I did not love my experience at the Aberdeen Tap but it was not a bad experience. No one was in anyone else’s business which was great. Service was fine, prices were okay. Draft offerings were alright, no real standouts but again maybe I was there in an off week. I’d try it again if I were in need of a drink while in the neighborhood.

3.5 but whatevs Great little neighborhood spot. We took my Aunt and Uncle here for a bite to eat on NY day. Mac N Cheese bites-pretty good… I was expecting more to the homemade goodies. Chee-Vap-good, but kind of dry and awkward to eat… am I supposed to roll it? Bite off it? Is there sauce on here? Burger-very average. All the fries were the fat fries that I love… but they all tasted stale. The place was bumping so our server was kind of a miss. Overall, seems like a great neighborhood bar… not really sold on the food. Maybe if we came here to drink…

Every time you walk in the door, you are greeted by the most outstanding staff. Every time!!! The day we moved in and walked into The Aberdeen Tap we were greeted by Mickey and Crunk and we knew we had found our new favorite watering hole. The drink mixology and exploration to ensure that you get exactly what you want is unrivaled in Chicago(or in any city for that matter). The bartending team may surprise you with a drink making contest to outdo each other on «who can make the best cocktail» and you will laugh so hard at their wit and humor. The juke box makes for a fun, «never know what you will hear next» kind of evening. Belly up at the bar, tell the bar tender what you like, and get ready for an incredibly fun experience.

Great food and a wonderful beer selection. We started with the macaroni bites and their house-made ranch is muy delicioso. Both the duck and pork belly grinders are pretty good and the sweet potato tots are the obvious choice for a side(well worth the $ 2 upcharge).

I’d driven by The Aberdeen Tap dozens of times, but it wasn’t until I moved into River West that a friend suggested it for dinner. I love eating outside in the summer, and I visited it three times in a couple of months. Especially like that it’s on a street without the heavy traffic and auto exhaust that spoil so many outdoor restaurants. The border of planters with flowers adds a nice touch. And street parking wasn’t a problem. The first visit I ordered the fish tacos, which were breaded and kind of over-powered the fish. But I loved the Duck Confit grinder, an open-faced sandwich with duck, garlic aioli and fried duck skin(ask to substitute the fries with sweet potato tots). And since I’m a fan of hummus, I want to recommend theirs, which is homemade and definitely superior to the stuff that comes in containers. Service is always important, as it can make or break an evening. Have always had friendly, efficient service here. Was particularly impressed by the seamless way our server moved us to another table when a large group of guys nearby became really«vocal.» I’ve never made it inside other than to take a quick look, but now that winter is almost upon us, will definitely come back. It looks cozy with a neighborhood vibe, which is always great when the snow flies in Chicago.

Attentive and kind service. Good Moscow Mules, although NOT in the copper cups. Big no no to me. Upbeat bar, average age maybe 30. I did not approve of the bathroom for one at a time. What the HECK takes women so long to friggin pee? I was surely doing my pee pee dance. Found free parking nearby on the street on a Saturday night.

Great place for food and drinks! I ordered the Cubano grinder — pulled pork, ham, dijonaise, swiss cheese and pickles served with sweet potato tots. The bread of the open-faced sandwich was soft and the pulled pork was tender. I especially enjoyed the sweet potato tots! They were perfectly crispy and hot and the dipping sauce was delicious. I also ordered a cider and it was very refreshing. It was a nice day so the group I was with decided to sit outside in the patio area. Our server was very friendly and frequently checked up on us. Aberdeen Tap is a great neighborhood tavern! I definitely want to come back and try other things on their menu.

This is one of my favorite bars. Getting parking nearby is hell, but if you live close, this is really quite a gem. The beer selection is great, and the food is better than the average pub grub. Outdoor seating is wonderful during the summer, and they always have something interesting playing. .The bar has two main rooms, but we usually stay near the bar. During nights, it can be a bit hard to find a seat, but moving around talking to new people is part of the fun. The crowd averages around the early thirties. Drop by to watch the game or for a quick escape from the office.

This is a really great spot that I’ve passed a million times before. Don’t pass it! Great spot for date night as it’s a short walk from the Grand blue line stop. Nice selection of beers and the food was fantastic. We split some fish tacos and a crawfish banger — you read that correctly. The fish was fried perfectly and very well put together, and despite not knowing what a crawfish sausage would taste like, I feel like it was spot on. Big flavors. I’ll definitely return… when you see«chiliyaki» as a wing sauce option, you kind of need to explore that.

i was looking for a place to watch playoff hockey and a friend recommended the aberdeen tap. good call. good beer selection? check. full bar? check. kitchen turning out quality vittels? bet your butt attentive waitstaff? check check. outdoor seating? check neighborhoody vibe? check almost forgot… enough t.v.‘s to comfortably watch an event? check it’d be hard to be more impressed with a venue than the blackhawks cup run, but the menu, beer selection and feel of this place make it a winner just the same.

Sunday patio cocktails perfection. We stumbled upon The Aberdeen Tap’s patio when we were leaving the West Loop Art Fest. They had $ 5 bloody marys on Sundays and the rest is history. We also had the hummus plate which was really good!

