The House That Hope’s

Hello to all my fellow readers! I’d foremost like to introduce myself. My name is Diane and I actually work at Hope’s Thrift Boutique. I’ve had the privilege of knowing them since their conception. As my fellow reviewer Heidi pointed out, they did have flat rate pricing on the clothes in their commencement. Why the change, you may ask? After conversing with the owners, who happen to be very kindhearted people, I was made aware that it was a change to simply survive. As any business owner will know, there are challenging times you will be faced with the unfortunate decision to either raise prices or to terminate your business. That is exactly what occurred to them.
You see, they initiated Hope’s with the idea of Helping Out People Everywhere (H.O.P.E.). To provide good affordable clothing with dignity to everyone. While they no longer provide flat rate pricing on everything, they still try to remain true to those sentiments by pricing everything below $ 25, and having all items cost anywhere from $ 0.25 to $ 25. There are no other thrift stores that can boast having that low margin of prices. Besides that, they always have plenty of half off sales, as well as offer opportunities to obtain 50% off coupons. Next time you come around Heidi, come and have a chat with me. I’ll be more than happy to explain everything in detail, and I welcome any other customer to do the same. I stand with Hope’s because I stand for what it believes in. There’s no smoke and mirrors here, just good people trying to do better for the community.

Shame, shame, shame on you Hopes, for charging what you do in a store located in an extremely low socio-​economic neighborhood of Ford City/​Scottsdale in the inner city of Chicago! All tops used to be $ 2.00, all pants $ 4.00, all dresses $ 4.00, sports wear $ 4.00…Now each and every piece of clothing is individually priced w/​price tags. I saw used workout tops running anywhere from $ 6.00 to $ 10.00, workout pants for $ 12.00, men’s workout tops anywhere from $ 6.00 to $ 12.00, Blazers between $ 8.00 to $ 12.00…Tell me when to stop, simply appalling in that extremely blue collar neighborhood where people have big families and are barely getting by as it is. And a huge amount of these high priced clothes have stains, rips, missing buttons, are faded, pilled. Tons of Target, Forever 21, H & M, and maybe J. Crew, on a good day. It appears to be left over stuff that the owners can’t sell on Ebay and/​or at flea markets. Do yourself a favor, visit the Forever 21 or H & M at your local mall, you will get the same merchandise for a few dollars more but at least it will be brand new, and you won’t be supporting the greedy owners’ quite obvious Ebay business.
