a meal, especially if it’s at an all-you-can-eat restaurant. I like to take my time and enjoy my meal with a good conversation. Throughout our meal, our server kept trying to take away my plate when I was still eating. I’m sure he was trying to be attentive but I had to tell him multiple times that I was still eating and NO, he cannot take away my plates. He even had the nerve to ask me, «Can you tell me what exactly are you still working on?» I was speechless… Doesn’t he know that he shouldn’t take food away from hangry girls? He even kept mentioning how we shouldn’t fill up, so we can have room for dessert. Unbelievable. We definitely will NOT be returning here. Go to Fogo!

Texas de Brazil is a Dallas-based Brazilian-Churrascaria steakhouse that offers the AYCE meats(filet mignon, flank steak, pork loin, pork ribs, lamb chops, beef ribs, lamb, Brazilian sausages, drumettes, etc.) on skewers, a seasonal salad area with soups and salads(breads, fresh cheeses, deli meats, olives, sauteed veggies, rice, sushi, etc.), and complimentary small plates of sides(garlic mashed potatoes, sweet fried bananas, Brazilian cheese bread, and the house sauces). As other Brazilian steakhouses, you have the mini card where when the red faces up, you are not interested in receiving more meats; when the green faces up, you are interested in having more meats(but, you are more than welcome to deny the cuts/meat that you’re not a fan of). I used to go to their original location, but after a leasing problem and a few years, the restaurant managed to score another spot in the Streeterville area. While the space is smaller, this allows all the tables to be accessed and the patrons receive as much meat as possible! A few of my friends came here for lunch, and while the place was packed, we were able to score a table! The daily weekday lunch special is about $ 25 per person, so I find that as a bargain(as all the main meats that you have ever wanted are featured!). I really like their flank steak the best, as it’s so juicy and flavorful. While the buffet area has a nice variety for those who want some salads and side items, I usually save room for the cheese breads and the sweet plantains! If you have a larger group(15 or more), they have a semi-private dining room as well that you can call ahead and reserve. The place is new new new, so I hope their meats and the service keeps up! Located at the Optima building, garage parking is highly recommended. +new location! +flank steak! +unlimited meats +unlimited salad bar trips +unlimited sides +smaller dining area +located in the Optima building
