The Home Depot

Extraordinarily busy especially the paint department (been there morning, noon, and night weekdays), definitely understaffed, and low inventory on certain items (at least a few we were interested in). Some items are mislabeled, misplaced, or just plain missing! We found the staff generally helpful and friendly. We’ve started to go to the one on Clinton Street which is better stocked but not that much better overall.

This store has poor customer services, they do not come to assist you, most of them have an attitude.

You shop at this location and you are subject to catch a criminal case especially if you have a return. This store’s location is high ranking in terms of sales which might be the reason why nothing has been done about the service. I literally witnessed associates talk about customers, be rude to customers and provide wrong information to guest. I waited for a department associate to come to obtain a price but it took him 8 minutes to come to the front to find out the reason for the call. The associate told the cashier that the sticker for the price was attached. On a different occasion the Cashier attempted to ring the price for a higher amount and would not accept the online sku # but called for an associate which took forever. And no apology was offered. I did not receive a single greeting in this store. Best thing about this store is all of the eye candy.

I come here when I need something for the house I had not gone in a while because this particular location seemed to have been hiring hoodrats to work in their store. I just went back today after not going for a while and it looked like the store had cleaned house of employees who were not up to snuff. Which is a good thing because a lot of businesses are not going to keep people on staff if they’re not doing their job. I came in to purchase some trash bags after Wal-​Mart temporarily didn’t carry the ones I usually get because they’re rip resistant and good for packing about two weeks worth of trash and keeps me from making excessive trips to the alley take the garbage out. The store has been good about getting rid of a lot of riff raff since they would have a lot of people loitering in the parking lot and security has been good about cleaning that up and keeping the lot free of people hanging out there who are not there to shop at the store. Overall, service has been improving and with this trip it has come up more with cleaning up the store and hiring quality employees.

I absolutely hate asking for assistance and not getting it at any store. Well, expect that and more from this store. The employees have plenty of time for joking and talking among one another but no time to help the customer. The prices were honestly cheaper than the other hardware stores but I’ll take my money to the store decent enough to respond for a request for assistance.

I like home depot, I’m not sure why. This location has always been just ok to me. You have some employees that are very knowledgeable of what they are selling and other who is just there for a check and I get it. still over all I never had a bad experience here and they always seem to have what I’m looking for so I guess I cannot really complain

Gardening crew was very friendly. Sylvester was awesome. Make sure you find him if you have questions. Rare to see employees who care.

Most store employees need Training! However, Steve is the person who has the answer to any problem you may encounter! Go Steve!

We bought a fixer-​upper house, so we come here a lot. With a few exceptions, the staff has been knowledgeable and very willing to help. They have even suggested products that we didn’t know existed, that would help us in our project better than what we thought we needed.
Store is always well-​stocked and has everything you can possibly think of.

I initially had a bad experience with this Home Depot that is buried in the «filtered» reviews. I contacted the corporate office, through the Home Depot website, and filed a complaint through the BBB. In less than two weeks, the issue was rectified by the Store manager Izzy, who apologized in person, and issued me a refund for my trouble. My initial contact, Patricia Oalden, lead me step by step through the process, continually updating me, until the issue was solved. I appreciate the effort on behalf of the company, and will continue to be a patron of this home depot.

The staff here is very friendly and helpful.
Otherwise it is your standard Home Depot. (It is on the larger side).

Oh my goodness… worse experience ever! I thought maybe they had improved since many years ago… but no. Everyone there acts like they would rather be some place else, can’t answer questions because «it’s not their dept» and limited product selection. I opted for self-​check out to avoid 10 deep line… good choice until the faulty system detected «an unexpected item in bag» and I had to wait 5 mins. for an associate to clear the code. If I come here again, I deserve all the frustration that comes with it.

Awesome store, I totally avoid lowe’s to come here. I didn’t even know what I needed to rig up my portable a/​c. The customer service gent and fellow customer has me feeling nice and cool this evening.
Always get awesome service here. Garden folks are great too!

No one ever wants to help you. The staff just stands around, texting on their phones & talking while you go nuts trying to find what you’re looking for. There’s obviously not a dress code because the ladies were dressed as though they were on their way to a bar (super tight jeans & tops, poppin on gum) JUST GHETTO!!!

I am so glad that there is a Lowe’s right around the corner from Home Depot. I’m tired of running the service people down at Home Depot like they owe me money.
I really hate it when you finally catch one and they tell you it’s not their department.

Worst place on the planet… take two minutes go to Lowes

If you know what’s good stay away from this place! Often times they do not have what you need in stock, customer service is the worst I have seen in business history. Please don’t waste your time asking for assistance because they don’t know and are to stupid to know that they don’t know. They will not help you with something that you are unsure of! Therefore, avoid the frustration and go elsewhere.

I have been here a fair amount of times with mixed experiences.
Last time I went, they had ONE register open with a person, and the rest were self service. Since the one attended register was a mile long, I opted to go to the self service. As it turns out, 50 pound bags of concrete are not the easiest thing to checkout through the automated system. I eventually pushed the assistance button, she came over with her wireless doohicky, and scanned everything in my cart in.
That was OK I guess. The problem I had was the idiot security guard (in the fake cop outfit) who they hire to look at receipts on your way out. I bought 3 bags of concrete, two were of the same type and the third was a different type. On my receipt there were 2 line items for the 3 bags… one line said
to indicate two bags. Not only did he not understand this, he actually started to tell me I didn’t pay. I explained it to him, but he repeated «there aren’t 3 on there» several times. Everything I said went through one ear and out the other. After about 20 seconds or so of back and forth, I told him «you’re a f’king idiot, learn how to read a receipt before you try to embarrass customers» … I grabbed my receipt out of his hand and walked on out. (HD has no legal right to require me to stop at the door to show my receipt as it is)… How stupid can someone be, particularly when it’s their job to look at receipts? And does he really think I’d go through the trouble of stealing a $ 3.00, 50 pound bag of concrete, when there are obviously more valuable things that are much smaller? Geezeo.

As I have preferenced my other reviews of The Home Depot, I will say that I currently work for a building products company and I spend most of my time in THD at various locations throughout the city.
I spend more time in this store than any other as it is the second largest volume THD in Chicago. The staff here is pretty good and very friendly. This store is ALWAYS busy, but the staff is very helpful.
However, this store isn’t in the greatest neighborhood on the planet. I have guys trying to sell me stolen watches and whatnot almost every day in the parking lot. I don’t know if this is true, but there is a rumor at my company that there was a shooting in the parking lot last year. If this is the closest THD near you, its a good one. But if it isn’t, better safe than sorry!
