If it wasn’t how well she did my daughters hair I would give Dana Moten a negative ZERO. She convinced me she has done Crotchet Braids before so for me not having had this done before trusted that she knew what she was doing based upon her 100% guarantee that she totes around. Well to make a very long story short. I was getting married and wanted a style that I could wear in the for several weeks that would also hold up in the Caribbean which is where I went for my honeymoon. We corresponded several times about expectations and what she could do with me and my daughters hair. My experience… well she started on my hair(with washing) about 1:45p and I was still not done by 8:30pm that night. You see the issue here. I had to find someone to pick my daughter up because from what I’ve heard and googled online, crochet braids don’t take no 7 hrs!!! And even then after being under the dryer about 20 – 30 minutes(at that time it was 8:30) and the bantu knots still weren’t dry and yes I had to leave. I figured I had to be right back there at 8am for my daughter so my hair could air dry overnight. Well unfortunately for me when I cam back in the am and after she did my daughters hair(which I admit she did an awesome job in an appropriate amount of time) she proceeded to take the bantu knots out and guess what… they were still wet. So what did this mean for me at 11am and I was scheduled to get married at 5pm?! She had to cut the hair out AND do some ridiculous twists that I didn’t pay $ 200 for. I obviously was not a happy camper but I never disrespected or got loud with her. I held it in and just told her that«twists» was not what I wanted. She promised to refund my money(which I paid before I left the previous night) and guess what her unprofessional self never refunded my money. I gave her 2 opportunities to refund. The 1st was when I can came back from my honeymoon(a week later) I called her and asked her about it when I didn’t see it in my checking account and she said she would talk to the owner and get it taken care of. I waited another 1 ½ weeks and emailed inquiring about it and she said that I would have it by the end of that week. Well I NEVERGOTIT. I ended up having to file a claim with my bank citing everything that happened. There’s no way in hell I’m walking away from $ 200 when she didn’t do the style that the $ 200 was for. Bottom line, as a professional which is what she claims to be if you make a mistake fine. The least you can do is try to make things right. Had she refunded my money back in the appropriate manner I still would have taken my daughter to her because obviously she can do that with no problem. Crotchet Braids is just not it cause it shouldn’t take all day to do them. Plus there was something up with the hair she used because it just wouldn’t get dry. Bottom line if you need locs or twists based upon her photos and how she did my daughter’s hair you’ll «probably» be ok. Anything else go at your own RISK!
