This was one of the worst improv shows I have ever seen. It felt like a frat house hijacked an improv show. There was drinking/toasting every 10 minutes, and even the performers drank, which I find somewhat unprofessional. The format of the games was fine; it’s short-form improvisation. It’s «Whose Line Is It Anyway» but live. The problem I have is the choices the improvisers make – almost every joke was a crude reference to sex or genitalia. I don’t really have a problem if the sex jokes are done tastefully, but they weren’t even done well. One of the male performers was imitating masturbation for an entire improv scene. The finale of the show consisted of one woman pretending to give oral sex to another woman. The other non-sex related improv scenes were somewhat better. The performers are talented and can sing very well. The silver lining of the show were the musicians. They saved the show from being a complete waste of $ 20.

This place is awesome. Bought tickets for $ 18, 2 days before the show it was a full house. Awesome cast. I couldn’t stop laughing. BYOB and encourage drinking only makes the show better. I can’t wait to go back with a group of friends because I heard they have group pricing.

Energetic, enthusiastic and entertaining show! The entire cast is talented and committed to their craft — no matter who is on for the night, it is sure to be a good time. Nothing is off limits for this bunch — and they really get the crowd going with their raucous humor. There is not a bad seat to be had at this intimate venue — you are always right in the midst of the action, and the BYOB feature adds to the fun for everyone. Go see this one!

We came here Saturday night for a work outing without much knowledge of what we had signed up for… and had the absolute best time! The show is amazing and the cast is so talented. People allude to it being a musical version of «Who’s Line is it Anyway», which while a fair description, does not do justice to the difficulty of improv singing. Plus the band rocked. An absolutely awesome way to spend an hour on a Saturday night! Plus they’re BYOB! Additionally Michael was incredibly helpful in getting everything organized for us so if you’re a group reach out to him in advance. Will definitely be coming back for more.

Completely way totally funny AND they create a neighborhoody atmosphere that makes it really comfortable to come on over. Great entertainment. BYOB. Definitely go to this one.

This is a fun show! They follow a typical improv formula, but they keep it interesting with songs and music. I really like that it’s BYOB. It’s like going to a party with live entertainment!

Diamond in the ruff! What a great find for a random night with no plans. Every actor/actress had us laughing in every improv skit. Very talented and quick on their feet. We will definitely be coming back for future performances. Oh, and did I mention it’s BYOB? Always a good policy

My boyfriend and I came to see VAMP after being invited by a friend. We thought«why not?» And we ended up having the best time! First of all, it’s BYOB which already takes it up a notch, but I need to mention that it would have been just as fun sober. The performers were hilarious and extremely talented, I honestly couldn’t pick my favorite. I had to check my make up several times because I was laughing so hard there were tears coming out of my eyes. It’s small and intimate so everyone gets really into it. The best part of the show was at the end when the performers came out to hang with us. We literally took shots with them and it was the best thing ever. I had to write a review because I haven’t had that much fun at a comedy show probably ever. We’re so happy we went and I’ll definitely be seeing them again. Also, it’s basically the perfect pregame, if you’re looking for that.

I had part of my sister’s Bachelorette Party at MCL Friday June 5th for VAMP and it was great! The cast was so funny and Micheal was very easy to work with for setting things up. We had about 15 ladies and the 2 front rows were saved for us and they even had my sister go up on stage, everyone loved that part! Great place for big groups or small ones

I’ve been going to VAMP since mid January this year, back when they were only Saturday nights at 10:30(they’ve since adopted Friday nights at 10:30 as well!), since then, I’ve been to something like 10 shows. Trust me when I say it’s BYOB improv comedy of the highest caliber. There’s a reason I keep coming back: the efforts of every single person – the host, the players, the bartender, the band, and even the light and music operator – blow me away every time. Lots of creative audience participation is key to a great night at VAMP, which is one of the things I love most about going. Feeling like you contributed something to the show each night really enhances the whole experience. The keyholders will stick around to talk to the audience after each show and they’re an incredibly friendly, personable bunch. All in all I can’t say enough about VAMP other than… see you Friday!

MCL Chicago is fantastic. I’ve had the opportunity to attend 6 shows, we saw Sassafras twice and VAMP4 times. Every show is unique, unfiltered, and hilarious. This past weekend we had a group of 20 that came out to celebrate 3 birthdays and the coordinator of the show was able to incorporate all 3 into their show! In case you didn’t read the fine print, this club is BYOB which is fricken amazing. They don’t provide any cups or ice but allow you to drink anything. Some class it up with wine, others are pulling out of handles — either way the cast, crew, and crowd are always a blast. Do yourself and your friends a favor and head out to VAMP on a Friday or Saturday at 10:30PM. I would buy tickets in advance, the last two shows have sold out! PS In perspective, we have attended Thirsty! the Second City, and Bye Bye Liver — and have had the most consistently entertaining time at MCL! Note: We have no personal connection to MCL, first time we went because we wondered what the large green lights were. Take our word for it, this show rocks.
