Today was the day we made the pilgrimage. Being a lifelong northsider, I was unaware of this amazing Chicago icon till I read the reviews here on Unilocal. Yes, it is true, if you drive past on 63rd from the west to the east, it looks like he is flashing the intersection. I laughed so hard, the good kind of juvenile laugh that comes less frequently with age. So thanks Mr. Indian, you made my day.

Yes its true, if you lower your head and pull up very slowly the Indians thumb is a near perfect representation of his wiener. It may not be worth the trip, but there are some really kick ass Tacos and Mexican seafood to make the trip worth the money. So next time you want the best Birria in the world, drive a mile further down Pulaski and look at the Long Schlong Indian Dong.

Probably the most forgotten landmark in Chicago history! You know the drill: For whatever reason, you’ve ended up on the Southwest Side of Chicago, you’re driving down Pulaski road, and then you see it, the brave massive Native American man who salutes everyone driving by! Then, you shout, «OHCOOL! THEINDIANMAN!» The reason why I’m Unilocaling this dude, is because he has an extremely special place in my heart! My older sister who I love and adore is 15 years older than me, but my younger brother and I have always had a tight bond with her. When she moved out when I was about 10 and my brother was 8, she moved a few blocks away from Indian man on Karlov. My brother and I thoroughly enjoyed sleepovers by her place and whenever anyone would ask us, «Where does your sister live now?» we would excitedly reply«BYTHEINDIAN!». Now that we’ve grown, my sister has moved across the street from me in her own house and has kids of her own. They are 11 and 9 and I can never get enough of them! And now, the roles are about to switch: I’m thinking it’s time to fly the coop and get my own place, away from the comfort of my parents, however, I can’t stop thinking about how sad I’ll be knowing that I can’t just have my nephews come over for a movie night or just to goof off at any given moment! Which is why as exciting as moving out can be, I NEED to find a place that my nephews can think is «cool» and«different» from what they know. A place with the same charm and excitement that dang Indian held for my brother and I… Let the searching begin!
