This is such a great place and I am proud to live in a neighborhood that actually cares about it’s neighbors. I started volunteering here a few months ago and I am so glad I did. This hopping, helpful, and generous food pantry serves much of the northwest side with a lean operation built on hard work and community effort. It’s in a humble church basement, that weekly is stocked with donations from local merchants, schools, neighboring churches and business, and people from near and far who know charity starts at home. They just published a beautifully moving and touching book called«I Am Your Neighbor: Voices from a Chicago Food Pantry». If you’re looking for a great read, or a gift that speaks about Chicago’s heart, buy this book! And feel free to make a donation of time, food, or money. Happy Holidays Common Pantry!
