Villa Verdone

My group of 10 ladies rented the 2^nd and 3^rd floor apts for a week. The Positives, safe beautiful neighborhood, good restaurants nearby, walking distance (about a 1 ½ miles) to most sights, Oak St. Beach 2 blocks away, City Bike rental on the corner, free washer and dryer. The Negatives… I have rented places world wide and found that this place was lacking the basics ie pump hand soap or bar soap in the bathrooms, wine opener, glass wine glasses, wash cloths, salt and pepper. There were also severe maintenance issues… a broken bed post we had to wrap in blankets, so we didn’t snag ourselves, smelly carpet up the stairs, a hard to open– because it was broken– sofa bed, wires hanging across the patio door opening, the advertised exercise room was in shambles– snow shovel and furniture laying over a nice looking treadmill, and a giant broken mirror leaning against the wall. The second floor apt only had one mirror– located in the bathroom, for the whole apt– with 5 women getting ready to go out– this was a problem. Another negative was dealing with the owner. A week before our rental, I left him a voice message inquiring about the door codes. I got no reply. As the rental time got closer, I texted, messaged, face booked him, still no reply. The evening before our trip I finally was sent the code. If he had just said in the rental agreement that codes would be given the day before the rental, I would not have felt so anxious. Courtesy goes a long way. I would have given this place 1 star, but we had a great time on the 3^rd floor roof top deck and enjoyed sharing a meal or two around the dining table. However, If I had to do this trip again, I would probably have gotten 3 hotel rooms near State Street and the river. The Villa Verdone is over priced for its condition.

Super location close to everything. We had the two bedroom unit– nicely updated and clean. Can’t get any more convenient as far as Lake, shopping and restaurants. Very safe clean area of town. Very nice option for a get-​away

My reservation at another condo was cancelled at the last minute (on the drive down to Chicago! Yikes!) and I was scrambling to find somewhere for my friends and I to stay on our trip. I put in a phone call and it was promptly returned. The staff was flexible and extremely helpful. We had trouble finding our correct parking spots and someone answered the phone at 8pm! It was nice to know they would be there to answer questions at any time. The accommodations were beautifully decorated, I felt like a princess in the four poster bed! Excellent location in a nice, safe area and the bright red front door ensured we knew we were home! They allowed late check out at no extra charge. Can’t say enough positive things about how they treat their customers.
