Put simply, Uptown Phở is the gold standard of Vietnamese phở restaurants. My girlfriend and I go here on a monthly basis, leaving very satisfied every time. I typically go with the large bowl of phở, filled with meat balls, steak, and brisket. Add some hoisen and sriracha to the mix and you’ll be breathing clearly in no time. I also highly recommend getting boba smoothies here, they are fresh, cold and delicious.

The atmosphere of this hole in the wall was nice. The decorations were simple not overly ornated with Asian themed things. The music in the background was from the popular pop radio stations. The service was average. The waitress filled water as nesassary, delivered food timely, and checked up on everything once. The food was above average. The springs rolls had lettuce, bean sprouts, mint leaves, and shrimp. The phở was flavorful, meat portions were good BUT I have had better. My personal favorite dish so far from here is… The Vietnamese famous dish, Bun Bo Hue, Beef Noodle soup from Hue. The flavors of this delicious bowl were enriched by the perfect combination of beef shank, tendon, and pork feet. The addition of mint leaves, bean sprouts, banana core, and limes make this bowl irresistible. This is one of my favorite dishes amongst anything I have ever eaten. It’s a must try if you’re in the area! Four stars: 1 service 1 quality of food 1 selection of choices 1 atmosphere *There’s room for improvement with service, paint and décor, but overall it was a nice experience. The quality of food is what matters most to me and I would say this place is a must try!

WHAT A FIND! Like most good things, we stumbled up on this one. In search of a snack, we walked past this little joint. We had the pork egg rolls, shrimp spring roll, and split a pork meatball Ba Mih sandwich. My comely companion is sort of a SEA seasoned traveller, so he loves this stuff. Both of us thought everything was spot on, delicious and BUDGETFRIENDLY! Everything was super fresh and well made. Thai ice tea was creamy and yummy as they usually are. The Unilocal coupon is a great idea, and easy to use. Recommended for a quick cheap snack in this constantly improving, interesting neighborhood.

Best phở in town hands down! 5 stars judged by their Delicious flavorful aromatic broth and high quality meat! Service can be spotty at times when they are busy.

THE place to go after a long night at Big Chicks. The food not only tastes great but has also saved my husband and me from some potentially killer hangovers. The best part is having leftovers because it is just as good sober as it is when you have had a few too many chocolate martinis.

They had arguablely the best phở. Up there with le colonial. Egg Rolls were not that great. Bahm mi was really good. Bread was awesome but wish they put some more meat. 5⁄5. would come back and recommend friends.

Ordered a Regular Phở dac biet, Bun Bo Hue, and an order of Cha Gio. Cha gio came 3 to an order for $ 5, and they were crispy but the filling aside was just alright. As for the soup well… let’s say I was surprised, and in a good way. They have regular and XL bowls and I tried pushing my friend to order the XL, but when the regular came out we could tell it was more than enough food. Can only imagine how large the XL must be… could probably feed 2 small eaters. The broth itself was a bit sweeter than I’m used to, but beyond that it was adequately aromatic and beefy. Also very happy they had Bun Bo Hue, which while it had a bit more fish paste than I’m used to, really hit the spot. Garnishes for both soups were plentiful and very fresh, from the cabbage and banana blossoms to the bean sprouts and basil. Seems like a nice cozy place that I would have no qualms coming back to. Food was good(though I do think the broth is better at Le’s), and prices were very reasonable for the large amounts of food we got; two bowls of soup and an order of spring rolls and we only spent $ 12/person(after tax and tip), thanks to the $ 25 for 20 coupon. Also the place seems as if its owned by a nice old viet family, so you can tell it gets really homey up in here.

Ordered for delivery a few nights ago. We had a large beef, a large chicken and bubble tea. The phở was great, ingredients were fresh! Bubble tea was nice and smooth and fruity. The only reason I gave four stars is one, I didn’t see egg rolls on the menu. Not sure if they have egg rolls or not but that was a let down. And two the wait time for delivery was ridiculously long! It took and hour and thirty minutes. I suggest if you plan on eating here to dine in. The food was great though!

Love this spot, legit Phở. It’s a great date night hide out and I enjoy the veggie & tofu phở. And the spring rolls(pork/shrimp). Staff are friendly. Pretty easy to get to off red line or bus.

