It is always easy to book an appointment and they always run on time. In addition to the items listed above, they have always made dealing with insurance easy!

We have one child in glasses. He got a pair at Lyons eye care last year that were bad from the get go. We were both excited to get a new pair for this school year. Wink got us in right away for an exam. Took care of filing our insurance. Even more impressive, they stayed on hold for 20 plus minutes making sure of our benefits and coverage with our insurance company. Re:eye exam The doctor was amazing! She’s great with kids! She was very thorough and on time. No waiting at all. The receptionist was very sweet. She instantly started chatting with me and helped my son decide which classes to get. Re:glasses My son is in a lot of sports and a typical boy. They took the time to show which glasses are most durable and even pulled up another kids line on the web for him to check out. He was a bit indecisive but they never got annoyed or short with him. Great location. Great staff. Quality products. Can’t get much better than that!

I love Wink Optical. Everyone that works there is extremely nice and professional. They are very prompt in responding to scheduling requests and work with my crazy schedule to accommodate me. The appointments are efficient which is also key! I wouldn’t go anywhere else in the city.

Purchased some glasses there this week. I loved Wink. I went to about 6 different stores before landing here. They have a ton of frames in a ton of colors.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Beutte. She is kind, thoughtful, and caring. She is always available to answer my questions and always thoroughly explains any necessary procedures. I wish that Brian still worked there, though. The two women who have replaced him in the front office are not as friendly or as helpful.

Loving these new frames! The staff is super helpful, organized and they have a great selection of frames for kids, ladies and gents. I stopped by when they had a mytika trunk show and loved the collection. The staff is a really professional but really personable. Dr. Beute is the kindest doctor around and really out me at ease with my ever changing eyes. Great experience, highly recommend wink(especially for kids).

The doctor is competent. However I had a terrible experience here. I came in for an exam that is always free for me through insurance. I asked to make sure that my insurance covers it. So I got the exam and was given a trial for contacts. For the exam thru charged me $ 99 that included a $ 15 Co payment that I knew I had. However no one told me about the other $ 84. They should have told me that it’ll cost me before doing the«fitting» for contacts. When I asked why I want told about this, they simply said that I don’t need to get my prescription finalized if I dint want to pay. All that is completely fair so no issues there. But what I didn’t like is that they asked me to take my trial pair out and throw in the garbage before leaving which I promptly did. I didn’t care about the trial pair but it left s really bad taste in the mouth that they would rather have me throw the trial pair in garbage before leaving than as a courtesy let me keep them which I would think is the conscientious thing to do as a doctor. That just tells me that the office cares more about money than looking out for the patient.

Dr. Beute is so lovely! She is patient, listens, answers my questions, is very professional, and really cares about my eye health. I have been her patient since before she opened Wink Optical, and although I do not live in Lincoln Park, I still choose Wink Optical for my optometry needs. Also, their staff is awesome at helping with frame selection.

Wearing glasses my whole life, I know a thing or two about eye doctors. I was semi-traumatized after my experience last year(see my review of Spex on Halsted) but knew I was ready to try again, this time, to ditch my glasses and get contacts. I learned from my mistake last year and checked Unilocal beforehand to see which eye doctor got great reviews near me. There came Wink. Being the lazy/busy gal that I am(don’t ask how I manage to be both), I checked their website and was able to make an appt online through ZocDoc. Score! I hate making unnecessary phone calls. I was a little worried that the website didn’t have a space for my insurance info(I have VSP), but I figured they can check it when I get there. I made an appt on a Saturday afternoon and showed up about 10 minutes early, a habit I’ve learned is appreciated whenever starting a new relationship with a doctor. The space looks like a really cute Lincoln Park apartment that would be located on charming Armitage st. The calming blue walls are lined with glasses(men’s styles on one side, women on the other) with a table in the middle and in the far back, the optician/registration desk. Bryan greeted me and had me fill out a basic registration form and they looked up my insurance on the spot. Now I know I am lucky because my insurance is awesome. But even if it wasn’t(like my last insurance), everyone from beginning to end was just so helpful here. I was escorted to the back and meet the doctor(a male, I forget his name, sorry!) and was seated in the examination room. They do all the standard tests and I’m out in a jiffy! It was so quick and so much smoother than the last place I went to(sorry, I can’t stop comparing). They mentioned I’d have to come back for the contact fitting and class and I’d walk out with my contacts that same day. I asked about pricing and Bryan worked with me so that the allowance my insurance gave me for the contact lenses themselves could be applied towards the exam, contact fitting, class and the lenses themselves! I didn’t have to pay a dime out of pocket! I was so ecstatic. I returned for the fitting the following week and it was, again, really quick and easy. I had done the color contact thing when it was in style about 10 years ago, so I’m not scared of touching my eyeball. The doctor was impressed and discounted the contact class, as I already knew what I was doing. Double score! He checked my eyes with the contacts in to make sure the style and brand worked for me and asked me to come back next week for a follow up to order the big supply. I seriously cannot say enough nice things about this place. Even though my interaction with the staff was brief(as they’re so good about getting me in and out quickly), I had 0 complaints. They have really great hours that work with a full-time employee and full-time grad student, such as myself. I wish all of my doctors were so effective in getting things done swiftly while being extremely professional and kind at the same time. I will definitely recommend this place to everyone I know! Thanks, Wink. I can see clearly now :)

Dr. Stacie was very professional & patient with all my questions. It had been probably 5 – 6 years since my last exam. My least favorite part of any exam is the glaucoma test(air blow) yet she made it quick and painless. I’d previously thought I had an astigmatism only in my left eye but she determined it is in both. The staff was great in helping determine what style of eyewear best fit the shape of my face. I told the young man(Bryan?) i was interested in rimless frames and decided on a pair of Humphrey’s, only bad thing was they did not have the sunglass clips. However, got some great prescription Ray-Bans that I’m complimented on all the time

My wife and I followed this team of eye care professionals to this new firm of theirs because we had such a great experience at their previous location. They have taken care of our vision health issues for nearly a decade now, on and off. I just picked up my newest frames, Bevel Deep Blue Postrios, yesterday. They’re beautiful. and they came in a week early! I really appreciate friendly, personal approach that Dr. Butte and her colleagues take. I’ve been wearing glasses for over 40 years now, and Wink is one of the best combinations of great vision care and cool styles of glasses I have ever found.

I am going through Wink withdrawals. I started a new job in July 2010, and in early November when I called to make my yearly eye exam Brian had to inform me that Wink does not accept my new plan. Doh! Rather than try to persuade me to visit out-of-network, he was understanding and helpful. He emailed me a scanned copy of my records to take to my new doctor, and he also offered to recommend a few doctors to me if I could send him a list of optometrists in-network from my insurance company. There are not many businesses out there who will be compassionate about losing business! Next year I plan to set aside enough pre-tax dollars in my FSA account to pay out-of-network so I can go back to see Dr. Beute and Brian. They’re worth it!

I have not been to the eye doctor for a few years. A friend recommended Wink so I gave it a try. The space is really nice, and I felt like my doctor(Dr. Beute) really went in depth with the exam. As it turned out I did not need new glasses, and my current prescription was fine. She did not try to upsell me anything or con me into getting new glasses, which I thought was really nice. I would recommend Wink to others and will return in year or two to see if my eyes are still working.
