The food here comes out incredibly fast, and it is the definition of fresh flavor. I got the El Torero egg scramble with chorizo, avocado, tomato, cheese, sour cream and salsa with sourdough and potatoes on the side. I’m from out of town and everyone I know who’s from Chicago recommends Yolk so highly — and it’s with good reason. The only thing I would say is to ask for sour cream on the side — they went a little heavy on it. I also would probably skip the potatoes next time, and go for the fruit. The fruit looked really good and the eggs are so substantial that I think fruit would have provided a good balance. I’m not a pancakes person, but if you are, pancakes in lieu of toast on the side is still $ 11 which is a killer deal. Either way, I really appreciated the freshness and speed of the food at Yolk as well as the options to customize your meal with a couple of different options.

Great spot for breakfast! Pancakes were phenomenal and the Santa Fe Frittata was awesome! Also tried the Eggs Benedict– if you like your yolk runny, you need to request it as the yolk comes pretty cooked. I would definitely eat here again!

This restaurant is a very busy restaurant! The wait for all customers was about 20 to 30 minutes. However, if you use the app your wait time could potentially be shorter. The food was fresh and never lacked in taste. The fruits that come with the meal was also very fresh. Although this restaurant was busy, the service was remarkable!

Yesterday, I was in Chicago for majority of the week and decided to go to Yolk. OMG! It was one of the best breakfast I ever had. This place is a must visit! I had the CHILAQUILESVERDE House made corn tortilla chips, salsa verde, avocado, jack cheese, red onion, crema. Topped with two eggs any style |10.5 Add chorizo |1 Add chicken |2.5. I decided to get it with chorizo. First off, the portion is large and although I was full, I couldn’t stop eating. The homemade tortilla chips with egg, avocado, chorizo just melts in your mouth. I cannot wait until I’m in Chicago again. Also, the service was EXCELLENT, we sat right down, no wait and the food came out soon. There were three other people with me. Total our bill was $ 60. We all were full and happy!

The food here is pretty good, but the wait gets crazy, and the staff is not always all the organized in dealing with people. The«host stand» is just a guy standing there and directing people. I had the chilaquiles and added chorizo, and it was great. The last time I went, I had the kale & goat cheese scrambler with a side of banana pancakes, that was good but not great because the cheese was not well distributed. My boyfriend has the Santa Fe frittata and seemed to enjoy it. It was a large, individual frittata and looked yummy.

We were in town and had a not-so-hot experience at another brunch spot down the street. After looking forward to eating my way through our Chicago trip, I have to admit, I was worried that maybe The Windy City just didn’t know how to brunch. WELL friends, that was all blown away when I bit into my Croque Madam. I tried the fiancé’s chicken and waffles and loved that, as well. The coffee was also awesome! What’s not to love?! Given it was a Sunday morning, it was busy. Still, we only waited for ten to fifteen for our table and the food came out quick! Our server was attentive, polite, and sweet. Yolk, I see you have a few locations in Chicago… Why not expand out to California?! Please?

We stopped in here for a late brunch around noon on a Friday. We had no difficulty getting a table(although I’ve seen waits of over an hour on the weekends). Service was quick and friendly. I ordered the cinnamon roll french toast, which I’ve had several times and loved. The side of pork sausage was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The nutella crepes were quite good, although it took a bit of hunting to locate the nutella(the outer reaches of the crêpe didn’t have any!). Two complaints: the waffle in the fried chicken and waffles was pretty bland. It was basically a chicken delivery vehicle, and the chicken didn’t need it.(Note, the chicken is also basically a giant fried tender, not a full traditional chicken breast.) The other problem… ANTS! I repeatedly had to flick ants off our table. Honestly, that didn’t bother me very much but it’s probably not a great sign for the restaurant’s cleanliness…

I sat at the bar and ordered the homemade corn beef hash and eggs and got my eggs done over easy. This was the only thing that stood out to me here on the menu. The corn beef hash is very good and I would definitely recommend this. The hash was cooked perfectly and in nice bite sized with peppers and onions. I also got the strawberry orange juice but it was too sweet for my liking and not fresh.(It comes out of a jug). Not a bad place for brunch though.

My friends and I stopped by yolk on a Monday morning and we were seated immediately. Is it just me or does the décor remind you of an ihop but a little nicer? The service was great and the the food came out SOOO fast. We were impressed. I had the pot roast Benedict and the pot roast was so tender and delicious. I know their hollandaise sauce is something they’re known for but I thought it was kind of bland. Also the side of fruit that came with my meal was covered in it. But it was bland so I ate my cantaloupe covered in hollandaise sauce and didn’t ebb notice a difference. Make sure you order their strawberry orange juice and get a large. It’s delicious and refreshing. Also their CHILAQUILESVERDE was BOMB. I’d skip the Benedict next time and just order that.

