One of my favorite bars, primarily because I live across the street. It doesn’t have much but it’s got cheap beer and shuffleboard. Nuff said, right? If you like a small, chill bar this place is for you. The staff is nice and they have a few TV’s. You can spin the wheel for a randomized $ 4 shot. Watch out for the Malort!

After a few ownership places in the last few years, Wellington’s is back on track. All the great drink specials that made it such an appealing option are back on. Shuffleboard and a few video games are still in the back. Wednesday Night Trivia is back at 8pm, complete with $ 3 drafts. The bartender(Paul) always remembers everyone’s names and favorite drinks, and as you’re taking your final sip he’ll have a refill ready and waiting. Its the perfect bar to go sit and talk with your friends, have cheap drinks, play some shuffleboard, play your favorite tunes on the jukebox, and get friendly attentive service. If I lived closer I would be here multiple times a week!

I took the train from downtown area to meet up with my friend that I have known since 1st grade PSR. He now lives in the Lincoln Park neighborhood and was drinking with a buddy of his at Wellington’s. I noticed that the houses surrounding Wellington’s would reflect the type of crowd I could expect. Kind of a lot of yuppies. The bartender was great and the service was excellent. Most of the time i just don’t like the type of crowd at a certain bar, and this was that exact situation.

Wellington’s is a prime example of why this neighborhood is so great to live in-you just have to walk to the corner of a quiet little side street to find a great bar! Super cool bartenders, shuffle board, TVs, good specials, a small food menu, a nice line-up of draft beers, and trivia on Wednesday nights makes Wellington’s the perfect neighborhood bar around the corner!

Went here last night(Friday night) as my friend from out of town wanted to go to a place with Shuffleboard. It was jammed pretty tight when we got there(let’s call it 11:00pm) but the bartenders were cognizant of newcomers to the bar so we never had to wait for a drink longer than two minutes. The crowd was very young and pretty lame — mostly Depaul kids and frat douchers elbowing their way through non-existant spaces and the DJ’s playlist was pretty weak. At one point I asked him if he had access to any songs created before 2008. We ended up getting to play shuffleboard after about a 30 minute wait and we promptly got smoked by the two kids who clearly spend every waking minute of their lives at the shuffleboard table. All good though; the $ 3 draft(everything was $ 3) quickly numbed our defeat. All in all, not a bad place. Can’t beat $ 3 Green Line drafts on a Friday night. Come early if you want space or more than one shot on the shuffleboard table though.

This place is okay but doesn’t really stand out to me. I came here with friends on a Friday night around midnight and it was packed. It’s small so unless you have a table, you will be standing around and barely able to move. One friend ordered a round of Goldschlaeger shots which were watered down. This place has a shuffle board table which I looooove, but that was hogged by a group of fratties. I would be willing to try Wellington’s again if we went early in the night.

They always say you should live your life with no regrets and so far I only have 2: Not getting a bigger Brita pitcher and not going to Wellington’s until after I moved out of Chicago. I used to live around the corner and I would walk by, sneaking a peak, wondering what was going on inside. And I never went in. For 2 years. I recently visited a friend who lives nearby while I was back in town and she suggested we go in for a drink. And then we entered a drinking wonderland. Where any draft is $ 3 on a Friday night! Where they play your fave indie songs early in the night and the entire bar rocks out to Shout later! Where a guy stands on the bar and belts out Meatloaf! Where you can still sit and chit chat with your friends! Where the bartenders are attentive and pleasant! If you live nearby, I’m green with jealousy.

This is a good hole in the wall, cheap local bar. They also allow you to order food in since they do not have a kitchen/their own menu. Go have some beers, watch a food ball game and order pizza! Nuff said!

This is my Cheers! I live a few blocks away and I come here at least once a week. They play great music, have good drink prices, and I always have a blast. Everyone who works there is super friendly: Chad, Chris, Nate, and Kerry. I always go to Trivia on Wednesday at 9PM because there is this tall drink of water named Mike that always has the bar in stiches during Trivia. This is a very chill friendly atmosphere where you actually talk to other people in the bar.

Had walked by Wellington’s many times, and finally came by with some time to pull up a stool. Nice little neighborhood place with a few large TV’s for game watching, bar shuffleboard, and Guinness on tap(among others). Happy as a clam. Just how happy IS a clam anyway? I’m not exactly sure now that I think about it. Anyway, suffice it to say I was indeed happy at Wellington’s.

Best neighborhood bar in the area. So chill, staff is super personable and gets to know their regulars. Great for Sunday Funday and football and their trivia on Wednesdays is hoppin with a great host. Haven’t been here on a Fri/Sat in a long time, but being that it is a small bar, I would assume it gets crazy busy but you’re pretty much guaranteed a good time with what I know of the vibe of this place. –They don’t have a kitchen there but for certain events, they bring in food from their brother bar-Houndstooth, OR you can bring in whatever you want or get delivery, which is sweet. Love it.

