TRACES by Seven Fingers

I know this page is for TRACES, which I didn’t see, but I just wanted to say that Seven Fingers (Les 7 doigts de la main) is amazing. Saw their show «La Vie» in Montréal and it was amazing. Dark humor with amazing performance art. I hope this show comes to Chicago! I recommend 7 fingers (or Cirque Eloize), especially if you’re tired of the usual Cirque du Soleil show (see my Ovo review)

If you’ve seen Cirque du Soleil in LV and Broadway plays in NY, you will be disappointed with this show. Does not compare.
Maybe I just didn’t understand this show, but I didn’t like how the whole show didn’t really have a centralized plot or a theme. It was very random. Each person would display a talent and then perform it. There were random moments where they would crack jokes and then go back to being serious.
I like the Chinese yo yo part and the work they did on the poles, but I’ve honestly never seen so many mistakes. During each segment, there was at least one mistake. One person would knock over the hoop, another would drop the ball or yo-​yo, etc. I actually felt sorry for the performers because I’m sure they were better than that.
I think the part when I laughed the most didn’t even have to do with the show. They have a camera set up in the lobby and the audience inside the auditorium can see what those people outside are doing so you can imagine all the silliness they show on camera. We all applauded those people when they walked into the theater. haha

90 minutes with no intermission… or no blinking, deep breathing, or thought of leaving your seat. Trumps larger productions with amazing sets, direction, and acrobatics-​a word that I am not sure even does it justice.

What an amazing performance. I won’t go into too many details, but I am in awe of these seven performers. They are so incredibly talented. I loved it so much I might go see it again!
TRACES will keep you on your toes for 90 minutes. You will not want to blink for a second in case you miss something. They do a great job of combining crazy talent, humor and dancing!
The show really blew me away. If you are able to catch a performance, I highly recommend it! Bravo!
One more thing… Everyone is really good looking. Hello Florian.

Out of respect for the performers and producers of TRACES I am not going to reveal much at all in my review. Performing arts are meant to be seen, not read about! I was fortunate enough to see a dress rehersal of TRACES and I would definately go to see it again when it opens on October 26^th. I left the show feeling inspired, impressed, and excited. My friend also enjoyed TRACES and my hat goes off to the performers, the crew, and the directors/​producers for what must have been an immense amount of work and practice to put the show together. Welcome to Chicago, Les 7 doigts de la main! I hope TRACES is the first of many acts we’ll get to see.
