While the atmosphere was great and the stylists friendly, I have never had a color job turn out this horrible. It’s patchy, washed out fresh out of the salon, and I’d have gotten better results at home with kool-​aid. I’m now having to go elsewhere and spend more money to correct my hair before my wedding this weekend.

Moving back to Chico from LA and New York I was sad about leaving my favorite stylists and trying to find a new one — I’m so, so glad I found Stephanie here! Best color and cut I’ve ever had, every time. Now my sister literally schedules her trips from NYC to get an appt with Stephanie too (and, my mom is a regular). Can’t say enough amazing things about this place and Stephanie is just the best.

I made an appointment with Haley to make my current pink hair into a dark green color. Haley spent hours working on my hair trying to take the pink out and didn’t give up until she was able to! She then put in my new color, unfortunately it wasn’t the color I wanted. She made my hair color a more teal color than the dark green that I wanted. I got into contact with her and she replied quickly asking to see the pictures of the hair I wanted in the first place then said she would be able to achieve it and that she was sorry that she didn’t get it right the first time. So she had me come back when she was free to do my hair and redyed it, achieving the color that I originally wanted! Now my hair is a gorgeous dark green and I love it! Thanks Haley!

Haley is absolutely my go-​to hairstylist because she’s talented, creative, and gives you the kind of cut you ask for. Today, I received my 3^rd cut with Haley. She helped brainstorm a hairstyle that really suits my style, shapes my bangs, and has a faded angle on the nape of my neck. something I was eager to try! The result is perfect, and I am beyond thrilled. Definitely my favorite cut of my 20s !

I moved to Chico a couple months ago and was paired with Travis when I called in. Tomorrow will be my third appointment with him. he took me from black to a bright purple! I love my hair and get lots of compliments on the color. And Travis is awesome, super nice! Would highly recommend

I usually like to wait a few days until I decide if I really like the haircut– and I LOVE it! I called the salon and got an appointment same day. Stephanie was very sweet over the phone and even sweeter in person. I showed her a few reference photos and she knew exactly what I wanted and even worked the cut to suite my face shape. I felt very comfortable which is important to me. I know that I’m the only one who needs to like it but it doesn’t hurt I got at least 10 compliments on the new style! I’ll definitely be coming back to Stephanie!!!

I’m so very impressed with what Haley has accomplished with my hair in the two visits I’ve had with her! On my first visit, I told Haley that I wanted to go from having a deep red a-​line to having a platinum blonde pixie — and a very specific pixie cut at that. I knew that I was giving her a huge challenge by asking for such an extreme color change. More than one friend had warned me that going from red to blonde was a guaranteed disaster, citing memories of people they knew trying it in the past and failing miserably, coming out with bright orange hair time after time. Keeping these warnings in mind, I showed up to my first visit with Haley, explained what I wanted, and expected to have to come in oodles of times to get my desired color result. This was not to be — Haley was a miracle-​worker! By the end of the first visit, I had the exact pixie cut I had asked for, and I was an adorable light strawberry blonde that did not at all look like an awkward” transition phase” color — in fact I got compliments every day by strangers and friends on the color of my hair. Also, by the end of the first visit, she was able to get me booked as quickly as six days later so that she could finish getting me to the blonde I wanted so badly. And what a gorgeous blonde it was, with my dream realized at only the second visit! She far exceeded my expectations, not to mention that of all of my friends. I get multiple compliments every day on my hair now and feel like a fabulous new woman.
What awesome service! Haley is so accommodating, friendly, professional, and oh-​so-​talented! Super-​human in her capabilities with hair, really. She has earned my undying trust when it comes to my need for a stylist to understand what I want with my hair. She is a wonderful person to chat and giggle with as she sculpts your hair into a work of art. I highly recommend this lady to anyone with an artistic vision for their next look.

I recently got my hair cut by Travis and I absolutely love it. He was extremely easy to talk to and is obviously very knowledgeable about his field. I booked another appointment for coloring and he listened to what I wanted and even made some professional suggestions about what he thought I should do. I can’t wait to go back and have another wonderful transformation from Travis! I would recommend him to anyone that isn’t satisfied with their hair and wants to be amazed!