I am a fan of Wellingtons — for the past few years, my friends and I have camped out here to watch Sunday Football and to partake in some Sunday Funday action. I really love Wellingtons because they pretty much let us bring in our own potluck which we proceeded to eat all day as we watched football and had some beers. Basically it’s just a chill bar with no pretentiousness… oh and it has a shuffle board table, which is an awesome and infuriating game. The bartenders are always cool and friendly and quick to replace your beer. Last weekend they had a phenomenal deal — $ 20 all you can drink beer plus wings during the Bears game, um, yes please!

It might be biased of me to review, but I really only am going off the décor and staff since the bar couldn’t even supply a white wine or even a cider beer for celiac disease folks like myself. The door guy was pretty friendly when I first arrived and even started up a light conversation before I headed in doors paying a fee that was pre-arranged in celebration of my friend’s birthday. The moment I walked up to the bar and asked the female bartender if they had cider beer with a quick«no», I requested to see if any products were gluten free, which were not(come on! Not even a potato shelf vodka!?) I asked her if they have white wine, only to get an unsympathetic«na-ugh». It’s a shame that they don’t even offer a white wine or even a red that wasn’t the $ 5 brand you can pick up at jewel, in substitute when you can even find a wine option at the complete dive of a punk bar called EXit. I remained a sober sole to an evening of clinking glasses being paraded around me, and a rough realization that the bar is almost just slightly larger in width than the matchstick bar, and the bad taste of self loathing to my plastic cup of water the entire night, knowing that this bar is not worth the energy. Get on the bandwagon wellington! Gluten free is the new black to some folks!

i wandered in with 2 girlfriends after a delightful dinner. we all agreed that we needed an after dinner drink and wanted to try a new place. wellington’s was nearby, so in we came! it’s not a huge bar by any means, but i liked that it was cozy and full of neighborhood people. after partaking in a beverage, we found out that wednesday is trivia night, so we decided to play a few rounds. the mc for trivia was a crack up and the rounds were quick and straightforward(i hate it when it takes like 25 minutes to tally scores). overall, we really liked wellington’s! it’s cute, laid back, set around the corner from my apt, reasonably priced and has a great trivia night. i’d definitely go back. it’s wednesday, so maybe even tonight!

Neighborhood bar. Lots of regulars. Good specials on Thursday and Friday nights when I frequent. Five dollar pitches on Thursday and any draft on tap for 3 dollars on Friday. Personally this would not be a place that I would go out of my way to have a few beers. But my room mate works here and I don’t mind having a foot in the door when I stop by. The bar tenders are chill, the door guy checks ID like a champ and the DJ plays a decent variety of hip-hop and other popular tracks. The bar is clean and has a decent amount of room if you want to come with a group. Oh and you can sign up for a «party» if your name is drawn which undoubtedly will happen. And when that does you can bring in a group for $ 1 drafts and $ 2 well drinks for a few hours. Not bad. This bar caters to the neighborhood but if you are feeling like something a bit more low key this is your spot. Don’t get there too late or you will be swimming through the crowd, which sucks, because the building is a bit narrow. I would say between 10 and 11 to lock a good spot down on the weekend.

I have no idea what I like about this bar but something about it kicks arse. The best way to describe it is that it is a really nice neighborhood bar. The specials are always decent($ 1 burgers you can never complain), even if the staff doesn’t always seem like they are working but that is what a neighborhood bar is about. The establishment is narrow, but wft its a neighborhood bar. If what you are looking for a time out is a fun time you can have with your friend and actually get a seat with non-chodes, Wellington’s is where you want to be. Post Script– Wicked pissa pregame spot.

I hate narrow bars… they’re waaaay packed and most of the time they’re filled with drunk tools who«conveniently» bump into you 56 times and simply say«shawwy, my bad.» AHHHHHHHHHHH. Anyway, I came here with a buddy to meet up with a friend of hers but I can never see myself revisiting this alley, like on my own suggestion…

Went here for a birthday party, not a bad place to spend the early hours of the night at. The package was 3 dollar beers and 3 dollar well drinks from 8 – 11. The music was old school and I really enjoyed it. I guess this joint lacks a menu, mostly because they only serve burgers… a little weird but whatever.

I think people need to seriously get over themselves. Everyone is all«oh god, they replaced the old one, and it will never be the same.» «Boring 20-somethings. blah blah» Seriously? Get a life. Well, the old one went under, bankrupt. It was shut down. So… time to move the hell on! It was an empty storefront with boarded up windows, an eyesore in this nice little ‘hood. So some guys came in and bought it, turned it around, made it attractive to people that will ACTUALLYCOMESPENDMONEY. Not the kind of people that drink 25 cent beers at J&R. Sorry, that doesn’t keep you in biz. The interior is clean, the bartenders were friendly. It wasn’t too crowded, it’s not a «wrigleyville» bar. Those are all plusses. Everyone was having fun. We tried opening the window(a tad bit hot) and the owner came over and asked us to shut it because of the noise for the neighbors. I call that«courtesy» in my book. So, yes. I think its worth a shot. Its a freindly little neighborhood place that is CLEAN, comfortable and adequate. If you want a dive bar, I don’t suggest it. Or if you want to stumble down memory lane, perhaps you need to move on. Like I said. Sometimes, things gotta change. It’s life.
