I was skeptical about a soup restaurant but boy was I wrong! Good soup and friendly service which always goes far in my book. A good and reasonably priced lunch option for those working in or visiting the loop.

When you walk in, it looks like it might be set-up like a Chipotle with the options on display for you to choose from and customize your meal. This is not the case. The only thing you can see are the soups, but that’s okay because they offer free samples of the soup before you place your order at the cash register. And everyone loves a free sample, right?! I decided to go with the combo — Soup and Sandwich. For the price, I absolutely recommend this option. The soup I had(Shrimp and Asparagus with Dill) was creamy and delicious! And the Turkey Club sandwich was larger than I would have expected for a combo meal, which was a nice surprise(not to mention, delicious). I’ll definitely be going back again, especially during the winter when I crave warm and satisfying soups. :)

Pros: +Great Soup +Fresh Cons: –Price –Portion Sizes I’ve been a fan of Zoup forever and I’ve dined at many of the other locations. The soups here are always fresh and delicious and the varieties are rotated so you never get bored. You can sample any of the soups to see what you like. The Lobster bisque here is one of the best soups I have ever had, hands down. I recommend getting the bread toasted for maximum indulgence. The salads and sandwiches however are underwhelming in size, an option to make them larger in the combos should be given. I’m usually not near full after eating one combo but it’s nice for a light lunch.

Mullgatawney. It’s amazing. Unfortunately, it’s not there every day. Some of their other soups are great, some of them are just ok. I havent tried one yet that i didn’t like. But, for soup, it’s pretty expensive. The sandwiches are small, and pretty basic. But it’s the soup you want anyway.

A Panera-like experience, but at least they allow you to have a few tastes in the winding line before ordering. Soups are not special, but good enough for a cold day. Packed, so maybe I just ordered poorly. Will likely not return.

The soup was just okay. The bread was cold and bland. Also, they don’t differentiate to-go and eat-in orders at lunch, and give everyone a full set of plastic and out order in a paper bag. Maybe it’s because I’m from the land of bag fees, but this seemed expensive for them and, well, wasteful for me.

The soup and bread were both flavorful and filling. I just don’t like having to pay that much for soup. I had the Beef Barley with Sourdough bread.

The good thing about Zoup! is they have more than the usual assortment of soup choices and the staff is nice about letting you try the soups. The bad things about Zoup! are that salt levels can vary a great deal from soup to soup and the prepacked salads were already starting to get limp around 11:45am. The water from the soda machine also tastes dirty. Not somewhere I would go to get lunch unless someone else wanted to go.

Lobster bisque!!! Nothing else should be said! The soup was very creamy and flavorful. I’d almost wished I’d gotten a larger size. I did the trytwo combo and paired it with the tomato, mozzarella & basil sandwich. I love cheese. …a lot and this sandwich made my day. It was also drizzled with a very good balsamic vinaigrette. Thought a tad pricey(my total was like $ 10 bucks), I’d definitely come back. The portions were just enough so I didn’t feel stuffed and gross after I ate. Zoup, you’ve won me over!

This place is amazing! I ordered the Try-Two combo consisting of a cup of turkey chili and the vegetarian wrap w/guac for just under $ 10. The wrap was pretty big and had alot of flavor to it– I’m a meat eater and I found this to be quite filling. The turkey chili was well-made and the chili I was craving totally hit the spot!

I really love soup. This place gives me a chance to order more than one soup at one meal and not feel weird about it. It’s good too though I mean that’s the whole point

A good place for lunch. Hot rice chili rice crab is the best to serve with bread bowel. Made me day!

Disappointing… I’ve been here twice both times ordering a different vegetarian soup, I haven’t tried any of their sandwiches. Each soup has a weird strong mint(? or something similar) flavor. They are expensive for what it is, $ 4 for a small side of soup, c’mon. Bread is decent though. Salad is ok but if you want salad as your main meal, I would go somewhere else.

Ordered the lobster bisque which was very creamy and savory. I’ve sampled several other soups they offer and all of them were very rich in flavor. I also ordered the pesto 3-cheese sandwich which was very simple but contained quite a bit of flavor. Zoup! is worth a visit if you’re in the mood for a savory eat.

