I must be a glutton for punishment by continuing to come here. The locations at 1601 N Milwaukee Ave or 2001 N Milwaukee Ave are infinitely nicer and less of a clusterf*ck. You know the pharmacy line is long when an employee walks by and mutters«oh Jesus».

I wish I could give this Walgreens 0 stars or even a negative score. The staff is ghetto in the sense that everyone there is unprofessional. There are long lines meanwhile employees are standing around talking, eating on the registers, and simply ignoring the customers. I live two blocks away and I vow to never return to this location again I tried way too many times to give them a try on a last minute snack run, but 10 – 15 mins in line for chips is ridiculous. Honestly, there are other stores more deserving of your business. If you like long lines while watching people gossip and be on there phone ignoring you this store is for you!

They are fast with my prescriptions so I keep coming back here. They also have discounts on medications that helps for some prescriptions that my insurance doesn’t cover. You just have to ask the first time. They give them to me regularly now. Beyond that it’s a Walgreens nothing special.

The pharmacy here has excellent, professional staff who are attentive and patient. They are the only reason for 2 stars. The other clerks here are pretty friendly and helpful, too. The woman at the photo counter is professional and friendly. However, everything is locked up — deodorant, shampoo, GUM — so I have to buzz the button to have an associate open it up while I embarrassingly point to the item I want. Their stock is often low and they do not have the same selection as other Walgreen’s stores. As much as I love the pharmacy, I am taking my business to another Walgreen’s. I gave this location 9 months…

This location is always dirty and crawling with creeps. Their products, specifically drinks, seem to be always out of stock too. Really the only positive is that they have a parking lot.

As for the Walgreens as a whole, it’s Walgreens. Pretty much the same as the other 50,000 of them. The pharmacy here, however, is great. Everyone I have dealt with there has been pretty efficient, friendly, and extremely helpful resolving confusing insurance issues and prescription mistakes. Definitely well above average.

After tiring of the slow and disorganized pharmacy service at the Chicago Ave & Western Ave CVS, and never having liked the Chicago & Damen Dominick’s, I decided to try getting a prescription filled at this Walgreens. I have an uncommon prescription, so I called ahead to ensure they had it in stock. The woman who answered put me on hold for a good while after I first inquired. She came back after a while, though, to assure me I hadn’t been forgotten and let me know they still needed a few extra moments to answer my question, because they had the drug in stock but were counting the capsules to ensure they had as many as I needed. I minded the wait a lot less knowing that it was to avoid the inconvenience of me showing up only to find them short. When I came, I waited in line only a minute to have my prescription accepted. By comparison, at this same time of day, the pharmacy staff at CVS were generally so occupied as to make customers wait ten minutes or more. I needed to return home soon to meet someone, so I decided to pick up my prescription the next day. Seeing the possibility of better service at this store, I transferred a second, existing prescription there that evening via Walgreens’ website and asked that it be refilled and ready by 6pm the next day(after work), the time that I planned to pick up my first prescription. Helpfully, Walgreens’ website warned me that this might be too short a window to get the transfer done, but accepted my request nonetheless. There was no wait to pick up my prescription the following day. The woman who rang me up recognized my name and remembered the details of my prescriptions right away, including that I had left with them a manufacturer’s coupon card that was needed for a 50% discount on an expensive co-pay. The had also successfully filled my transferred prescription despite my short notice. In my limited-but-positive experience, the staff at this store were attentive and swift in gross contrast to my old CVS.

HUGE parking lot! Awesomeness. But sometimes there are scammers in the lot asking you for a dollar to get back on the bus, etc. Sometimes I give them a dollar anyway because I figure at least $.50 might make it to their baby’s belly in food. The pharmacy here is super slow but friendly and polite. I just wish I wasn’t given a 45 minute to an hour wait for a Scrip of a very common med. What am I supposed to do, play with the off-brand Etch-A-Sketches in the toy aisle? Well, that’s exactly what I do!

It’s a Walgreens I know. They carry things that Walgreens carries. Big deal. I literally live seconds away from this place and it’s always a dread, why oh why can’t there be a CVS near? And I’m not about to walk to W Grocer for overpriced goods, despite their convenient hours. My problem with this Walgreens is the staff is some of the rudest I’ve ever dealt with. I feel like I’m walking into a Middle School, where the cashier’s would rather chat about their baby daddys or who slept with who than to be bothered with your rude interruption to check out. I had one cashier that literally sneered at me, with 6 people behind me waiting to check out, while she carried on a conversation with another cashier whose lane wasn’t even open. She sneered as soon as their conversation was done I guess because I was rude enough to bother with checking out NOW as opposed to in 15 minutes, note I didn’t even say or posture anything to her. This place needs those self-checkout lanes and it would be perfect. Oh, and all the signs are in spanish only so good luck finding anything if you’re english-speaking only as the staff sure as hell isn’t going to be bothered with a question. And definite agreement with Elisabeth about the panhandlers. Having gone many a time out of convenience, 80% of the time there is a panhandler right outside the door, while the security guard lolls about and oogles everyone from the beauty department, doing nothing. The whole store should be fired and re-hired. Ridiculous.