Vegetarians: great options! The vegetarian phở was some of the best I’ve ever had. The broth was flavorful and there were plenty of vegetables. They also had vegetarian options for other dishes like their banh mi and something else I can’t recall This place is in a area with many other Vietnamese restaurants so check out the others while you’re here!(I.e a bakery)

Nice place and conveniently located a block or so from the Argyle redline stop. I met a friend for dinner and I ordered the vegetable and tofu phở. About 10 minutes later a steaming hot bowl of phở filled with fresh vegetables and tofu was brought out. I added bean sprouts, basil and fresh lime juice. Small place with about 7 tables, no frills, just phở. Service was friendly and I paid $ 10 for my meal. I’ll be back!

Not my favorite phở place. The broth has a very odd taste to it that I really was not a fan of at all. The beef however wasn’t chewy which I really liked. Also got an order of spring rolls which were kind of a huge disappointment. It was definitely overladen with lettuce and not enough of the rice noodles that I normally love the most in spring rolls! The service was also very lackluster. It took us a very long time to flag a server down to get the check. Overall there are many better phở places in the area!

CONSUMERALERT: Do NOT order delivery from this place! Sick with pneumonia, I really wanted some phở… The reviews on the food here looked great so I decided to give it a chance. Almost two hours later, my delivery arrives… Two styrofoam containers: one of semi-warm broth with a couple of meatballs floating around in it, and one full of everything that is supposed to be in my soup. Cold. Cold noodles, cold brisket, cold everything. There’s even some raw meat in there in some Saran Wrap… Um, if I wanted to cook for myself I wouldn’t have ordered delivery!!! So, yeah, apparently this place is great in person… For delivery, I couldn’t discourage you enough to not give this place your business!

This was my first time trying phở and I’m a fan! I got the vegetarian phở and it had loads of vegetables and tofu so it was super filling. I also tried the strawberry smoothie and it was really fresh and good. The waitress was really patient when it took us a long time to order even though she was the only one working. She was also really attentive and made sure to check on us even though they were pretty crowded and she had a bunch of other tables. The only complaint I had is that my boyfriend’s phở didn’t have nearly as many noodles in it so the quality isn’t consistent, but overall I’d definitely recommend to a friend!

The older gentleman is very helpful and he reminds me of a parent who tries to do things for you that you can do yourself. Nonetheless, that’s all very much appreciated. Especially when it came to eating the crêpe appetizer with the veggies and lettuce wraps — oy vey, that was messy but tasty. The Unilocal check in yields egg rolls! The soup warms the soul and the inspiration to visit Vietnam one day. I can hardly wait for the summer time so we can dine outside on the new sidewalk and new Argyle street. Chicago kicks arse — you know it!

Really good Phở. We also ordered a bunch of appetizers and those were hit or miss. The crab rangoon was some of the best I’ve tasted, but the pork egg roll was very dry. The spicy shrimp was fantastic with an interesting dipping sauce, but it was served with sweet potato fries that were boring. I’ve had those done better elsewhere. Back to the Phở. It had the right combination of spices in the broth and the beef was clearly just throw in to cook(like’s it’s supposed to) and hadn’t been sitting in the broth all day. Lots of fresh veggies and more were given to us when had to call uncle and get the rest to go. Still delicious the next morning, and that is the sign of a good Phở.

First time here and probably my last time. We recently visited yesterday for dinner and were unable to sit indoors because of a party. The inside is nice but the outside needs work! The trim for outdoor patio needs to be painted and cleaned we had spiders webs and spiders creeping up on and near our table. Not to mention next to the alley and garbage cans not great! The only choice we had was to sit outside«al fresco.» Sounds cool right?! NOT I ordered the pork egg rolls(free if you check in on Unilocal) our waitress spilled the fish sauce dipping sauce all over table, chairs, floor! I also had da chanh«lemonade» refreshing, and pork chop with pork skin, and egg in rice. My friend ordered the fried shrimp rolls and chicken and crispy yellow noodles but the waitress brought her the wrong dish chicken with yellow noodle soup instead ugh! With the staff overwhelmed with the party inside of 40 plus ppl they were not attentive to us. Oh also they’re are doing way too much construction on Argyle its a wreck and mess. I am glad that police were nearby because of the recent murder associated to gangs that occurred just on this area this week. Scary thought!

Uptown Phở gon’ give it to ya! I stopped by Uptown Phở to ordered some com tam(broken rice platter) to bring home to eat and got to talking with the owner and he was super friendly and sweet. I love the hospitality the workers provide at this location. The food is delicious and the price is pretty reasonable. Parking can be a bit tricky during peak hours and you will have to pay for parking so try to that the Red Line if you can because it is really close to the Argyle stop. I wish Uptown Phở was closer to me so I can go more often!