Worst ordering system I’ve come across. Add more staff to take orders.

This place was pretty fantastic. It was a hot day so you know that’s how much I love soup. It had a great selection of what I love best, soups! Probably had at least a dozen ready made soups, yours for the trying. I tried the chicken and dumpling and lobster bisque. After the small samplings, I decided to go with the lobster bisque. It was so creamy with a tinge of sherry, and the lobster was plentiful, delicate and sweet. I got the cup of soup with a half of a Southwest turkey. The Southwestern turkey sandwich was great too, melty, cheesy and perfect accompainment. You can also get some good looking sandwiches. But the real star of this place is the soups. The place is small and fills up pretty quickly but we were able to grab a table. And the staff was very pleasant and quick even though it got busy. I would definitely come here to try more delicious soups.

I was in Chicago in mid-December 2014 on my way back from NY! I had forgotten what this place was called until I had time today to write some reviews and this came up!!! First — Lobster Bisque — the best I have ever had! It was SOOOOO good, I am still looking something remotely close here in San Diego. I had a half sandwich of something, obviously only okay as I don’t remember the sandwich at all… Second — Lobster Bisque! I know I said that already, but it was really that good.

If Zoup soup didn’t cost $ 6.50 for a bowl of soup + a small baguette, I’d give them 4 stars. Zoup has tons of options, there is something for everyone… and it’s more than just soup, they have sandwiches & salads as well. A big bonus is that they let you taste-test the soups, so you can get something you know you’ll like. I love the chicken pot pie soup, it’s so creamy & great on a cold day. Overall the soup is pretty good, but I just can’t justify broth mixed with veggies/chicken costing so much. I also wish the baguettes were better(crustier or something, it’s kind of like getting a chunk of white sandwich bread). Zoup will do in a pinch, but if I have my choice I’d pick Soupbox or Au Bön Pain first.

Customer service needs some improvement. I placed my order online(so convenient!) and showed up a few minutes before my designated time to pick it up. I stood in front of the area where you can pick up your online order and waited. The woman distributing the orders did not even bother to look at me. Another employee walked by to take some bread out of the oven. He looked at me, but did not acknowledge me. I *see* you, but you no *see* me?! What the heck. Could she not hear the growling of my hungry tummy? Perhaps she didn’t see me since I was off to the side and she was laser focused on the people standing in front of her? Who knows. I seriously worried for a split second that she was going to say, «No soup for you!» That, or tell me that my order failed to go through and banish me to the back of the line to wait it out with the rest of the hungry Loop worker bees. Said woman called out two orders before I called her attention and politely informed her that I was picking up an online order. She gave it to me sans attitude, which I appreciated, and I was on my merry way. Nonetheless, she should have acknowledged me in the first place. That’s just standard. I tried the chicken dumpling soup, which tasted pretty good, but was nothing to write home about, unfortunately. An 8oz side will set you back $ 4.70 with tax so a tad bit pricey for soup, but eh, you’re in Chicago and in the Loop. Prices are comparable to others in the area. The sourdough bread made it for me, and I enjoyed dipping it into the soup. I’ve also tried the tomato basil, but that was months ago so I can’t comment on it. Despite the little snafu, I will be back. I’m a big soup lover, especially when it’s cold out. Also, they let you try before you buy, which is a big plus. Though, I highly recommend placing your order online so you can skip the hassle with waiting in the line.

I’d give it a solid 4 stars based on quality of ingredients and taste. That’s paired with the standard that this is «fast food» and under $ 10. Can’t complain too much. They’re more than happy to sample soups– which is nice, since the first couple weren’t quite as I’d imagined. Good flavor and not overly salty compared to other restaurants like this. Do have to critique the sandwiches as being very… Bready… Just too much bread to stuff. And for something called, «Toscana», I can’t say it had much distinct flavor. Given a choice between this and the like choices(P@nera or Corner B@kery), I’d choose Zoup. Much better quality.
