I loved Café Coda. I went on a Sunday for brunch and although the line was long it was well worth it. I usually stay less than a block away and had no idea this place existed. They had vegan options and bottomless mimosas. The servers was polite and did everything possible to ensure we had a lovely time.

Good food, bad service. I had the bacon arugula sand which and my sister ordered the chicken pesto. The food was delicious but our server didn’t check on us, didn’t deliver food or water, literally just rang the order in and dropped off the check. From one server to another, yikes. I don’t feel it sometimes either but sometimes you just gotta fake it girl.

Love love love the breakfast food but gosh the restaurant is small which usually means terrible wait times on the weekends. If it weren’t for the wait(sometimes an hour!) I’d give it 5 stars. At least they serve you coffee while you wait

I came here for brunch with a group of 7. There wasn’t much of a wait on a Sunday, surprisingly. I ordered the little donkey which was decent but lacked salt. MB, H, and C ordered the coffee which they claim to be strong and pretty decent. Otherwise, it’s a nice, cozy spot for brunch. There’s also plenty of street parking.

First time and not the last! The service was great, the special of the day was actually special and Alex, my waiter was very friendly! The food is amazing and the service was awesome plain and simple. A must!

I love this place! Real food with quality ingredients that I always feel good about eating. My husband and I eat here almost every weekend. Awesome vibe and great prices.

Maybe not the best place if you’re in a hurry on the weekend… Unless of course you are there for the bottomless mimosa of Sunday. Great food, nice ambiance at a reasonable price. They’re coffee is like rocket fuel. I don’t think I’ve had anything bad there; but I am a huge fan of the El Stupindo & Benedict:)

two stars because the coffee is good and my eggs were exactly as i requested(over hard, yoke broken, crispy around the edges). But I won’t be back. The sausage in the chicken sausage hash was not raw, but not sautéed like the potatoes — barely warm grey sausage is not appetizing. No one in the group was impressed with the food. I suggest Café Coda hires cooks who can put flavor on the plate. I don’t understand why this place is popular.

Great ambiance, great menu, great service. Just great! Came here randomly on a friday late morning. Walked in to a live jazz band, and some seriously yummy food. Flavors were real and delicious, prices were very reasonable as well. Parking out front can be kinda tricky, but I think they have a lot in the back. Definitely recommended.

I don’t really have anything bad to say about Coda except sometimes they are too busy and it’s a long wait to get in. But that’s not even bad, really. I give them props for that. I do want to say that their tofu veggie scramble is the shit. I love their potatoes(no cheese) on the side, too. Vegans love this place for sure. Also, I’m so glad they got someone to specifically make the coffee. It’s much more streamlined if you want some coffee to go, and the guy’s got talent. I’m never disappointed with my latte, and he’s always friendly, too. The staff are always working hard and they are super busy but manage to keep a smile on their faces.

Delicious! Decided to come here due to the Unilocal reviews. They’re super busy on Saturday morning(as expected), but our wait for a table was short. We had a decaf coffee, wild orchid tea, chile quiles and the breakfast burrito with sausage. Everything was so good, no complaints at all!

My favorite breakfast place in Chico. Nothing comparable, in my opinion. The atmosphere is amazing. The owners have small children so they are kid friendly. They play interesting music and the food is amazing! If I had to pick one thing that I do not like about this place is that they do not offer hash browns. I love café coda!

We finally tried Café Coda… what a great treat! Love the fresh press coffee on the table. And the food is awesome. Get there early on the weekends, there will be a wait.

great place with good, strong coffee served in a personal, insulated french press which is pretty cool and unique. Really yummy walnut pancakes which are huge! also had the eggs florentine and it went excellent with the chewy, flavorful focaccia bread it’s served with. definitely recommend this place for a great and very filling breakfast.

