Tyron’s Barber Shop

I know what you’re thinking: «Hey Mike, you don’t even have any hair! You shave your own head, so the last time you were actually in a barber’s shop was when exactly?» True story… I’m bald, deal with it. But it looks good, doesn’t it? Nice shaved head to match those amazing eyebrows… they really are amazing, but enough about me. Let me tell you why this place is pretty f’n cool.
Going to school in Wisconsin for a black kid from Chicago is a culture shock, esepcially when it comes to looking so fresh and so clean for all the fine ladies at your institution of education. You can’t just go to the nearest barber in Fond du lac and ask him to «fade you up». In fact even many of my teammates who weren’t «black like me», they also were in need of a decent haircut instead of the bowl on the head treatment you’d get in WI. So we’d pile in the car and make the 2 hour trip… all for a haircut. And this tradition still holds true today for many college kids who have to come home and get a real haircut. Ty’s is that place that makes it all better. It’s nothing fancy. No fancy chairs, or stylist, no flat screens. No Ice Cube isnt there, but expect to be treated professionally, as you’ll hear the latest banter on numerous topics, including why Nas sucks, why Joe Biden is better than Hilary, why John mayer is a «brother», Chappelle vs. Rock, and why the Isley Brothers are almost as good as the Stones. Its your typical upstart babrber shop with cheap prices, good people, and the occassional nails lady who’ll take care of your girl… by appointment only, of course.
It’s been a while since i’ve actually been a customer there, so why am i giving them such a good review? Because its still the same good staff, the same prices, AND in a neighborhood home to many under-​privledged lower class families, and they offerred free hair-​cuts to kids for the 1^st day of school. That my friend, is cool!