Monday morning. First time customer. Ordered chicken and waffles. $ 15+ without drink. Chicken was so overcooked that calling it jerky would be kind. Waffles were gummy and so dry I could barely swallow them. The whole thing was SMOTHERED in so much gravy you could not see the chicken. Once I tried to eat the chicken I understood why. Waiter noticed I was not eating it. He asked me why and I told him. He apologized, and asked me if I wanted something else. I told him no because I had a time limitation. He then presented me with the check… I asked him if I really had to pay for something that I did not eat because it was inedible. Then I received the«let me get my manager». Manager decided that I didn’t have to pay. What a relief… I’m writing this in my Über as I go back to my apartment. This was 45 minutes of my life that I’ll never get back. Avoid.

Visited this place for breakfast while in Chicago and it was delicious. We arrived around 11am, and was told there was a hour and a half wait as it was people out to the street waiting! Luckily, our hotel was right down the street so we put our name on the list and then went back to the hotel. This was fine since they send you a text when your table is ready. I chose the Pancake all-star and everything was good. The other people in my party enjoyed their food as well. They weren’t too pricey, which was good for the quality of food that you get here. They have an option to ‘upgrade’ to 100% pure maple syrup instead of the high fructose corn syrup stuff for $ 2. I can see why they get slammed.

I went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The wait time was an hour and a half. Since the place is so popular, I thought the food would be AMAZINGGGGG! Eh, not so much. It was okay, but it didn’t stand out. I ordered an iced coffee and their version of the all-star special. The waitress asked me if I wanted 100% maple syrup with my waffle. Sure — why not? I had no idea it was a $ 2 up-charge until receiving my bill. I didn’t have a problem paying the additional fee, but it would have been nice to know upfront. My meal was meh and kind of cold. I ordered my eggs fried medium — they were super runny. My bacon wasn’t crispy. My waffle was delicious, but everything else — meh. I’m not sure if I’d try this place again.

Probably my favorite breakfast in Chicago. I loved this place and can’t wait to go back. We went on a sunny Sunday morning and there was a bit of a wait but it was nice so sitting outside was fine. Once we were seated our waitress was very on point with drinks and taking our orders. I opted for the California Omelette which I will highly recommend right now. It was made perfectly and was very flavorful. I’d be hard pressed not to order it again. Potatoes came with it and I requested a side of hollandaise sauce because I am a bit of a sauce nut. It complimented the potatoes well. I thought this place was awesome. The décor was bright and colorful and made you feel happy to be there. The service was fast and friendly and food quality was excellent. And the prices weren’t out of this world. Definitely suggest checking it out.

Whenever I have a serious craving for brunch, Yolk is always there for me. It is well known that brunch-type restaurants tend to get insanely crowded during the weekends(like the eternal 2+ hour wait at Wildberry). Yolk definitely has more customers coming in during the weekend, but the line here moves pretty quickly so you will not be waiting a ridiculous amount of time before you eat. The menu here has a decent selection but I found myself getting tired of it after the tenth visit…(no wonder). I usually order the Nutty Monkey Cakes because I love peanut butter and pancakes. This time, I also ordered the corned beef hash, which I thought was actually not that great. The beef tasted a little bit sour which made the dish hard to eat. Also, the server got my order wrong and gave me scrambled eggs instead of sunny-side up :(. If you have a very strong desire to eat brunch and cannot bother to wait in long lines, I would recommend Yolk.

Yolk is one of the closest brunch spots to me, so I have eaten here a few times but then also ordered carry-out in order to avoid the crazy lines.(On weekends, there are generally huge numbers of people waiting both inside and outside for their tables). My prior experiences here have probably been around the 3.5-star mark: The food is good, the service is fine, and the atmosphere, albeit nothing special, is clean and friendly. This morning, however, my experience wasn’t so great… 11:02AM: I ordered carry-out on the phone and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes. 11:15AM: I arrived at Yolk to pick up my carry-out, which was not yet ready. 11:25AM: I checked with the host to see where my food was; I was told it would be ready in 5 – 10 minutes. Umm??? 11:32AM: I finally received my food! I’m not sure what the problem was, but needless to say, it was not an ideal situation to be waiting in their crowded lobby for almost 20 extra minutes, for food that was supposed to have been made within 10 minutes originally. Hopefully Yolk can remedy this issue!

