Not bad, not bad… I always see crowds huddled around the entrance in the mornings on the weekends so I figured I’d give a try to see what all the hype was about. If you’re looking for breakfast food, Yolk has got you covered. They do everything from omelettes to pancakes to benedicts to skillets so I’m sure you’ll find something you’re in the mood for no matter what the appetite. Service is prompt once you’re seated and they definitely try to keep the tables turning over to accommodate for the crowds but without feeling like you’re being rushed(def appreciated). I tried the south of the border benny which is a chorizo benedict served with sides of fruit and homestyle potatoes. Very filling and quite tasty but nothing special. If you’re looking for a breakfast spot with no gimmicks, roll on thru but be prepared to wait to grab a table especially during peak hours on the weekends. ‘Til next time, cheers!

Yolk was a perfect place for a late morning breakfast after a day of traveling. Our server was very friendly and suggested the red velvet French toast when I asked him what his favorite was. He was absolutely right, it was delicious! The serving size was huuuuge and I ended up with enough leftovers for a second meal. My husband ordered the Croque Madame and enjoyed his plate too. I stole a few of his hash browns and they were crispy and well seasoned. Coffee was also tasty, though I hate that they only have Truvia and sugar. My husband called me old because I wondered allowed if I should start carrying Splenda packets with me. If we weren’t visiting and wanting to try every breakfast spot within walking distance, I could easily see returning to Yolk on a weekly basis for some breakfast time indulgence.

There ought to be a better way to figure out tables… everyone just blocks traffic waiting for their name to be called. We waited about 20 min(not bad) on a Saturday morning. We got the south of the border benny, chicken and waffles and s’mores hot chocolate. Both entrees were big yet bland, and the s’mores hot cocoa was just loads of sugar, haha.

Exceptional breakfast in a fast friendly environment, definitely a superb spot for breakfast! So glad I chose Yolk based on Unilocal reviews as it didn’t disappoint! A great selection of breakfast choices with bold coffee and stellar service is all you get at YOLK!

Our first stop on arriving in Chicago based on the recommendations of our fellow Unilocalers, and Yolk certainly didn’t disappoint. I started the day with one of the five-egg omelets(yes, you read that right, five) — the Hey Ricky!, with avocado, chorizo, onions, jack and cheddar cheeses, and a healthy amount of jalapeños for those of you who like a little heat with your eggs. The omelet had this amazing texture, lightly done on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and even though I’ve never polished off five eggs in one sitting before, I didn’t feel weighted-down after that last bite — just amazingly satisfied, ready to start a day of sightseeing. One of my buddies had the Santa Fe frittata, which I’ll be getting next time I visit: bacon, avocado, more jalapeños, onions, potatos, and cheeses, all baked together into a fluffy skillet of yumminess. My other buddy had the West Coast crêpes, which he said tasted amazing but thought that the crêpes were a bit on the thick side; I countered that you’d need a thicker crêpe to stand up to a rather healthy-sized filling. The side order of pancakes is the way to go with any combo — better than most, and enough to share. We had to knock down one star since the coffee just isn’t that good, which is surprising for a restaurant that specializes in breakfast, and my buddy’s iced tea was met with a thumbs-down as well. Beverages aside, I wish we had breakfast places like this in DC!(That was a hint, Yolk!)

This is an amazing place. I have been trying to go to this restaurant from quite a while and finally I got the opportunity to go and try the food out. Yolk is a brunch/breakfast place. I dropped in here at around 2:00PM on a fine Saturday. The place was packed with people. We were welcomed by the waiter and immediately got a table to dine on. I ordered the all star yolk breakfast which included eggs(I took fried eggs), bacon, sausages, 2 buttermilk pancakes. The whole meal was so damn delicious. The pancakes were soft, fluffy and scrumptious. I love to pour maple syrup on the crispy bacon. It was a delight. My friend took a very healthy option — the ironman omelette with chicken. The whole omelette was made with egg whites and vegetables. I did the taste the omelette and my goodness, it was fantastic. We also took the Pot roast Benedict which was fabulous too. I enjoyed every minute at this restaurant. I would love to go here again. I recommend this place.

Yolk was our first stop after we arrived in Chicago in mid-October. I didn’t know a lot about this location except for the fact that the Unilocal reviews were very promising. I can imagine that this spot might get hectic between 7−9am as people emerge from their apartments and the subway and head to nearby offices, but we arrived in the mid-morning and were immediately seated. The restaurant is clean and modern with large windows and views of a park nearby. Service wasn’t overly friendly but was prompt, and we received our food quickly. I ordered the Tour De France, which is a flight of french toast with accompanying sides. It was a tasty and pretty plate with lots of interesting flavors. I didn’t really get«french toast» from the more cake-like bread but did thing it was a nice dish.

Un peu long j’ai trouve. Mais addition sympa(17 $ avec tip, pour les œufs, le jus d’orange et le the vert!)

Most places have a 3 egg omelet. Eggsperience has a 5 egg omelet and it is fantastic. I went in very hungry and loaded up my omelet with tons of meat and it did not disappoint. The service was quick and we got sat almost immediately on a busy Saturday morning. I’ll definitely go back the next time I am in Chicago.
