wzrd has remained free form for almost three decades now, and has reinvented the idea of «bringing something new» to the chicagoland area time after time. recently a stream has been brought up, so it is easier than ever to listen from anywhere:
each dj remains anonymous, so it doesnt turn into the «insert douch-​bag-​pretentious-​hipster-​college-​student» show. also, a dj must be aware and appreciative of a wide variety of styles and genres, despite his or her personal taste.

This station plays a pretty amazing mix of everything. I’ve seen their library, and it’s huge. It would give Rob Gordon a ten foot erection. One of the requirements they have for DJs is that they’ve got to play at least three different genres during a show. Usually they wind up playing more. Occasionally some of them get a little yappy, but for the most part this a great station to listen to when in the mood for something new.

i love freeform radio. no retarded commercials. stuff you won’t hear anywhere else. no genre constraints. wzrd’s only mark against them is that some of the djs seem to like the sound of their own voice too much. and you can’t hear the station unless you’re pretty close to campus. but they’re streaming now!