Yolk is brunch for everyone. Walking in, you will get a sense that you walked into a diner rather than a brunch establishment. It’s busy. Very busy. If you come at the wrong time, your wait might be longer than what you would want to wait for pancakes, french toast, or greasy meats. Thankfully, Yolk has a decent sized waiting area so even in colder weather you won’t find yourself stranded outside. The service is friendly and fast. It’s amazing how many dishes they churn out with the number of customers they have. This is the kind of place I would take my out of town friends but not my significant other. It’s just a little bit too noisy but you will get your food pretty quickly. The menu is expansive and the portions are large. If you choose a «side» of pancakes with your meal, you will feel like you ordered two meals. This was my second time at Yolk and food quality is good. The food presentation is good and even surprisingly artistic(see South Beach pic). But I find their item menus to sound much better than the actual taste. Yolk will satisfy your much needed brunch fix but it won’t wow you. Yolk is a solid 4 star brunch place. It’s menu selection and food quantity will help propel it to be a local’s favorite in many areas. It’s the go-to place when you want to get your money’s worth. It just won’t be THE brunch place to go to.

We love the Yolk. I am just now writing a review after eating at the yolk 4 – 5 times. we’ve had dine in and carry out. The servers are always great with great personalities, very personable and on top of things. We’ve had the omelets, french toast, apple blintzes, and red velvet french toast. All are excellent. They give you a lot of food. Oh and the pancakes! Its worth the upgrade to the pure maple syrup!!! Great place.

This was a classically decent brunch spot, but it didn’t blow me away. It was really packed when we were there, but I wasn’t totally sure why. The menu wasn’t anything too creative but the food was good. The eggs Benedict was good and the cinnamon roll was a little dry. For what you get, I thought it was a little overpriced.

Came here on a Saturday around 1ish for brunch. There were a few people waiting for a table, but my friend and I decided to sit at the bar so we were seated right away. I’d say this place is pretty similar to Wildberry, although not quite the same since the menu items vary a little bit. I ordered the Caprese Benedict and added bacon. I liked this creative twist on a classic, and thought the pesto especially added a nice touch. The flavors of the mozzarella weren’t as strong as I would have liked, and I think the dish could have done better if they switched the english muffin for something a little more ‘Italian inspired.’ However, it was pretty tasty overall, and the portions here are huge for the price(only $ 12.49!). If the wait at Wildberry is looking a little too long, I’d definitely suggest this place as a pretty decent alternative.

3.5 I mean this in the nicest way possible but Yolk to me is like a high-end IHOP. While the food at this chain is slightly above average, the vastness of the menu was more impressive than the quality of my meal. It seems that I am in the minority as Yolk was voted best breakfast in Chicago. Also, it was ridiculously packed during my visit. Wait time was an hour! As I said earlier, that menu is rather extensive and there is something for everyone. For those with a sweet tooth, Yolk offers a variety of pancakes, waffles, crepes, and french toasts. Luckily for me, they focus more on savory items such as omelets, benedicts, scramblers, skillets, and a myriad of specialty options. I opted for a scrambler with a side of fresh fruit and an english muffin.( ). Mine had turkey sausage, spinach, and mushrooms. I really appreciate that they will use egg substitute upon request without any additional charge. It was just ok but the turkey sausage seemed like some generic jimmy dean breakfast item. I also had a bite of Christina C’s Irish Bennedict( ). It had corned beef hash and roasted tomatoes. Not bad at all. I enjoyed it more than my own order. My other friend ordered a skillet. Normally, this guy can pack away food but he barely got through half of the order. That skillet was so heavy that he couldn’t even look at the side of pancakes… that poor soul haha. Be prepared to share if you decide to go this route. Fresh strawberry orange juice was a hit with us! Definitely check that out. I think my favorite part of this restaurant was the location. It was around the corner from my hotel, down the street from the train station and a short walk from the museums and other attractions. Overall, Yolk is a decent choice but there is one other breakfast spot in the area I’d rather go.

What bad could I say about this Yolk? Great food, great ambience, great people. The California omelette(with garlic) is my fave. I’ve tried a few different meals, and all of them have been good. You can’t really go wrong with much here. You may have to wait depending on what time it is on the weekends, but it’s usually never too long, no more than 20 minutes.

Was in Chicago for a conference and wanted something tasty and local for breakfast. Yolk was recommended and I decided to try it even though it was a chain. A short drive(or 30 minute walk) from that Hyatt Regency. It was busy, definitely the popular breakfast joint.(I went on a Sunday). Was able to sit immediately at the bar. Quick and friendly service. Ordered the nutty monkey pancakes. Could only eat half, it’s a lot for one person. Delicious!