Came here for brunch on a Friday, still had a wait even though it was during the week. But they had a couple of side waiting areas so we didn’t have to stand in the middle of everything. The wait wasn’t too long and once seated we got mimosas and coffee. The first mimosa was 50⁄50 the second the waitress was more generous with the champagne which I appreciated. They weren’t bottomless but it looked like they do those on sat/sun. It was on happy hour though for the morning. The coffee was strong, straight from the French press. I ordered the lemon poppyseed pancakes and they were delicious not too sweet. The other people I was with ordered potato egg planters of some variety and everyone enjoyed what they got. The server was great at continually checking in and making sure we had what we need. The place overall is slightly chaotic but it’s got a good vibe. They have shows here as well and the friend I was with said they tend to bring in great music and with the bar right there it’s a nice little setup.

On a rainy Sunday in Chico, my girlfriend and I decided to get breakfast at Café Coda. When we arrived, we were told that the wait would be about 30 minutes. This seemed strange to us as there were five empty tables(we counted) in the restaurant. There were several groups standing outside, but only about one got called in every few minutes. It’s like they were artificially trying to create a wait list so that they would seem like a popular brunch place. I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt and say they could have been understaffed, but once we were seated(after 40 minutes of waiting), it was clear that they had plenty of people working. After waiting another 10 minutes, our server came to take our drink orders, so we ordered our food then as well. My girlfriend ordered the eggs blackstone. While I am a fan of replacing the ham in an eggs benedict with bacon, I think they made a few unnecessary changes as well. They replaced the English muffin with focaccia bread which was definitely a step down as you lose the crispness of the toasted muffin. Also, they didn’t use hollandaise sauce(I think they opted for a bearnaise). Whatever sauce they used was bland and didn’t really contribute to the flavor of the eggs. What really sunk the dish though was the poached egg. It was way overcooked. When she cut into the egg, the yolk didn’t slowly ooze out like it should. It was almost solid and remained within the egg whites. I ordered the breakfast burrito which was definitely an improvement over the eggs blackstone. That’s not saying much though. It’s hard to mess up scrambled eggs, bacon, avocado, sour cream, and salsa. The food definitely was not worth the long wait. Lastly, the choice of «Coda» in the name doesn’t really make sense to me. The coda is the end of a piece, so it seems like it would work for a café open late and not one that specializes in breakfast. That’s just my opinion though. This place is definitely going for the«cool» brunch place vibe. They don’t really have the food to back it up though.

The food is GREAT I just hope they do delivery because the service is awful. Sometimes it takes a while to get a table but I would wait as long as needed for their delicious breakfast. Coffee comes in a French press for each table, also very delicious. But, that wait staff. I have been there a handful of time and have never felt like I got good service. We have to ask serval time for basic things like water, refills and so on. I always feel like my presence is inconveniencing them. They have never been outwardly rude or rolled their eyes but I feel like that is what they are doing when the turn their backs, it’s just the vibe they give. I get it, it’s morning, your tired, I’m tired, everyone is tired but I’m not looking for smiling faces or witty banter just basic service, my drinks refilled, and to be made to feel welcome. The food though is soooo good!

Absolutely loved the food here! I was in Chico for a Roller Derby bout and we stopped here for breakfast before we headed back home. I ordered The Monk(Jasmine Rice, Eggs, and chives(there is a meat option available). The dish was reasonably priced for the quality and portion. The rice was well made – not too squishy or hard – a perfect al dente. The presentation of the dish was also lovely. We had french pressed coffee accompany our meal and the quality of the coffee was pleasing. I also got to try their homemade marmalade, which was fresh and balanced in flavor. We wanted to buy some to take home! The service was amazing – our waiter was very attentive and made sure that we had everything we needed. So far extremely happy with the experience and would definitely eat there again if I’m ever in Chico.

DELICIOUSFOOD!!! A little on the hipster side, but oh so so very good! The food not only looks amazing, but tastes amazing! Their service is great too. Be sure to know that you have to ask for water or they won’t give it to you.
