Awesome bar food. Relaxed atmosphere. So much cheese on their menu it makes me happy. New neighborhood go to.

Great neighborhood bar. Cheap beers, tater tots, and even decent pizza on a weekly special. I would also check out their weekly trivia nigh for a good time outside of the normal pub trivia.

Wow!!! So awesome! Excellent service! Paulina is super friendly and awesome. She saw my boyfriend and I at a concert and remembered us which made me feel very special. Beyond the service the Mac and cheese is the bomb dot com. Add mushrooms be jalepenos.(Paulina recommended it). The portobello sandwich is also totally amazing, a lil messy but worth it. The patio is a fun place to hang out as well. Can’t wait to come back and try more stuff Also they do screenings of the walking dead and other shows /movies with free popcorn on the patio. So that’s awesome. This place kicks ass.

Great dive but shitty service. It has a decent menu and a good beer selection. The food is good for a dive and they have great specials. The server messed up our order twice and ended up buying our food, which was appropriate at least, but very annoying. I won’t be back but would recommend this dive to friends in the area.

This is a quaint little neighborhood bar. Didn’t try the food, but a lot of people were eating leading me to believe it was at least decent. Dark atmosphere but the staff is delightfully friendly with reasonable prices. Would definitely check this place out again!

Came here last night after moving a couch across town-I live nearby and it was easy. Inside it basically looks like your average dive bar, which I can’t complain about. I love a good dive. They also had pretty cheap drinks and cheap food. $ 2 Can of Hamms! Don’t come here and expect gastropub or even diner quality food. But do come here when you’re hungry, in the neighborhood, and just want some good fried food. Because if it exists, they fry it here. I had onion rings, chicken fingers, tots, fries, and a club sandwich. Nothing was spectacular or memorable, but it was still good.

Great neighborhood bar. Good bar food, specials every day– even on weekends. Not too loud and very clean and comfortable.

Since I enjoy this bar/grill so much, i won’t drag why I Love it! What I will do is share short sentences. Great food, Drink& food specials are one of the best priced in the City! Kid friendly, I go right after school early dinner they open 4pm, I’ll even wait 30 mins in the car. Patio is nice, Staff is Awesome & Owner is a class act, Joe. Last year, I notice while dining he took a group of 50 customers in a party bus to a baseball game on him, while there he invited me spontaneously, couldn’t do it but gesture was cool. HEYFOODIE’S try the BQ-Ribs & Fries 7.50(thurs.)or the $ 5-Pizza(tues), Plasma’s everywhere, sound rocks & oh yeah beer, Cheers Enjoy friends!

To begin, one star seems like I am being extremely generous. I have been to this place one before; there was good service, our waitress even took a shot with us. Excellent. On my most recent visit, I experienced a complete atrocity. I planned a birthday gathering, the woman who helped explain the wristband options was very polite and helpful. It seemed like everything would go smoothly. I arrive at 10:15pm, I immediately notice the bartender being hostile to my group of 3 male friends. 2 of those friends are business owners and I’m immediately embarrassed at how they have been treated. She is very obviously disinterested. One more small group of female friends arrive, one friend orders a drink(not a wristband) she is very clearly upset by this and responds in a very rude tone that she will grab that drink. I understand I overestimated how many people would actually purchase a wristband, it is still early and still not an excuse for the behavior. We brush this off, maybe she’s having a bad day. Maybe she will cheer up when she sees I am bringing in a large crowd, which means a lot of customers, a lot of tabs open. It’s barely 11:15pm now. While sitting at the table, my friends and I overhear the bartender saying«THEYONLYGOT2WRISTBANDS» to a fellow waitress. Again, her tone isn’t pleasant. It’s not even midnight, more than half of my party is still on its way. Again, we ignore this. I move up to the front to mingle with my friends at the bar when I hear 3 women say«They need to go»…I look back to see the women are telling this to the bartender,(they’re obviously friends). She is referring to my 4 friends whom are sitting down, talking amongst themselves. The bartender agrees to do something about it and walks away; the women notice I’ve overheard their conversation and give me very unpleasant looks. I’m instantly very self aware and realize that neither myself or my friends are welcome at this establishment. I don’t know if we were being discriminated or if there was just something they didn’t like about us. I am in complete disbelief and confusion as to why we are being treated this way. It was very early so I can vouch my entire party(including myself) was sober, non-disruptive and non-confrontational. Once those looks were done, I go table to table and kindly ask my friends to close out their tabs. They’re completely unaware of anything, but agree to leave at my request. This is done peacefully. Once we relocate I notice 2 of my friends are missing, turns out they went home after being asked to leave by the bartender. No explanation. Her review is also somewhere below. That’s a terrible story that collaborated with what I was feeling and witnessing. My entire party vacated by no later than 11:30pm and spent our money elsewhere. My night wasn’t ruined, thankfully. But this experience is so cringe worthy and I’m embarrassed to even repeat it out loud. Worst experience, easily. I hear great things about the owner himself, if you’re reading this, I really hope the bartender is disciplined. The night I speak of was Saturday 12⁄6. I live very, very close and I wish this could’ve been a regular place for me. Now I just wish I didn’t have to walk the same block to be reminded of this awful experience. I am the kind of person who builds a rapport with my bartenders and travel far if I must because I understand they make the experience that much better. Bartenders are the very core of this particular business, they are the face of your company. We all have bad days and even if you had the worst of days, you shouldn’t belittle someone who is investing in your paycheck.

