Did the Northeastern Illinois University graduation here. Basically it was nice. Seats leave a lot to be desired. No cup holders or space for your knees. Staff was a bit gruff, but they have their jobs too.

Honestly — I was quite skeptical of this place before attending a concert here but in the end I realized it was a rather great venue. I saw Sam Smith and had GA tickets. They didn’t overly sell out the floor so we were able to move a bit and not feel like we were stepping all over people, which is nice at a concert venue. As for acoustics: either Sam has a perfect voice of the acoustics here were really good. Honestly it could be both. It was a bit smaller than other music venues I’ve been to but it worked perfectly for Sam Smith.

It’s a stadium alright. Well-designed for what it is. But not a lot of magic.

My first experience at the UIC Pavillion was for Friday Night Fight this past weekend. We won the tickets at a TV taping this week, so that may or may not affect my rating since it was free. Our seats were in the 114 section and we were really close to the action. The only downside was that the ESPN camera man was standing in the corner of the ring, so there were several times we weren’t able to see the fight and ended up watching it on the screen on the wall. The venue itself was really clean and looked well maintained. It reminded me of a much smaller United Center. The staff were hurried and weren’t overly friendly, which was kinda funny to me too since they were only at about 30−40% capacity of the venue. Snacks and drinks were about what I expected to pay at a sporting event. Mixed drinks were $ 10, a coffee was $ 5, pizza was $ 5 or 6. I ended up only getting a stuffed cheese pretzel for $ 5 and it was fine. Other tips: –Parking for boxing events is $ 15. You can check their website for specific parking price as it varies by type of event. –Doors opened exactly one hour pre-event –Their sign says«no outside snacks or drinks» however, they didn’t check bags. Bring them at your own risk(but you may be forced to go back to the car or throw them out.) –Women’s bathroom was really clean –If you get here too early and need to kill time, there’s a bench across the street where you can sit down and eat or there’s a Target 0.2 miles away. I would come back to another event here because it really is smaller than some other stadiums and also because parking was simple.

Back when I was in high school and a little bit after, this was the place the high school Public League Championship(final 4) took place. It has since been moved to the United Center in the early 2000s. I have watched numerous basketball games in this establishment and all have been good. I was lucky enough to be offered a ticket last Friday for Friday Night Fights featuring Mike Tyson as a promoter. I actually got to see Mike very close as I was in the third row. I also got to meet former World Champ Oliver McCall & former Bears player Jerry Azumah… def made for a good time. Beer in this joint was higher than Wrigley prices which is crazy… a flask may have to come into play next time.lol. Staff here was really nice and personable. Decent venue for high school, college & miscellaneous sporting events

Not enough bathrooms, exits, or snack bars. It was also pretty cold thought the show. I get needing to keep it cool with large crowds, but that was ridiculous. Any staff I interacted with were friendly.

Loved watching Macklemore & Ryan Lewis here! :) there is parking on streets and easy to get into the stadium.

I finally had the chance to check out this venue! I had heard of it, but never been before. Me and a good friend went to see the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis show 11−4−13. I was a little curious as to whether or not this place was serving alcohol. I hate going to dry venues. This one is located at the University of Illinois Chicago campus, and the last college show I attended was dry!!! I was so happy my big ass could have done a back flip when I realized they were serving beer! The seating reminded me of the Allstate arena just a little smaller inside. The seats weren’t too bad actually. I didn’t feel cramped sitting next to other people. The beer was expensive! $ 9 for a can that they pour into a cup! But it’s Chicago so expect to pay an arm and a leg, plus 7 years indentured service. I think the UIC pavillion really needs to invest some money into getting a better sound system because at times I couldn’t understand certain parts of the songs. When the music stopped and the musicians talked it was clear. The music kind of drowned out the artist at points. All in all I had a great time. I would go back! Until next time…

