Ok, I will start out by saying the only reason I am giving stars is due to the great service I had from the cool blonde waitress, she did her job flawlessly. Now to the real review… this place is way over rated. There are alot of people crammed into this place, like just about pushing the fire code numbers and then some. Extremely loud. Small restrooms for the amount of people, men’s and womens. I ordered the chicken wings, spinach and artichoke dip and a Blue Moon. The Beer was supposed be a special at $ 5? Really? Specials are like $ 3 or maybe $ 4. The Spinach and artichoke dip was pretty bland, probably the most bland I’ve tasted anywhere. The wings were an okay size, but the flavor on the garlic ginger was absent. There was none, zero, zilch, nada, ran away to the beyond section at BBB. They claim they are award winning wings. Did they decide to award themselves for the wings? Who would even pass these through the gates at a food tasting? Disappointing, very disappointing.

I think I always stop into Timothy O’Toole’s when I’m visiting Michigan Ave. It is a fun spot to grab a drink and relax. I think it’s really neat that it is underground, it adds to the ambience of the place(cozy but big sports bar in a big city). There are many tv’s showing various sporting events, and this place gets crowded if a home team is playing. They have a very large beer menu and so many beers and ciders on tap. We made a brief stop in here during our last Chicago trip and it was packed! It was a Wednesday evening around 9:30pm and it seemed like a Friday or Saturday night! But everyone, from the servers to the patrons, are very friendly. The space itself is quite large, larger than you would imagine. And it is always very clean — no sticky bar or floor(yay!!!) and the women’s restroom has always been clean. I love a clean establishment! I really want to try the food here, so I will certainly be coming back. Hopefully sooner rather than later :)

Came here on a Thursday night with a party of 5. The pub is underground so you have to go down a steep pile of stairs — keep that in mind. I had a margarita and shared the ‘banh mi’ which came with tots. The drink was good although the sandwich was a bit lacking– not a vietnamese sandwich in any sense. It was more of a panini with some shredded pork and sauce. The tots were crispy and fluffy. Another person at our table got the tacos which looked 100% more satisfying than our poor sandwich. Service was a bit slow as we had to wait a while to get someone’s attention for our checks. In sum, definitely stick to drinks and be prepared to wait. Otherwise, a decent spot to grab drinks with friends.

We were looking for a late night drink within walking distance from our hotel and we found it. This place was great! A huge selection of beers, Irish, domestic and craft. And although we only had beers the food looked amazing. I wished I had found this place earlier in our vist. Next trip to the windy city I’ll be headed back here.

Loved this place. It’s underground, but cool and lively inside. Great welcoming staff and fast service. On Sunday’s there is a Bloody Mary and Mimosa bar. We had wings and a Reuben, both were excellent. Huge selection of beer — I had Travelers Grapefruit Shandy, which was great with the spicy wings. Lots of televisions with sports on, but not too loud. Would definitely recommend. Fun atmosphere.

One of the best bars in the area! The go to place after working a long day at the job. The burgers are splendid and the beer list is pretty good too!

Came to Timothy O’Tooles to watch the Blues Sharks playoff game because they advertise their TV’s, what they don’t say is they won’t turn on the sound. I order skirt steak and a side salad with salad coming out first. They both show up together and the steak is rare not medium. The take it back and bring it out rare again. The third time the steak finally came out medium rare. I would come back here to drink but not eat

A colleague and I stumbled upon this pub while wandering near our hotel for a place to eat dinner. Upon entering and descending down the stairs, we were warmly welcomed and encouraged to walk through the restaurant to get a feel for the place, even if we ended up not staying. We took him up on the offer and checked it out. The pub is underground(as you might have guessed by the entry stairs) and is way more spacious than you’d think. As we rounded the corner past the hostess, we were surprised to find pool tables and, along the back behind the bar, some arcade video games. Sports memorabilia lined the back walls, and flat-screen TVs with various sports channels lined the front walls. The place was busy, but not unmanageably so, with a nice neighborhood vibe, so we chose to eat here. The food itself was awesome with very generous portions! The tater tot poutine caught our eyes immediately, and I think we would have been okay just eating that — the serving size was more of an entrée size than an appetizer! I was surprised there wasn’t any gravy on this poutine dish, but we figured the BBQ sauce was meant to take the gravy’s place. I had the Little Timmy meal, which comes with a burger and cheese-covered fries. It was so good — the meat was tender and the fries were crispy — but I couldn’t finish it. My colleague had the meatloaf, which he also couldn’t finish. I didn’t try his meal, but he said the meatloaf was«up there.» Long story short: delicious food, friendly service and generous portions. I’d definitely come back here whenever I’m back in town!

