I can’t say enough good things about Universal Auto. Fernando is friendly, helpful, professional, and quick! When I called around several auto repair places in the early afternoon to look at a broken driver side door handle, they all said I had to bring my car in the next morning. Seeing as I drive to work, I couln’t really do that, but Fernando took a look at it immediately when I brought it in 20 minutes after calling. He diagnosed the issue, let me take my car back for the night/​work day, then let me drop it back off in the afternoon to have to work done. He even called ahead to let me know of a slight price change, which is no big deal since the prices are very fair.
Also, it may sound cheesy, but I can’t stress enough how, as a woman, it is so nice to encounter somebody who is professional and not at all condescending or taking advantage of my lack of car knowledge. He even took the time to show me exactly what went wrong, what part needed to be fixed, and what else could possibly be done to help with the lock mechanisms. I’ve come here before to have brake pads replaced, and I will continue to come here and recommend it to anybody in the area.

Got an oil change on a VW, great work and quick service. I will return for future repairs.

Came in for an oil change today without an appointment, and they started working on my car right away. Can’t beat that on a Saturday morning! I have a new 2013 Fiat and I should have changed the oil about 3000 miles ago. Fernando took about 5 minutes explaining the difference between synthetic and conventional oil after he asked which I wanted him to use. I had no idea, but he was really patient answering my dumb questions. Service was quick, and he was very apologetic that it took a little longer than other cars, apparently there’s a weird cover on Fiats and Minis that takes longer to remove. Only ended up being $ 35 even with the synthetic oil. I will always return to these guys for future maintenance and repairs. A nice family business!
Cash only, which is a little weird, but it’s a small business so that’s cool.

I’ve been running around this neighborhood nearly everyday, and on my way to school I always drive/​bike passed this place. Finanlly a few days ago, my exhaust broke. Being a girl not knowing anything about cars, this is the first place that came up to my mind. Went there and asked for the price, he said $ 50. I also went to other places, they were charging me like $ 180. So of course, I am going back to the $ 50. Fernando (the owner) did a great job I guess? the noise stopped at least haha. It’s a small shop considering that it doesn’t even have a Unilocal account opened! I was really scared, but there are so many other places with 200+ 5 stars review, i feel like those scarier. He might have switched out my parts, but I hope not. I am never gonna find out anways haha.
