This is my go to place for amazing service and always GREAT eats!!! The chips and onion dip is so good. Like up scale picnic food. Their soups are so reasonably priced and very tasty, Wednesday nights chicken tortilla is a fave! I would put their burger in a competition it is so good!!! And the manager Andrew treats all his customers like family! The wait staff is great and as for the bar staff, I have never had a cocktail short of divine. Thanks guys!!! Keep up the awesome work!

So… Andrew the some sort or manager just said to me… After I ordered tartar sauce for my fried clams… «Ok. If you want the dumded down American version… Ok…» Totally rude… . Otherwise Fran at the Hampton Inn was Amazingly wonderful… He made a comment able difference for our stay!!! Fran=Amazing. Andrew at the Windsor= no me gustsa! Additionally, there is nothing that The Windsor could say to modify my review… He was a serious A!

The Wrightwood salad is tremendous and was a great recommendation from Julia… who did a spectacular job serving me. This is a pretty cool place which appears to be a landmark in the area. I am working on the wifi and will probably still here… or come back for happy hour.

This place is great but unfortunately, it’s so tucked away among cafes and the hospital, that not many people know about it. Good thing I stumbled upon it on OpenTable giving 1,000 points! The vibe is pretty neat and I went for brunch and lunch where both times I got the crab benedict which was English muffin with crab on top, with a poached egg on top and some sauce that was delicious. They have a cookie skillet(which we call Pizookies in California) with ice cream on top that just hit the spot. Unfortunately, the second time I came, the other folks in the group did not order dishes that were as satisfying as mine. The pancakes had fruit inside them and the server did not inform us and nor did the menu say so. Also, the menu said there was a side of potatoes but they were, in fact, hash browns with cheese and one of my friends doesn’t eat cheese. So needless to say, there were a couple of issues, but nothing that can’t be solved with a revamping of the menu and re-training of the servers!

We got breakfast here. To start, they were out of orange juice. Pancakes were super greasy, very heavy… not light and fluffy like they should be. Sausage and bacon were over cooked. Server didn’t ask how was everything after we finished. Eggs and hash browns were extra greasy as well, not sure why the cook uses an abnormally high amount of grease and butter. Third pancake was very overcooked out of the three we received for $ 12.00. Expensive and small pancakes.

Nice bar for lunchtime light bites, esp handy after doctor appointments at Northwestern. In addition to all the comments re: the food, the bar has outlets and hooks all around — awesome!

Great place. Great service. We spent the the afternoon at the place with our kids. The menu is good and everything that was served had special flavour — even the simplest burger. Recommended.

I attended a networking event at the Windsor with a group called Over 40 Females. Not only did they do a spectacular job hosting our event, the menu items I tried were wonderful. The crispy fried clams were just what you want when you order this dish — chewy and flavorful, but not too clammy. And the 2 sauces they served with them? O.M.G. Delicious!!! The Wrightwood salad was great too. Although I will say the cornbread croutons had gone a bit moldy. :-(

I love the Windsor. This is definitely one of those places that may not be as popular, but it is so suave enough to have an awesome time in. The hubbster and I loved this place so much, we stopped here twice on our Chicago visit. The atmosphere is chill but happening with locals hanging out, having a drink, and making great conversation all around. The place has good music and happy vibes.(Thank you to whoever mastered the electro and 80’s music playlist! Good job!). The staff here are super friendly, and the dining area is clean and wonderfully decorated. The ambiance itself gives it a mellow jazzy welcome. The hubbster and I felt so comfortable once we got here and had a great array of cocktails, and delicious comfort foods. On our last day of our trip, we came back to the Windsor for a good bye lunch before heading out to the airport. The food is outstanding! From the chopped salad, to the slow roasted pork, and to my absolute fave of the spaetzle mac and cheese. WOW! The hubbster and I had an incredible dining experience and a great vacation date night. Food was worth it. All delicious. every single bite. A++ for making my foodie dreams reality! Perks: Awesome menu! From cocktails to entrees, everything sounds good. Small plates and desserts are on the menu too. Also breakfast dishes for the morning hours, and Bar snacks for the happy time after work hours! :-) Awesome TIP: Cocktail to check out? Try the Smoke and Mirrors… So so nice. OverALL: LOVE. LOVE. Love. I have already told my So. Calif friends about this place if they ever venture on to Huron St in Chicago. We hope to return to Chicago again soon, and this will be our stop again for sure!

The Windsor is pretty cool for a hotel bar and stays open relatively late, but I was kind of underwhelmed by all the cocktails that I’ve tried from their menu. I met a few friends here for random drinks on a weeknight and even though the place was pretty empty, service was slower than ideal. Unless there were specials that we weren’t aware of, I think there are better options in the area.

Decent food, good beer. Fish and chips — fish was nicely seasoned but came out dry. No vibe on a Sunday evening 6−7pm. Nice interior though. Few locals but mostly hotel guests. Overall service and food felt a bit indifferent as if everyone was going through the motions. Better food and much, much better vibe a few blocks away at D4 Pub.

My husband and I came here for brunch before a play at the Lookingglass Theatre. We had made reservations for 11:30 and got there a bit early which was no problem. We got a great table in the front part of the restaurant by the fireplace. The coffee is dark and hot, just like I adore. The OJ was also very nice. I enjoyed my breakfast quite a bit except for the hollandaise sauce which I had to scrape off. There was either red pepper or a very spicy paprika on top of the sauce which really changed the velvety wonder that is normally Hollandaise sauce. The waiter gave us plenty of time and space and since our food had arrived quickly, we split the French toast as a dessert and to use up more time before the play. Great decision! Brunch with dessert, life is good.