I went to this venue to see Macklemore and Ryan Lewis with Talib Kweli on November 4th. I went with my boyfriend and we sat in the first row of seats outside of the general admission area. Parking here wasn’t bad. There’s a parking structure right next to the venue. The cost is average compared to other venues. The bathrooms are pretty gross. They were staffed with one cleaning person per bathroom for the duration of concert, but the cleaning person was just standing around with a broom the entire time. The view of the stage was good and the sound was decent. The seats were a little small considering the age of the venue. Typically seats of that size are only found in much older venues. Being anywhere near the general admission was a poor choice. People were throwing up on the floor in the general admission area. Security would watch people do this and not even say anything about it. I had asked if someone could be contacted to clean up the vomit the first time it happened because it was only a few feet away from us. The security guard said no one will clean anything until after the show, but that the vomit should be gone soon enough just from people stepping in it.(Sadly he was right. One of the people who stepped in it though was a security who had watched her do it, so that made me feel somewhat better.) He also said it could be worse because closer to the stage in general admission people frequently urinate on the floor. The group of people next to us at the show were over served before Macklemore even took the stage. One girl was spilling part of every beer she had. This included spilling beer on me multiple times. At one point she fell down multiple times trying to go down the stairs to her seat. She spilled her entire beer during this time and nothing was done about her behavior or drinking at the show.

This venue is so small and the sound quality is not good. We went here for a Guster concert and although they are an amazing band, the sound at the venue sucked. They also had everyone line up in one line to get into the venue. It was ridiculous and irritating.

This is now my 2nd time to catch a show at the UIC pavilion and had a pretty great experience each time. I was able to get pretty decent seats for each show, so I can’t complain about that. The sound was also pretty great for an arena. I’ve been to some arena shows that sounded plain awful, but these were both pretty great. I usually tend to avoid arena concerts, but I would definitely return here to see more.

Saw Sigur Ros here. The sound system was good, but the management is awful. When we got there people were in our seats, so we asked an usher about it and they said, «Yeah, usually people just sit in wherever there is a seat,» and left us to fend for ourselves. This upset my girlfriend and I and ruined the first 15 minutes of the show or so. What is this, a baseball stadium? There’s venders walking up and down the center isles during the show with flashing headlamps and beer held high in their hands. I SPENT55DOLLARSTOSEEONEOFMYFAVORITEBANDSONEARTH, what are you doing? The light let in by the curtains every time someone goes up to the hallway is also annoying. Not a good place to see a very important band or performance to you. General Admission would be your best bet for this kind of show. And get up close where no UIC Pavilion employee can ruin it for you.

Obviously this facility depends on the venue you opted to do see, but there are a few things that are under their control and consistently bad; vending area are slow and understaffed; bathrooms are scarce and dirty; security is nil. Opted for a different venue, if at all possible. However there are a couple of annual events that I am obligated to attend at this facility. Too bad because I would go elsewhere if I could.

OK at best… Crowded halls, messy bathrooms and meh… seats. I went to see Rise Against with a buddy a while back and am finally reviewing this place, it was THAT unimpressive(The Venue, NOT Rise Against). Here’s the skinny: Small halls get crowded. Bathrooms are a mess but, hey… porta potties. Seats were kinda small and really really cramped together. Non-smoking but, good to go in the nose bleeds. Here’s the fat: The halls to and from the seating area are pretty narrow considering it’s a Sport/Concert/Whatever Else venue. Add to that the beer stands, food stands, t-shirt vendors and miscellaneous other vendors which ALL come with those fancy little stanchions to form neat little lines… YA crowd city there. Good luck on NOT getting bumped and nudges and then spilling your beer on that chick that you’re inadvertently grinding on because of the guy(with questionable intent?) behind you, grinding on you… Get like 6 beers at the beginning, bring the to your seats and just drink ‘em warm later… you’ll have more beer to drink, rather than spillage and a ticked of chica. Bathrooms are a mess, especially at concerts. I cant really fault them too much for that but, still… when there’s piles of crumpled up paper towels on the floor and a urinal that just won’t stop flushing and overflowing, I think it’s time to get a better sanitation contractor. There are porta potties outside though… let’s not even get into THAT. We all know porta johns. The seats are REALLY packed in there, especially up top. Holy crap, where is one to put their elbows? Tuck ‘em in? Alas… there are some seats with a decent amount of room… not«much» more room but, enough that you can get half an elbow out from your ribs. It’s a non-smoking venue… that said, it’s non-smoking if you get caught. There’s an outdoor area to smoke but, if it’s cold or the show is too good or hell if you just don’t care, go to the nose bleed section. Plenty of smokers up there hanging out by the roof vents and such. All in all though the UIC isn’t terrible, nor is it great. It’s just a place where concerts happen and if another band I like happens to be there, so will I. SYOY