Stopped by Timothy O’Toole’s for a beer since it was convenient to the hotel. The bar was huge which made it easy to grab a seat at the bar. Boyfriend and I were promptly greeted, the bartender made a great beer recommendation and we both got beers. I was going to order a second beer but the service took FOREVER so we opted to get the check instead. I mean this is a decent spot if you are looking for grab a drink but would not be my first choice.

Cool environment. Love the wrap around bar. The drinks are made well and they have daily specials. The food is generic. Had the«famous» chicken wings, half buffalo and half garlic. They were dry and frail. I only suggestthis place to hang out and drink

If you’re looking for a no frills sports bar that won’t hurt your wallet, this is the place. It’s always crowded and the grill is open late. The menu is decent for a bar. They have a few pool tables. It’s in a basement and is pretty loud. Service is fine. It’s best for locals.

Sports bar. Good bar food. It’s pretty impressive size for being downtown Chicago — everyone had room even though there were a lot of people. Drinks were decently strong and did not seem to attract the typical downtown crowd(in a good way).

This is a great downtown pub. Open late with the kitchen open. That’s a plus. Extensive bottled beer list and a decent selection on tap. We started with the Warn pretzel trio and opted for triple beer cheese because we aren’t mustard people. There were so many pretzels in the plate. They didn’t skimp. I got another app for dinner, the Baked Goat Cheese. Delicious! If you are downtown and looking for a place to plant yourself and eat and drink for the night, check them out.

Great Irish bar! Decent prices for being in the city, nice bartenders, great selection of draught beers. The interior has lots of fun decorations. The crowd was mixed with a little bit of everyone. It wasn’t super packed on the Saturday night that I went, so I’m happy about that!

Nachos, both«Irish» and traditional were very good. Impressive beer list, great atmosphere, will definitely go there again. So much food, so little stomach space — there’s other menu items I want to try.

Have to say we were treated like crap there last night by a short haired lady who seen to be a manager. She was super rude to us when we sat in the wrong seat. Even thought the lady at the table said we could She told us we did two things wrong one was walking past the girl who was to seat us even thought that girl looked at us as we walked past and the other was because that table was reserved. And we should have known that by the stupid black party cheap looking thing in the table She seemed to have a snotty attitude towards her workers too! Irish bar my foot!!! We were the only Irish there and to be treated that way was a disgrace !!! Lighten up lady if your not happy in your job get a new one!

Timothy O’Tooles was our dinner stop while we were bar hopping on a Saturday. It was 6 of us and the hostess said she had a table for us but we would have to leave in an hour for another party. We agreed. They had 3Floyds Gumballhead on tap which is my favorite beer and it was reasonably priced at $ 6.50. I ordered the grilled fish tacos for dinner and they some of the best I’ve had. Two tacos each with a whole large piece of fish on it. When the waitress brought the check, she said she was unable to split the bill more than 3 ways but we were able to work it out anyway. Overall a good experience for a quick beer and dinner.

You’ll always find fun and people at Tim O’Toole’s, regardless of the day of the week. I like Wednesdays when Comedians You Should Know takes up shop at 9pm in a back room/bar that seats about 45. It’s a series of 4 or 5 aspiring stand-up comedians plying their trade and coupled with drinks specials like $ 5 Absolut mixed drinks. Other nights have karaōke or god knows what. The main bar/dining area of TOTs is a pretty big subterranean space with a large central bar with a TON of beer taps. You won’t go wanting for a good beer option here. They are a little pricey though, like $ 7 for a pint of Sam Adams. Their typical bar food options like mozzarella sticks, buffalo wings and the like are really good. Service is typically attentive, friendly and female. All good!

What a fun place! I also liked the fact they have a big bad bouncer door guy so people don’t get stupid. Yes it’s that kind of place but sometimes u need a neighborhood bar that serves a strong jameson and a decent pour of Guinness to break up the 5 star restaurant scene. Nice varied menu and decent food as well. Reasonably priced and if ur staying at the hotel’s nearby the concierge have discounts as well.

All in all I wasn’t that impressed. We stopped by after dinner for a quick drink. I like my drink to actually taste like it has a drink inside it. The drinks are very very expensive and not poured evenly. I ordered a captain and diet and it tasted like lime. It was strange that there was so much security. There was a security guard checking IDs which is pretty normal but then there was also security standing around which made me wonder if they have problems on other nights.