On a Saturday night at 9PM, this place was dead. We stopped by for some drinks and the ambiance felt odd for a premium spot. The lights were fully on as if they were closing any moment(they are supposedly open until 11PM). Service was just okay. And the cocktails were nothing to write home about.

Wow. Just absolute wow. This place is probably one of the most underrated eating spots in Chicago. This is a must try to anyone visiting! Especially if you’re staying in the Hampton next door. We would come over to the Windsor around 8:30 at night after a long day of walking to just wind down. The first night we got to Chicago, we came to grab a quick bite to eat. My sister got a burger with fries. We fell in LOVE with with the fries. We then proceeded to order 2 separate plates of fries. My father tried the chicken tortilla soup and said it was the best he had ever had. Since we fell in love with the fries and cool, classy ambience, we came back. We ordered 4 more plates of french fries. We just could not get enough!

It’s Lent and the fish fry is amazing here. So light and crispy, not greasy and really generous portion. I had it on Saturday and I’m still thinking about it. My daughter always gets the spaetzel mac and cheese and my son loves the chips and guac and cheese burgers here. Food always comes out super quick. Also, I think their bar snacks are the best deal in town, especially the chips and french onion dip.

I grabbed a bite to eat early afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised that it was not too busy on a weekend afternoon, after the two previous places I tried were packed. Sat at the bar and had an appetizer and entrée. Both were good. The Monkey bread is essentially a cinnamon bun. It has a sweet sticky glaze as you would expect but also some components that are baked/toasted to add a little crunch. It’s generous size and probably more fitting for 4 people to share. For the entrée I had the Crab Benedict. It was decent. Some for the side, I got the potatoes. The potatoes were the surprising part of the dish. It was hash browns with both a savory fluffy part and a crispy outer crust. Overall good dining experience. Excellent bet for the weekend if you’re looking to avoid crowds.

Friendly service? You betcha! Good food? Yep. Nice ambiance? Yes sir. So much nicer than the old Elephant and Castle that once graced these walls. Stopped in for lunch the other day to check out the latest creation from the Four Star Restaurant Group(they also recently opened Remingtons which is also high on my list!) We were seated in the dining area next to the fireplace(a nice touch on this cold day) which is warm with earth tones, leather and small seating areas. Our server, Braxton, was great! Full of suggestions as to what we might like and quick with drink refills. He was just the kind of server you would like to have sit down and have a drink with you(it was slow so he probably could have!, ha!) as we talked about not only the food but shared some personal stories. As for the food, I had the Wrightwood salad based on his recommendation and it was very tasty with rotisserie chicken, avocado and goat cheese and my friend had the beet salad. Know before you go that the beet salad is sized more like a side salad than an entrée salad. The menu also has burgers, entrees like pork, mussels and steak, as well as they serve brunch which probably appeals to the hotel patrons of the adjacent Hampton Inn. And while I was trying to watch what I ate on this day, there is a Nutella brownie with salted caramel sauce that was calling to me on the menu.(still is and it’s been a couple of weeks!) There are a couple of large rooms in the back as well so this could also be a great place for your holiday party as it was all decorated when I was there and felt very festive! If you drive– parking is always a bit of a challenge in this area. If you park across the street at the hospital it is going to set you back a pretty penny($ 40 for a couple of hours) so my suggestion is to park a couple of blocks away or ask if they validate(I forgot to and got hit with a parking tab bigger than my lunch bill!) All in all, a nice addition to the neighborhood as there is little like it in the area.

Overall: We came here for brunch and received some of the slowest service I’ve had with food that’s too rich and buttery. Food: My table shared the monkey bread and mac and cheese. I ordered the chicken hash. The Monkey Bread was coated with caramelized sugar and cream. I ate two and felt nauseous. The mac and cheese was runny and watery without much flavor. The chicken hash was dominated by celery flavor. — Long story short, we sat at this restaurant for about 3 hours with no service. The waiter was friendly but kept us seated there for such a long time that we started getting sleepy. Oh, and the food that we ordered was not good. As in bad.

And the award goes to… Most pleasant surprise: scallops entrée comes with not 2, not 3, but 4 scallops! Whoopee! And they’re done perfectly and pair scrumptiously with that corn and mushroom combo. Here’s one night I didn’t miss red meat! Top small plate: though we debated for 10 minutes about whether to get 2, 3, or whattheheckoneofeach of the appetizers, we landed on 3(the spaetzle mac ‘n cheese, guac, and Korean short rib). The clear tastiest of the bunch was the mac ‘n cheese with bacon; the other 2 were a little underwhelming, with the tortilla chips bordering on stale, the guac lacking in creaminess, and the short ribs with the heaping pile of coleslaw served next to it forgettable. Best aroma: the. mouthwatering. smell. of. that. skillet. cookie!(My nose had mistook the aroma of that for the nutella brownie, which we ordered for dessert, and which was 100% ooey-gooey-chewy-chocolately goodness with vanilla ice cream.) Biggest opportunity: refill our water cups! By the end of our 1 hour and 40 minute meal, over half the table had completely empty glasses of water. They’d never been refilled. Seems like a rookie miss. Business savvy moment: show the hotel valet next door the business card here, and you’ll get a discount(thank you!). Instead of paying a whopping $ 27 for less than 2 hours of parking, you’ll pay a debatably preposterous amount of $ 20.