Yeah, it’s about a-ok. We went a bunch of times in our quest to find a decent place with decent food and beverages moderately near home but this place never clicked with us. Service was passable, the food not so much at all, and the beverages, they’re fine enough. Things were reasonably priced which lured us back but, we started to feel like we were getting what we were paying for with the food, if you catch my drift. The interior reminds me of strip mall bars in Indiana(it’s not a diss, they just aren’t über fancy is all with the mirrors and colored lights and vinyl and slight mullet-y feel). There are kids around, sometimes past 10 pm even. Kiiindaaa weird. The girl’s potty situation is the strangest I’ve ever seen. One stall but also one toilet in the middle of the room, out in the open, next to the enclosed stall. So totally odd. Anyway, what really sank this place for us was another paper ticket incident. The bartender jacked up our tab one night including passing off a couple of the regulars’ beverages onto us and since it’s all hand written with just tick marks, what can you do? Someone we were chatting with at a later date said the same happened to him in the past. Soooo, will we be back? Eh, not so sure. I’ve suggested it to the husband a few times and he crinkled his nose.

Preface: I don’t live close, I’m in the burbs but find my way into the city to visit friends pretty often. A few of these friends live less than a block away from West on North. Due to the close proximity to where I usually crash on a couch/floor depending on the night, West on North is usually the place we end up later in the night or in the morning/afternoon for food and drinks. Out of all of the times I’ve been a patron, I’ve always been treated like a regular. The food has always surpassed my expectations, and we have always had a great time. I’ve heard from friends that it’s family owned, so that might be why is service is great and doesn’t feel like a sales pitch. I’ve seen other posts about it being empty sometimes, I hope that changes. Love this place.

This wouldn’t be a typical place that we’d visit, but seeing that we had a 40 minute wait at the nearby Rangoli restaurant, it was the closest place for us to grab a drink. It fulfilled our needs of having a place to sit and drink, keep warm, plus we could watch the latest games(that night it was basketball– Bulls vs Celtics). We’re grateful that it wasn’t crowded and helped us pass the time while our table at Rangoli was getting ready.

They have an extensive menu — and everything I’ve tried so far is great. 50 cent wings on Sundays and Monday’s(I am a chicken wing fanatic and West on North has some of the best wings I’ve had in the city). Not to mention other food specials for every day of the week. Their drinks are cheap! It can get crowded sometimes when they play hockey or football, but it isn’t ever claustrophobic. And the staff is extremely friendly! This is my favorite neighborhood bar, check it out of you live or are in the area! P. S. They have an awesome patio out back.

This is a bright spot in food and drink on a stretch of North Ave. that has nothing else happening(between Western and California). My husband and I decided to go here for brunch one morning because we felt like going out and wanted to walk somewhere in the neighborhood. Enter: West on North. I actually had no idea this place existed even though I passed it every day on my way to work for at least nine months. It’s so inconspicuous that it’s hard to notice if you pass by in a car or on the bus. This is a solid neighborhood spot, though, with cheap drinks and cheap food. They serve standard bar fare, so don’t expect much in terms of gourmet cuisine, but it’s tasty and does the job to satisfy hunger. Breakfast was standard, nothing fancy, but everything was tasty. On a Sunday morning, this place was EMPTY so there was no issue grabbing a spot at the bar and having the bartender’s full attention. I am hankering to come back on another night to sample other food and partake in their drink specials(beer is so cheap here). There’s trivia on Tuesday nights, so maybe I’ll stop by one night in the future to check it out. All in all, great neighborhood spot for a stretch of North(and a part of Humboldt) that doesn’t have anything else going on but a Subway and an auto parts store.

This neighborhood place is great! Really friendly staff. Great atmosphere and a plethora of daily specials. Oh, and trivia on Tuesdays with great prizes. I had their steak salad and it was delicious. Steak was well cooked and the veggies were fresh. Highly recommended local bar. Great patio, and not as busy as some other bars in the area. I’ll be back many more times to come!

I went here for the first time last night. Decent divey bar– works for me, I’m not too picky. The service was good, the drinks were cheap($ 35 for a night of drinking for three of us?!?), the karaōke was fun, easy street parking– I’d go again! The main reason that I’m writing this review is to comment on the women’s restroom. I walked in and burst out laughing. It’s so bizarre– there’s one toilet in a stall, and one outside of the stall next to the sink. So, basically, if I wanted to utilize the facilities while someone was in the stall, they’d be trapped in there until I was done. Very strange, but amusing at the same time.