We ate here two days in a row. The first day I had an omelet called Hey Ricky. It was so delicious and perfectly fluffy. It came with tasty red diced potatoes and toast. I also ordered a pumpkin latte that came in a very tiny glass and cost over $ 4. I do not recommend the latte since the flavor was ordinary and the value was horrendous. My bf had the seasonal sweet potato hash. He loved it. It was a little on the sweet side for me because the potatoes were tossed in a maple glaze. It was still very good though. Day two was not as impressive. We both ordered the corned beef hash that looked and tasted like it came out of a can. My toast was so burnt it was black on both sides. I would consider going again but stick with the omelets or egg dishes. The vibe was cool and the waitresses were quite friendly.

Delicious!!! I’ve had this place on my list of breakfast spots to try for a long time. Finally, I got my opportunity during my vacation week. I was a little skeptical because their is no parking, however we had no problem finding a spot on the street. We were seated right away. The waitress wasn’t that friendly, but I didn’t let it get to me. I had the Eggs Benedict, which was my first time and it was fabulous! Hubz had the bacon waffle which he complained they were stingy with the bacon, but otherwise it was tasty. I will definitely return to try out more menu items.

This is the cutest little breakfast/brunch place I have ever seen. The vibrant yellow and blue just makes you feel like you’re in a fun place. The Yolk logo is so darn cute and the little fried egg inside the building is overly adorable. I just loved the color scheme here! It even goes all the way into the bathroom! There are a lot of people coming in and out and it’s a little confusing as to what you’re supposed to. You wait and then you will be seated shortly. The menu is filled with so many different things that it’ll be so hard to choose which one to get. But when I saw the very berry french toast, I knew that it was calling for me. The portion sizes are big here and I barely even made a dent in mine. The french toast came with five pieces of half toast smothered in honey, yogurt, granola and berry explosion. There were blackberries, blueberries and strawberries everywhere. I think I made it through about 2.5 pieces of half slices before I caved in. The pieces of toast are buttered and so fluffy on the inside. They don’t get soggy, which I love. The yogurt has a nice tartness that balances the sweetness from the honey and berries. Berries are really fresh and in season! I loved it berry much! My friend got the chicken and waffles and I was surprised by how big it was. The waffle is so fluffy and has pieces of bacon scattered throughout. The pieces of chicken are tender and perfectly crisp on the outside. I think it could have used a little bit more gravy, but it was decent enough to get through the entire dish. Who knew that chicken, gravy, waffles and syrup could make such an awesome combination?! My friend also ordered a side of potato hash which came out well seasoned and nicely cooked. Our server was friendly and did check up on us here and there. Our water was refilled promptly. We were just slightly confused as to how we pay since many people were coming up to the register(you can order takeout which a lot of people do). The server will bring you your check which you then bring up to the register to pay. Most of the dishes here range from $ 10 – 15 depending on what you get. The portion size is very generous, I could have definitely shared. Overall, it’s a perfect little brunch place. The place is clean and I couldn’t stop looking at that adorable fried egg on the wall!

We dined here every morning for breakfast during our three day visit to Chicago and loved it. The people working here from Kevan, Sophia to Lana were all very nice, helpful and on the ball taking great care of my wife’s and my dining needs. I found all the dishes we chose to be made with fresh ingredients, wonderful flavors and great presentation. My first day I selected the Tour de France from the sweet side of the menu. It was three different varieties of their French Toast including banana with peanut butter, orange bread with strawberries and lemon poppy seed with blueberries. I enjoyed all three but the poppy seed was my favorite. Day two I flipped to the savory side of their menu and chose a hearty Santa Fe frittata. It turned out to be huge and I was unable to polish it off. I enjoyed this dish as well with a good bit of spiciness to it. The last day I went old school and just picked their scrambled eggs with bacon and wheat toast. This dish too was yummy and well prepared. The eggs weren’t to dry or runny but just right. They have a nice variety of juices to pair up with your breakfast. I stuck with OJ but one time I got a strawberry OJ mix that was a nice change. Their bacon is thick and meaty and not cooked too crisp just the way I prefer. Plenty of tables and booths to seat everyone are available without a wait during the week at least. I found their prices a tad on the high side but well worth it in terms of the quality and quantity of food served. We will definitely return on a future visit to Chicago.

Delicious breakfast spot in Chicago! Only downside is the long lines and wait on the weekends, but it was worth waking up early to make the line and get a table within 30 – 40 minutes. Yolk was one of the top restaurants on my to-go list during my first visit to Chicago; mainly for their Red Velvet French Toast. We were a large group of friends so we each got something different and were able to try a little bit of everything. I have to say that my favorite dishes were the Banana nut bread with bananas & peanut butter and the Red Velvet French Toast. On the savory side, I really enjoyed their Pot Roast Benedict.
