Great work location. Had a terrible day? They always have walk-in appointments available. The therapists are excellent and the quality of the facilities is much better than most gym spas I have been too. As indicated in the other review, the prices are great as a member but if you’re not one you’d be better off heading to a different spa. They have a 4 hour cancellation policy which is really nice. The women’s locker room is attached to the spa, so if you are female you do not have the same problems that the men have. Oh, and btw, I recommend Heather on Wednesdays for a total bliss massage.

First of all, I feel a bit guilty rating this spa. I am a Sir Spa loyalist and feel like I am cheating every time I sneak from my office next door to Waves Spa. However, if you are a member of Lakeshore Athletic Club, you can’t beat the prices and the services available at the Waves Spa. If you are NOT a member, don’t bother. You can get a better spa for close to the same prices elsewhere and, especially for men, it would be better for you to trek to Sir Spa or Urban Oasis. The good: 1) My therapist is great. My therapist has just the right amount of pressure and is comfortable to work with. That said, I will not reveal the name because my therapist is only there two days and I’ll be darned if I risk them not being available when I need a massage on a Friday afternoon. 2) Tanya, the woman who did my manicure and pedicure, is friendly and good. She talks as much as you want her to, but is also content to work her magic in silence as you relax. 3) The receptionist at night is very friendly, and the ones during the day seem kind of friendly too, but just a bit more threatening. Like the shop girls from the movie Pretty Woman. 4) The treatment rooms are quiet and well appointed. I expected more noise given I was in the middle of a gym, but was surprised to find them very insolated. The Bad: 1) Leaving the spa and going into the men’s locker room is hit or miss. You’ll either immediately run into dozens of people that should use towels for coverage or, if you’re really unlucky, an entire basketball team that just finished a game and wants to tell the entire locker room about it. Nothing worse than loud noise after tranquility. Like leaving a massage and walking out into New York central station. 2) During the winter, to check into the spa, you must go through the Spa entrance with street clothes, get you towel and tiny slippers, then walk back out across the hall into the men’s locker room to check your coat and leave your things in the locker. Would be nice if they had a robe station in the locker room. 3) They only have 2 male therapists and they are only available on Friday and Saturday. If you are like me and only work with male therapists you will have few options for treatments at Waves.