Headed over to The Aberdeen Tap one gorgeous Wednesday evening… and was really happy with the whole night. Great service — my drink never went dry. Great patio — Ahhh, summers in Chicago. So perfect! Great food — Chee-Vaps — Uncased croation sausage w/grilled pita, tzatziki sauce and ajvar. Dude, the Chee-Vaps are awesome. Grilled Chicken Sandwich — Marinated Chicken Breast, with BBQ Sauce On A Pretzel Bun with Steak Fries. All of that for $ 9, and so delish! Their beer selection is on point — Such a great neighborhood bar — and a fun first date for me, on that gorgeous Wednesday evening.

It’s about time I write a review for this place. The staff has always been great and is focused on making sure people enjoy themselves. Last night was the first time I went for the 5 $ burger and fries… that is a steal of a deal. They always have great local beers on draft Food is amazing Great indoor and outdoor seating More than enough tv’s to watch any game.

Whoever the bartender was on tonight 06/27/2015 was a complete asshole that should be fired from this otherwise great establishment. Apparently he works only Fridays which is a good thing. Rude, inhospitable, unprofessional, there were three of us, got into an unnecessary argument with me, made a kissing gesture to my friend. Uncalled for! Yes, the three of us got up and left very unhappy. We love this place and it would be a shame to abandon it. Now, why the big fuss right? Simple, If I were the owner, I would want to know about the disservice to the establishment.

«No one should have to drink shitty beer» — Wise Person Who Knows Good Beer This is one of the main reasons you should go to the Aberdeen Tap. You should be drinking good beer from their extensive beer menu served by wise people who make you smile. Isn’t this what intelligent people look for in a bar? And while you’re there… check out some of the fantastic food. The bangers are very good, the BLT made my mouth happy(and we all know that’s what’s important), I like the hummus platter and the greek salad with chicken too. Oh! Fried macaroni and cheese! How can I forget about that?! Need another reason to show your pretty face at the Aberdeen Tap? The staff. They are lovely people who serve you food and alcohol. I, for one, like pretty much anyone who keeps my glass full, but these nice people make me feel especially warm and fuzzy. So, what are you waiting for? Go there. Eat and drink and be merry. And save me a seat at the bar pleaseandthankyou. PS. What’s with all the reviews hating on Nate? The man is an adequate bartender and trusty humanitarian. Lay off the guy.

Solid neighborhood joint in the West Loop. Unique and tasty grinders, bangers, and sammies. Hubby had the crawfish banger and said it was great, they also have gator and wild boar bangers if that interests you. The fried Mac and cheese balls are a must. Great beer selection also. I would come back if in the neighborhood.

I have been carefully considering whether or not to write this review because I love the Aberdeen Tap so much I do not want to foster competition for my favorite spot at the bar. Bottom line: this is the perfect Chicago neighborhood bar. It is no frills, often with 90’s early 2000’s hip hop/rap playing and bartenders who know every lyric. They have a patio outside where you can even bring your favorite four-legged friend which I love. They have a great selections of beers so I’m confident everyone can find something they like. The food is great. The first several times I came I just wanted to have a drink but I have slowly begun to work my way through the menu and it’s amazing. First rule of ordering: you need the fried mac and cheese squares. I know what you’re thinking. It sounds like preprocessed fair food. It’s not. It is bite-sized pieces of heaven. Just trust me. They also have a great selection of other bar food including grinders and bangers. I recently ordered the lamb banger which is served with a truffle giardiniera. It had great flavor and paired well with the sweet potato tots I ordered. They also have a great buttermilk ranch at Aberdeen so if you’re a true mid-westerner who requires a side of ranch with most items they have you covered. To good food and even better cocktails!

The Aberdeen tap has been fawned over and lauded by so many I didn’t really believe it was as awesome as they claimed. However, it is as great as advertised, make no mistake. The service is fantastic, as the bartenders are the kind of dudes who will attempt to solve lone star puzzles with you while simultaneously keeping every glass in the bar full, quite a feat considering how infuriating those things can be. The food is solid, they have Cher-vaps on the menu, which usually are only available at Chicago street festivals, so they remind me of beautiful summer days even when the fall and winter in this city get me down. In short, eat here, drink here, it’s worth it.

What makes this place so awesome? I really can’t put my finger on what«it» is, but like The Kid in the movie Magic Mike(yes I’m not ashamed to say I love that flick) Aberdeen Tap has it. It’s not a super flashy Channing Tatum-like tavern, but it seems to rain dead presidents on them all the same with some of the good old fashion features of a great American neighborhood joint. It’s just your regular old corner bar with great food, super friendly service, and some sidewalk seating for when weather permits. There’s a good sized beer list with some great local flavors as well as imports. The food menu boasts bangers(sausage sandos) and grinders(open-faced sandos) that will knock your socks off and the jukebox always seems to be playing something that’ll make you say, «Damn…this is a great song!» Overall Aberdeen gets an A+ as far as I’m concerned.
