ThatChicago Photo Lessons

Ovi’s class was very helpful. I bought my first DSLR thanks to the guidance I received through his ThatChicago facebook page! Afterwards, I signed up for an introductory class on how to use my new DSLR.
The group met in Millennium Park and Ovi started off the lesson by reviewing the body of the camera and what every mode and button does. After reviewing some basic terminology, we walked around Millennium Park looking for photo opportunities while Ovi continued to talk about different photography methods and techniques.
Ovi is very thorough and answered all our questions throughout the lesson. Any questions who couldn’t answer regarding camera settings, he followed up on via email after the class was over. Overall, the lesson felt very laid back and allowed you to experiment on your own as you listened in and explored Millennium Park.
It seems that he offers a variety of classes, but definitely recommended for anyone just getting into photography.

I found Ovi’s DSLR class to be great. He is patient, funny and knowledgeable. He is able to explain the concepts very clearly. The small class size helped everyone get personal attention, so it did not make a big difference if you already had some DSLR photography knowledge or none at all (I for one have a DSLR and took three photography classes before this one yet, I learned and was able to get answers to problems that I was having.). Also, we all had different cameras but that did not present a problem, he was able to help everyone maneuver around their camera settings.
I really appreciate the practicality of the class since we are out and about and practicing what he is teaching right then and there. He even took the opportunity of teaching us out how to take pictures of running water when we were caught in a sever rain storm.
I am sorry I will miss his July night photography, I hope he offers it again later this summer.

I have actually had the privilege to say all my photography skills have been acquired through the patient, dedicated, hands-​on lessons that Ovi H provided me. through both private and group lesson he gave us interactive fun lessons starting with how to use the basics on my DSLR. Touring the city provided unique artistic venues I had never visited, but most importantly it taught me to see with an artistic eye, something I lacked. This new found skill allows me to capture my own important moments, moments I wish to express artistically, and the ability to begin understanding the world or photography and the world of art. I highly encourage others to ask him for recommendations of places based on the skills you wish to acquire. If you are like me and have no idea where to start, a short conversation with him will allow him to make great recommendations.
