We purchased the Llano Seco Rancho ham steaks(organic and no nitrates) at Kents Meats and Market in Redding, Ca.; what an amazing flavor and quality product. I can only hope that other pork products will be available soon.

So, I’m a vegetarian… only when I can’t find humanely raised organic meat products down here in San Diego. On a recent trip to Chico I discovered Llano Seco organic/humane pork products at the Chico Farmer’s Market and I am highly envious that we don’t have Llano Seco here in southern California. My mom and I split the reasonable price for a 2 pound ham and took that bad boy home. I put a brown sugar pineapple glaze on it and that ham was incredible – delicious, moist, and tender. Everyone kept giving me the credit for how I cooked it but really the credit belongs to the farmers at Llano Seco. They’re raising their hogs how nature intended and they have a superior(and tasty) product to show for it. I am now back in San Diego and sad not to have easy access to tasty pork, but I am going to investigate how to order products from the company via their website. If you care about the quality of life of the animal that became your meal, the land we all share or the health of yourself or your family(no growth hormone or antibiotics used) then you’ll consider the awesomeness that is Llano Seco pork! =) YUM!
