Two of my girlfriends and I stumbled in here last night after way too much wine at dinner. First reaction — it was empty besides one man. But it was a Monday night so I’ll give that a pass. The bartender, Derek, was really cool and humored three loud tipsy girls with no sass at all which was much appreciated. He also made us a really great shot and played«Guess our names» with us. It’s a dive bar with a really causal vibe. I’m sure we’ll be back!

Well we went on a cold MLK day and the place was empty, but it did just open for the day, but I am ok with places that are empty. I would love to check this place out in the summer as the patio is bigger than the bar itself. Beers were cold, Bartender/GM was very nice and made us feel right at home. The bar is dark inside, just expect that fact or a beer and chat up the staff. Not sure if there is food, as we ate before coming, but I do know in the summer they have a grill on the patio so you can cook your own food. I will be coming back.

I have only been to Weeds once but it is one of my favorite bars in the Lincoln Park area. It’s hard to describe but the ambiance there is very calming. They have a pool table and are constantly showing terribly awful but funny movies on one of their TV’s. Cannot wait to return in the summer to check out their patio.

I like it here, and would give it five stars but for a couple minor issues. 1– the music was too loud. Nothing against loud music, but it just doesn’t fit with my expectations for a divey bar. I expect a more chill experience. If you want the music to permeate, buy more speakers and turn the system down, don’t blast from one or two. 2– zombie dust was on the chalkboard menu, yet unavailable. Don’t do that. Seriously. Soon as that nectar of the fuggin gods runs out, you take an eraser and wipe that sh*t off. A bit on the small side, but not too small. Table and bar spacing was good, and they have a beer garden in the back, so thumbs up for the layout. Service was perfect, and they offer a discount to people who work in the area– all in all I felt very welcomed. Solid beer list, they had maybe 20 – 30 which ranged from Miller lite to Fin du monde, along with some boozier options including daily specials. I will absolutely be back.

Weeds is like a penny! It was once dull and worn, but made of solid copper. It is now new and bright, but made of mostly zinc.

This is one of my favorite places in Chicago. Great neighborhood feel. Amazing patio! Friendly staff! Close to everything but a hidden Gem.

I love this little bar, and I would give it 5 stars if they served food(all the time). I saw another review that says they serve food on the weekends, but I have yet to confirm. The patio is huge, and the inside almost feels like a dive bar, without being gross… If that makes any sense? Oh and sometimes they have a dog in the bar, which is awesome because I LOVE dogs. Good prices and daily specials. They also have theme nights and sometimes live music. I would definitely check this bar out… And take note of the artwork all over the bathroom stalls.

A small dark dive bar in a gentrifying part of Chicago. Cheap beer but how long will they have the cheap stuff. This Place is closed early on week nights for some reason. Ok bar

Great bar! Love their comedy open mic on Tuesdays and their karaōke nights on Thursdays. The only negative thing is they have a strict $ 10 minimum on all cards.

Great dive bar. I’ve only been here twice but the bartender(Johnny) is super friendly. Beer selection is good and drinks are reasonably priced. No issue finding a seat to rest your heels or watch the game. Plus the bathrooms are clean! All around a nice place to grab a beer.

OMGBAGS! They have bags. I love bags. Their outdoor patio is awesome(and open until 2pm!) A bunch of friends threw a surprise party here and they were very accommodating. Great music, cool vibe, good bartenders. This place is kind of far from my apartment but I’m definitely going to make it a point to come back from time to time.

After searching the city for a place I could play bags, I found myself at Weeds. I became slightly obsessed over the summer and plan to again next summer. It’s never terribly crowded, good and reasonably priced beer selection(and reg. specials), live music, large patio, and oh yea – BAGS! It loses a star as sometimes the music is too loud outside to even talk and, as previous posts mentioned, there are always rats(I realize they are everywhere in Chicago, I just reallyreally hate them). I also appreciate the free food on Friday nights – always a plus!

The first bar where I ever read my poetry to an audience. Cheap drinks, good times! I would definitely return for their poetry night.

Decent prices on beer. I paid $ 3 for a PBR tallboy, which is much less than a number of other bars in the area charge. They also sell pitchers of cheaper beer and had Goose Island’s Pere Jacques on tap. The bartender was quick and they had the Olympics playing on the TV. It feels like a dive bar inside, but the bathrooms are way too nice and the patio is pretty romantic. We started inside and moved outside after our hash. On a Monday night there weren’t too many people, so we had the entire outdoor area to ourselves. I didn’t know this place existed and I can’t wait to come back.

I would give them 4 stars if… If I wouldn’t see rats in beer garden. Not once, not twice. Rats were there all evening. I saw once 4 fighting /playing/jumping RATS. Come on guys. You have call a service. It was no fun watching little guys running around us. Groossss.

Went here to see the O’My’s last weekend. Super sexy guitar player, but er hem, I digress. Good place for a couple of bitches to down some drinks and be twice as old, yet twice as hot as anyone in the room. The beers are cold, the music is hot — what else do you want in a bar? Good place to see a band, but what’s up with this weird, manufactured neighborhood? Contrived. Weeds has been here a long time, which is good.

Love it! This dive bar comes complete with super friendly staff, a quirky mix of patrons, moose antlers on the wall, gray duct tape holding up posters in the restrooms, pool tables and a huge beer garden with corn-hole. Honestly, felt like I was in a Hollywood created dive bar on a movie set. Visited on a Friday night and the place was relatively slow with plenty of seating. I will definitely visit again. So glad I was introduced to this place.
