The Residences At The Joffrey Tower

Good stuff:
Best door staff I’ve ever had in any building, bar none. Super-​friendly. Leval on the maintenance team is a gem too. Can’t say enough good stuff about the team here.
Fantastic location, super-​convenient with the downstairs Walgreens, Magnolia Bakery, Intelligentsia, Starbucks, you name it. The floor-​to-​ceiling windows let in plenty of light, and the only time we use lamps is in the winter after 5pm.
Year-​round air conditioning (surprisingly hard to find in downtown condos.)
Really fast Internet through a commercial provider (not Comcast). I think it’s only gone down for maybe half a day in the last two years. I work from home, so I love bulletproof Internet.
Drawbacks:
The alley smells disgusting in the summer. Homeless and drunk folks use it as a public restroom. If you’re a dog owner, it’s not a particularly good-​smelling place to be. (Safe though.) Dogs have to use the freight elevator, so they have to go through the alley (except after 7pm). I’ve never waited for more than a minute or two for that elevator though.
The walls between units aren’t super-​thick, and in my floorplan, my master bedroom shares a wall with my neighbor’s living room. As a result, I can hear the bass line when he listens to music or watches movies late at night. No sound insulation at all in the hallways, so when my other neighbor was having fights with his wife, I could hear it in the hallway. (But not in my place, which is good, and they’re gone now anyway.)
In 2014, we had some security issues with strangers following people into the alley entrance, then trying every condo door until they found unlocked ones, and entering for some ugly surprises. That hasn’t happened since we added multiple layers of electronic locks though.
Bottom line: absolutely love this place. I just wish it had 3-​bedroom units, and I’d even be tempted to buy two adjacent units to build into a single one. This place is that good.

One of the BEST condo buildings in Downtown Chicago. Joffrey Tower has an amazing doorstaff and management team. The building has some of the best views of any high-​rise in Chicago. Floor to ceiling windows in every unit, outdoor space and a heated garage.
With all of the two bedrooms being corner units, the views really are amazing. The floorplans are all open and allow for great entertaining options. Sleek appliances, hardwood floors and a huge gym really round out the building.
If you’re looking for quality in an awesome location that won’t break the bank, Joffrey Tower is a winner!

The floor to ceiling windows are great — they let in so much light, I never have to use any kind of lamp during the day.
The staff is super nice, the doormen are helpful and polite.
I just love the quality of everything in the units. The appliances are new, steel models and the floors are hardwood.
The location is the best part — that and the views from the windows.
And unlike the other Unilocaler here, I don’t mind dogs. The only thing that bothers me is that the front two elevators take too long, but it’s a pretty simple solution: I use the back elevator instead. It’s super fast.
Great building with great amenities; I love it here.

The security staff is lovely (and does much more than their job entails — gosh I have seen some rude people interact with our security). I am always so happy to return home and greeted with a professional smile and welcome!
It’s unfortunate that the by laws allow for so many renters to own dogs. Gosh Why do people own dogs in a high-​rise, I will never know — never (I mean I know why lonely people need pets but…)
I love our gym — and our unassuming entrance. And of course access to the loop.

I wish I could say things were as nice as in 2012 but I just moved in and customer service deserves only one star here. Cannot wait to move out of this building!

This is my home, and I have lived here for ³¹⁄₂ years. We are owners. We love living here, though I wish the building had more amenities, we could not have been more satisfied generally. The staff is terrific, and all the «issues» have been taken care of. The units are not cookie-​cutter, and you can not beat the location. We hardly ever use our car. So many things within walking distance, it is ridiculous. The new Walgreens on the corner is spoiling me, and the new Target two blocks away is fabulous. The price of the units are so reasonable. Both heat and air conditioning are included. All you pay is electric and phone. This makes budgeting a breeze. Would not be happy living anywhere else. Like I said before, I’m spoiled by this great building!

Amazing place to live, but would not recommending buying a condo here, due to all the building issues. Front door staff is amazing, a nice work out facility, super nice group room that you can rent out, but there have been several issues with the doors, windows, façade etc. Technically I believe we are still banned from being out on our patio, by a court order, due to a piece of the building falling off and hitting someone. The windows have also not been cleanned in a couple of years due to safety concerns. Renting is awesome, wouldn’t recommend buying.