I’m a bit baffled to see no improvements to the seats… maybe they expect to only host rock bands, boxing competitions, basketball games, and anything other than 3+ hours of a commencement? They expect participants of commencements to sit in plastic seats that are low enough to give people sores on their rear… For the amount that are racked in through parking(special occasions, $ 10 per car… high school graduation) there are no improvements to the seats. I would pass for other events hosted here. UIC can definitely do better than this!

Two rock ‘n roll thumbs up from this music maven! Have seen several shows at UIC Pavilion — the most recent being the Miss Willie Brown and Dierks Bentley show(don’t judge, y’all) — and have always enjoyed the experience this venue delivers. Beyond being spacious, clean and easy to get to, the sound is phenomenal, the parking is super convenient and there’s nary a bad seat in the house. Absolutely love the feeling of accessibility to the artists despite this being a relatively large arena-type setting. I’ve sat up high for Coldplay and right down in it for Nine Inch Nails and felt cozy and close both times. Someone also once told me they didn’t sell beer here due to its collegiate connection, but I can vouch for the fact that there most definitely is brew in the house. The vendors are plentiful and they actually smile while they gouge you on Bud products and Mike’s Hard Lemonade. Hey, a smile is worth its weight in Bud Light Lime, don’t let anybody tell ya different. Great place to catch a show… Go, Groupies, Go!

To put it frankly, this place SUCKS. Went here for the first time for the Mike Epp’s comedy show. Show started at 8pm, there were no staff directing or managing parking. So it took us 1 hour to get a parking spot at the farthest lot. Not to mention 30 minutes to get out of the lot since there is only 1 exit/enterance. The seats are tiny. I am a size 0 and it was hard for me to get comfortable in my seat. The venue itself is dated and old. It was such a hassel to see the show because of the lack of signage and direction that shouldve been provided by the venue. To add to the bad experience was the horrible sound system they had. The comedians could barely be heard from the upper level because of the interferance and buzzing. Definitely wont be going to any events at the UIC Pavillion.

Home of the Windy City Rollers. Good venue, with good visibility. Didn’t feel crowded or claustrophobic. Plenty of clean bathrooms and well organized concession stands. I thought the graphics on the LED strip that ran around the venue itself were really well designed. And there’s something cool about seeing«LEADJAMMER» scroll around. However. .. $ 6.50 for a Bud Light? Pass. I’ll save my wallet and my liver and eschew the beers, no big deal. And $ 5 for a hot dog? I’ll pass those up too and blame a high price for not eating something I oughta cut down on anyway, and am. The problem I had with this venue was the Will Call area. And I’d likely not have this problem in summer. But, it is winter out, and it’s a bit chilly. Will Call is over to the side of the main entrance, and you have to wait outside to claim your internet-purchased-at-a-discount tickets. Brr. It’d be good if they could move this operation indoors in cold weather. There is nearby, secure parking, but you can find something for free if you cruise around a bit, which we did.

I have been here many times to see the Windy City Rollers, and a few issues have come up. One thing is when I won tickets through The Onion, I was told to pick up at will-call. I had to do the run-around to 3 different gates before I could get in. No one seemed to know what was going on, and I don’t think it was The Onion’s screw-up. UIC needs to train these people. More of an issue is the horrible horrible sound. I can never understand anything the announcers say. The volume is also VERYLOUD. I have started bringing earplugs, but either way it is hard to have a conversation with the person next to you. This is not because of the fans, and it’s not a rock concert, it’s just the sound settings. Other than that, it’s the usual overpriced food and so forth. Seats are comfy enough though. And you can get real close to the action, but even far away it’s a good view.
