Must try if I’m the area I love the wing dinner with mild sauce. It’s a perfect meal for one person!

I truly enjoy U. R, their chicken is seasoned and fried well not to hard so it won’t be dried out. The pieces are a nice size(well the wings are) since that is the only parts I have had. The only difference to me is this location does put enough sauce on the chicken which I like. The new location in Bronzeville does not. Not sure if the new location that particular cook just didn’t do it or what. I would prefer going to the new location but since they are skimpy with the sauce I go out of my way to go to the one on the northwest side. The chicken at both locations is season well and in my opinion way better than Harold’s(I know I will probably get a lot of flack for saying that I truly enjoy U. R. Way better than Harold’s they are so overrated to me. But this is Chicago and people love their Harold’s.) I like the fact that they put a lot of sauce on their food and you don’t have to pay extra for some sauce like you do at Harold’s. Some people may truly think it is too much sauce but that is the way I like it and their model is U. R. The saucy chicken, and they truly stand by their words.

My husband was hungry for something fried. That’s how we ended up trying Uncle Remus Fried Chicken. We got their special which is a great deal. You get 3 pieces, fries and bread for $ 4.69. The fried chicken was delicious, pipping hot and fried goodness. The fries were bleh and the bread was terrible. If you happen to be in Wal-Mart and are hungry, then this place will satisfy that hunger and make you a much happier shopper. It was refreshing to have this establishment in there instead of McDonald’s.

Good fried chicken. Out late on the Westside and before heading back home I wanted some wings. A friend told me to stop by Uncle Remus. The chicken was fresh, hot and seasoned well. The mild sauce was a little sweet compared to harolds but still good!

I received a Groupon type offer today in my inbox for another wing place and after checking out Unilocal decided not to buy into that offer. However, by that time the damage was done and I was craving chicken wings. After a bit of looking on Unilocal I found this place and it was only about a mile or two miles from where I live so I decided to try this place instead. As far as the food goes I’d say for me it rates a good solid 3 star rating which some may interpret as being not that good, but in my mind it means it was good food. I had 10 mild chicken wings and an order of jalapeño poppers to go. The sauce was real good, but I certainly would not say it was the best I’ve ever had. For me prefer a mild sauce that has a slight vinegar twang to it and this one only had a teeney bit of twang to it. Also, the wings came breaded with a coating similar to what you’d get at KFC. I’m used to my wings not being coated in a breading so I’d have prefered to not have that, but apparently others disagree with me since others rate it much higher. As far as the wings go will I ever make a special trip there for them like I did today? No, however if I happen to be Walmart and have a craving I will pick up a few pieces to hold me over until I can get to someplace else. When ordering if you like your wings to have lots of the sauce flavoring then definitely ask for extra sauce on it or you will be dissapointed since they do not cook it in the sauce and just squirt it on from what looks like a squirt bottle so it does not get fully covered. For me the best part of my meal was the jalapeño poppers. The jalapenos did have just a little bit of a vinegar type twang and also just the tiniest bit of heat. I’m a white guy who although I live in a Hispanic neighborhood just can’t handle more than just the smallest hint of heat. Another personal preference for me is I prefer my poppers to have a cheddar cheese filling and thankfully that’s exactly what these had. I just don’t care for the ones that have cream cheese or whatever that white stuff is that in some poppers. Now I can easily see myself making a special trip back specifically for the jalapeño poppers! Another reviewer alluded to the«danger factor» in visiting this Walmart. I’ll be the first to admit that it’s in an area that I’d say is definitely right on the edge of either lower middle class or upper lower class, but it certainly is not a ghetto by any stretch of the imagination. If I was married I would not want my wife going there by herself after dark, but during the daytime I wouldn’t hesitate to say yeah go pick up some things there. I’m a 50 year old white male and I have never felt in any way intimidated walking to or from this store to the bus stop I get off on at Grand and Cicero Avenues. If you’re the type of person who will be afraid walking into a store where 80% of the customers are African American(I think that’s still an acceptable terminology, and if not sorry), 17% are Hispanic and us few whites only make up maybe 3% of the people inside then yeah you may want to avoid this store.

I don’t go to Walmart that often… ESPECIALLY this godforsaken one full of rude ass people, but everytime I go I must stop at Uncle Remus’ and get a 5 wings with extra mild sauce drowning my fries and roll. I love their mild sauce. It is sweeter than Harold’s. They have pretty good specials too. Service is super slow… ALWAYS…but it’s worth the wait.

They have really good saucy fried chicken along with other good standard to go items. I recently tried their saucy pizza puff — very yummy! It hit the spot after a long day of shopping and running errands. Conveniently located in the North Ave Walmart, if you want a little break from shopping and something good to eat. As other’s have mentioned it does get pretty busy cuz it is in the Walmart, and probably not the best place to go if you’re in a rush. But if you have a few minutes, it’s worth the wait.

Best chicken wings in town! I love and crave these wings and they always satisfy. These aren’t your regular sized wings they are big and full of meat, you definitely get alot for your money. They constantly run specials everyday they have a special for a very reasonable price you can’t complain. However the only downfall is the location!, located in the only city’s Walmart its always busy and the way can be a bit frustrating. But once you get your food you completely forget about the long wait! More need to be available in the city and I will forever be there lol! Mild sauce is by far the BEST I HAVEEVERHAD!!!

The chicken is delicious. Born and raised a southsider, I tend to lean towards Harold’s. Uncle Remus has very juicy and crispy chicken and the mild sauce is amazing. I love that they have rolls, instead of just white bread. It’s near impossible to shop in Walmart without the smell of chicken pulling you over. I’m a big fan.

Ugh, I’m so torn over this. I lovee their fried chicken, its the only fried chicken i will crave for. I got some dental work done, and this is the first place I wanted to eat it when i could taste again. Their mild saucy is delicious, and their hot sauce is actually spicy. With all that being said– this location(inside the walmart) sucks huge balls. I will drive all the way out here, and they will be out of their chicken breasts, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, wings, legs and or any given item on the menu. It is impossible to gage what will be available from the menu. I just went today at 12:45 and they were out of chicken breasts, mashed potatoes, dark meat chicken. They only had wings left. This is a mere 3 hours from when they opened! And so with that said– I will still probably be back. It’s hella good and its cheeaappp. I would also recommend getting both the mild and the hot sauce. Just beware thtat you might/probably wont get exactly what you want
