Love love love!!! In this day in age when it cost an arm and a leg to go see a frickin movie this place is truly a gem. Small not fancy theater with super low price movies and a bar! Bonus! My go to spot evey time!

3 years later, I STILL love the New 400 Theaters. I went to see the Jungle Book this weekend with my husband and my friend, and tickets were $ 6 for 3D. That is amazing, like, less than half of what other theaters charge. I love supporting this local business. Yes, it sometimes gets gross during busy opening weekends, and yes, sometimes dumb people are loud during the movie, but that’s pretty standard. The snacks and drinks are priced way lower than other theaters too. If you’re looking for an inexpensive, solid movie-going experience, come here. If you’re looking to complain about everything little thing(and not even willing to voice those concerns to management), go somewhere else.

Cheap tickets which is nice. Not the best facilities but I guess it keeps the prices low. Recommend if you don’t want to venture far from the neighborhood or if you want to kill an afternoon. They’ve got a bar as well!

After a few times trying this theater I won’t return again … The popcorn was so ancient and stale that I couldn’t eat it … The screen is always so dim, dusky and dark that it ruins the movie … Freshness and brightness, bitches …(channeling Jesse …) but it’s too late for me

We found this theatre two weeks moving into Chicago and it has become our favorite movie theatre here. They have $ 4 days for students on Wednesdays and they have special offers whenever possible. Comfortable environment, lots of movie fans flock the theatre for a chill theatre setting, and definitely better pricing than a Landmark or Regal theatre downtown. We go here whenever we can.

This was my first time at this place and I can’t believe I haven’t been here before! The staff was friendly and the popcorn was so fresh and better than anything you’d get at AMC or elsewhere. The theater itself was small but cozy and wasn’t super crowded(for a Monday afternoon show). I think I’ll definitely be returning here again!

This is an awesome little theater! I go here often and the service is always wonderful. There is a full bar, with specials and tickets are always cheap. The theaters are being remodeled and the new seats are really nice. They also do fun events from time to time. My husband and I went to their event for opening night of Star Wars and it was a lot of fun, with trivia, prizes, and themed cocktails.

Is there such thing as a «dive theater»? I’d consider this one… Tiny little theaters(30 – 40 seats max), full bar, no problem with crowds or that one guy/girl in the front who seems to think their phone won’t bother anyone during the movie. As an independent theater, I gotta give them props for keeping the place running. Unfortunately, props only go so far. The two biggest distractions to my movie going experience were the fire exit signs were bright white in a dark theater. Since I was watching The Force Awakens, any scene with a dark background suddenly had a bright spot in the bottom right. I get fire code, but man, I wish you could spend just $ 40-$ 50 per theater to get those less-intrusive edge-lit signs(instead of backlit). You’d literally make up the cost in energy savings in a few months. The second was the leaky ceiling. I wouldn’t have minded if it was any place other than right in front of where the concessions guy fills the popcorn. All in all, this place is great for a cheap movie close to home, but you are better of going corporate if you want the best movie-going experience.

UPDATE: renovations are being completed and they’ve made some great changes. Seats, screens and other aesthetics. I love this little local theatre and think the surrounding neighborhoods should continue to support it.

Love this place. One of my favorite places in Rogers Park. Still go up there when I want to see a movie.

I wish I could give less than one star. But it seems that every time I come here it is patronized by rude people who talk through the whole movie. If you like having your viewing experience ruined by people talking and making disruptive noises, then go on. I would recommend attendants to monitor the theaters. This is not a single incident, this happens every time and is really disappointing. Also, the facility is dingy and unkempt, save your time and go some place else. I hope the experience can be changed, such a disappointment for the Rogers Park neighborhood.

Every time we go to the movies here there is always ALWAYS an issue with people talking through the movie and being rude as hell and of course if you call them out they will make an even bigger scene, we don’t go here often and like to support local businesses but I think this was the last straw. I feel as though the staff should be checking theaters to make sure there aren’t disturbances to deflect any patron on patron confrontation… Should have told the staff but I guess expecting good behavior and etiquette is too much to ask for

A small neighborhood theater where we love to see the latest movies. It’s not the cleanest but the staff is always friendly, the popcorn fresher than most places, and it has a small bar for the adults… They show a good balance of movies so families can see the latest family friendly movie while the adults can watch the latest thrillers… They also have special viewings throughout the year.

Love this place! I remember coming here as a kid before it was the 400. They’ve always been affordable and, given I now practically live across the street, crazy convenient. I cannot wait to see the free Halloween movies they’ll be running. Plusssss it has a bar with decent drinks and affordable concession snacks. 9⁄10.

Be sure to come to the 5th Annual Chicago Comedy Film Fest now in Rogers Park. We’re so happy to be part of the community and bringing international film up «north». Tickets here–

I am sad to say I will no longer come to this theater. I support small local businesses that are a part of this great community, but I do not think the theater is very community oriented as it used to be when managed by Thomas Klein. This manager was always welcoming and helpful with everyone. He was kind to employees and hard working. The quality, professionalism, cleanliness and overall friendly atmosphere is gone. This theater is no longer what it used to be. Such a shame.

Small theater, and peaceful area. They even sell alcohol, omg! This is like the first, and probably only theater, that I have seen that sells alcohol. If you’re in the Rogers Park/Edgewater area, and want to catch a movie, stop in!

This is a great little local theater that’s a great option for those who are looking to see the latest movies but not wanting to pay a premium. The theater seems to only show 4 or so movies at a time and the auditoriums are quite small compared to your typical AMC or Regal, but the price is $ 8.50, or $ 7.50 with a student ID. As long as you don’t come expecting a super cushy theater, you’ll have a nice and cozy experience. With a Unilocal Check-In, you even get a free drink — and that includes alcoholic beverages!

Everytime I visit the New 400 Theater I Love it more and more! I love that when I enter the staff knows me now, I love that I can get a great tasting medium bag of buttered popcorn for $ 3.75 too! And of Course, with Unilocal Check –In a free medium soft drink or well drink, and honestly my days of drinking well drinks are pretty much over so I always opt for a Diet Coke! But what I loved the most this past Thursday was I went to see St. Vincent with Melissa McCarthy and Bill Murray, and yes, I am sentimental and I started to cry during a certain scene, and 2 rows in front of me there was a woman sitting there crying at the same scene I was. After the movie ended as I went to the lobby I met the lady who was crying 2 rows ahead of me, and she turned out to be a customer I had previously met at Jewel, and we both laughed about how we were crying during the same scene. So, for myself, people who complain about sticky floors, non-reclining seats or old looking bathrooms you need to go elsewhere, because this little theater has been here for quite some time with good reason. Because it’s a neighborhood place where everybody knows your name…