I used to go here back in my law school days in the 90s. It looks less divey now but is otherwise much the same — the reason to go here is mainly to drink. Service is good. There is a large/varied beer selection. I had a tilapia sandwich that was good. The goat cheese and marinara sauce appetizer was so massive that I wasn’t able to eat the sandwich until the next day. The appetizer size was excessive for 2 people but is probably intended for a group to order while drinking. The app itself was good but obviously consisted of ingredients taken directly from the back of a Sysco truck, thrown together and defrosted in a microwave. My wife ordered a chicken pita and said it was the worst sandwich she ever had. It was dry and flavorless. But the bread pudding was excellent.

This was the first sports bar we stopped by when arriving in Chicago. I just wanted good bar food and of course great beer. We ordered the spinach artichoke which was creamy and good and we ordered the pretzels with beer cheese dipping sauce. The pretzels were huge and very soft. It’s turning into my favorite bar snack. This place had a great beer list too. A lot of beers I can’t get here on the east coast were on tap so I had a few which were great. The bar itself was awesome. A lot of tv’s and definitely a great spot to watch Chicago sports.

The signs on the windows boast of 48 beers on tap and 70+ HDTV’s. They weren’t kidding about the TV’s because there was pretty much one at each table along the walls. There were tons of great choices on the menu, some taking a more creative take on bar food like the Rueben egg roll and pulled pork nachos. 1 pt of All Day IPA $ 5.50 — One of my go to IPA’s. Goat Cheese Quesadilla $ 10 — Yum! Side of Truffle Fries $ 4 — Good truffle oil flavor on these delicious fries. Reuben egg roll $ 9 — These were filled with corn beef, sauerkraut, swiss cheese and a side of thousand island sauce. It was good, but not as tasty as I had hoped it to be. Bayou Mac and Cheese $ 13 — This pasta dish comes with shredded chicken, peas, andouille sausages, mushrooms and awesome buttery garlic bread. My favorite dish of the night. Nachos $ 10 — Very large serving of tortilla chips topped with chili, tomato, scallions, jalapenos, and real cheese. I’m prefer the fake melty cheese on my nachos. Chips were ok, but got super soggy fast. I tried a bite of my friend’s fish and chips, and it was pretty good. Overall good food, service and atmosphere.

Came here for dinner while on a business trip to Chicago. I found this to be an excellent pub, with just the right ambience and good drinks and food to go along. When you enter you go down a flight of stairs, so the bar is slightly subterranean. It’s a large area and slightly dark, just like a good pub should be. There’s a large oval shaped bar, with seats going all around. I was able to find a seat at the bar when I visited. There are ample screens behind the bar playing a variety of sports events, so it’s easy to watch games from anywhere you sit. There are lots of tables around eye bar for groups to sit at. When I went, the bar was extremely lively, with an animated crowd that made it feel like a fun place to be. They have a large number of craft beers on tap and advertise 48 beers on a sign outside. I ordered a Bell’s Two Hearted Ale, one of my favorites The menu looked like pretty standard pub dare, and I got a Californian burger, which came with avocado, sprouts, and jack cheese, and was quite good. The die of cole slaw I had with it tasted pretty generic. All in all, I found this bar to be real fun to hang out at and would come here again if I visit Chicago again.

Came in here late on evening on a Wednesday evening for something to eat during a work trip to Chicago. It was after midnight and the brainiacs in management up the street at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers think it’s good business to close all food service down at a particular time — even when the hotel bar is packed to overflowing with business. So one must go elsewhere for food and drink. The lady manning the front desk at the Sheraton recommended I try Timothy O’Toole’s. So I walked down from my hotel — about five blocks. The place was hopping late — actually it was past midnight so technically it was Thursday morning. I grabbed a spot at the bar and ordered a plate of Nachos and a pint of the Goose Island IPA. While I was waiting, I scanned the bar, noting the goings on. It’s an interesting mix of things — it feels like it is trying to be multiple things: An Irish Pub, A Sports Bar, a Dive Bar… It also felt like a bit of a meat market — which made for some entertaining people watching. There are flat panel HDTV’s all over the place, and some pool tables. Nachos were huge — way to much food for me to eat the whole plate! The Goose Island IPA is a rather ordinary IPA on my scale of IPA ratings, but it is a local Chicago area craft beer, so felt like I should order one! I’d come here again! Would have been