This is my third time here at the Color Bar, and it has yet to disappoint! Travis not only does amazing color/​cuts, but also creates a fun atmosphere where you can laugh and relax. I am a Chico local and would definitely recommend Travis and the Color Bar to anybody looking for a one time trim, or full time stylist.

Haley Dilley did my hair and it turned out sooo pretty! I had it done originally from red to blonde and she got it to platinum. Great cut as well! Would highly recommend for blondes who are looking for a healthy, beautiful cut and color :)

Aw, I’m really sad this didn’t work out like I thought it would. This time I thought I did everything right and not only researched for a salon with great reviews, but a stylist with great reviews as well. Not one person who reviewed Travis had anything bad to say about him, so I thought I’d finally found my hairstylist for life. I enjoyed my appointment with him, he was really clearly into his profession and I appreciated his honestly with me about my hair and what it needed. He took all the heavy and fried stuff off from my past highlights and left me with a gorgeous, light and airy long bob that I loved and felt amazing in. Plus the products he used smelled ah-​mazinggg and I couldn’t stop smelling my hair. I went out of town the next day for a few weeks, and while I was gone I noticed my hair was slightly longer on one side in the back, just a slight annoyance but I wanted it fixed. I text him at the number he gave me as soon as I got back into town, asking if he could squeeze me in to even it out. He replied asking for my schedule, which I wrote him back with, and I never heard anything else. I even gave him a few days thinking there could have been something personal that came up or maybe he just forgot, but when I text him again to check up on getting squeezed in I still never got a reply back. I’m really bummed but I guess I have to start my search for a new stylist yet again :(
Update: It was worse than I thought. Thankfully I was able to find someone who knew what they were doing to fix it… not only was it half an inch off on one side, but the layers were uneven and the overall shape was not at all thought out. I found my stylist for life and its not at this salon.

I adore this place & recommend Lisa! When I called to make an appointment for my girlfriend and I they were so sweet on the phone and open to working with my school schedule to get me in as soon as possible! When we arrived they automatically offer you wine or water. The vibes are so welcoming and amazing. LISA is my girl! I showed her a picture of exactly what I wanted my hair to look like and she just took it to a whole new level. She made it look better than the photo! I hadn’t cut my hair for FOUR YEARS STRAIGHT and Lisa gave me the perfect length and got rid of all my dead ends. My hair is healthy and stylish. She takes her time and gives you a good head massage while washing your hair (probably my favorite part lol) at the end she even curled it to make me look even more fabulous. I love this place, I love lisa!!! Thank you!!!

Unfortunately I must update my review to reflect the current state of my hair which is not great. Shortly after getting my hair done the color turned brassy and looked as if nothing had been done! I went back in to have it fixed and Lisa went ahead and rebleached it– not good. She didn’t use a toner either time which I’m sure is the reason it has gone back to being brassy again. She insisted the reason for this was me «being out in the sun». Great I’ll just wear a burka from now on. She also charged me for fixing it!
Overall not impressed, and now I’m out ~$ 160 and still don’t have what I asked for. Guess I’ll be paying even more to have it fixed– although this time at a professional salon. Obviously can’t speak for the rest of the stylists here, but my advice would be to proceed with caution.

I just want to say that Travis did an amazing job on my hair. As a new resident to Chico, I decided to try him out purely based on Unilocal reviews and a few pictures. I had some previously bad experiences at the last couple of salons I visited, and was nervous about attempting another hair stylist.
He not only worked with me until I was completely happy with what I wanted, he was very knowledgeable and friendly; Pricing was reasonable as well! He blended my dark hair into a beautiful silver and I love it. Definitely coming back — actually, already scheduled another appointment! :)

Stephanie is my girl! She is honestly the best in Chico. I’m so sad it took me until my senior year to find her! She is so creative if you don’t know exactly what to do. She’s easy to talk to and messages a little extra then others. I still look back at old pictures of when I went to Chico and I miss Stephanie! I’m in LA and haven’t found anyone like her … Unless I’m trying to pay a $$$$. Go to Stephanie … I can’t even count how many times she’s done my hair and I’ve been in love each time! Also complimentary wine. Cheers!
